Lady Philippa Strong is a duke’s sister who would rather wear breeches and gallivant around her country home than become the sparkling debutante next Season. She’s not interested in becoming a wife and mother and property of a man, so would like to retain her independence. Although when she meets the handsome new viscount next door, she’s starting to question her path a little. Seth is the son of the fourth son of a viscount and never expected to inherit anything. After spending most of his life at sea, he’s shocked to find that he’s suddenly the new viscount after the death of his uncles and father. With no experience in being on land or the ways of polite society, he relies on his new neighbors for help. Especially the help of Pippa to teach him how to ride a horse. As they spend more time together, Seth is sure that Pippa will make him an excellent wife, but he’s careful not to scare her off with declarations too soon. This one was another fun look at the Strong family and how well they accept each other. I also appreciate a man who quickly knows what he wants and goes after it.
Pippa is a tomboy who loves her twin, which is the exact opposite from her. Which is why she doesn’t want a season in town. After that is decided she goes to explore meeting a Captain who ha recently inherited a title, Seth. Through many talks and horse riding lessons things become exceedingly complicated and confusing. I really enjoyed this adventurous and non stop book. It was a great read that completed a lazy enjoyable weekend. Can’t wait to see what the other family members get up to! I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with guidelines.
Lady Phillipa is super independent and determined to live life on her own terms. Seth has traveled a lot and now is set to settle down until he meets Phillipa. A fun story where he falls first and she runs him around in circles until she falls. The second of a wonderful series, that can stand alone. This author never fails to deliver outstanding stories that take our hearts and minds on a journey into a time filled with beauty, poverty, steam, class differences and so much more. As one of my favorite authors, I make sure never to miss an opportunity to read her work.
This was very sweet. Nice people meet each other and are attracted instantly. Everything goes very smoothly so there is basically little plot or character development. Everyone is kind and loving and destined for happily ever afters. It was all a bit too sugary for me.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.
Seth is a young man who has spent two decades at sea. He loves being on the sea and is a captain of one of Strong shipping's ships (book one). Seth has had a MUCh different experience at sea than the Strong heir did. I really liked Seth and I really liked Pippa, who was half a twin and about to make her debut. This is a really great series and I can recommend it.
Seth was a cabin boy who rose to a captain until he becomes the new Viscount Hopewell. Philippa doesn't want to make her debut with her twin. She agrees to give Seth riding lessons and friendship leads to more.
Love Seth and Philippa. Both terrific and smart characters. Love their chemistry and how well they complement each other.
Seth is truly green when it comes to things of the Ton. Pippa needs to explain everything to him. It's quite a reversal of roles. Pippa states early in the book that she will not marry unless she can find a man similar to her brother. It's almost like she spoke Seth into existence. I enjoyed reading this book very much.
