The son of a slain Little Rock Police Officer, Kyle Grant was honored and excited to receive his acceptance to the FBI Academy. On the eve of his departure, an unsuspecting Grant is viciously snatched from his home. The next day, a man named Peter Wallace assumes Grant’s identity and reports to Quantico, Virginia, taking Grant’s place at the FBI Academy. Deep within the Ozark Mountains, Grant languishes in a prison called the Fortress, a terrorist lair. The Fortress is the terrorist training Academy of the Wallace family, led by the patriarch and evil genius Tim Wallace. Wallace groomed his children, whom he affectionately called coyotes, to be trained terrorists. Each coyote’s mission is to infiltrate key government agencies in preparation for a terrorist assault on the United States. Grant’s kidnapping is the final move on the Wallace’s terrorist chessboard. Their evil plot, however, will face a major obstacle. Carlos Sullivan, veteran FBI Agent and polygraph examiner, is a pioneer in the field of lie detection, assigned to the Boston office of the FBI. By happenstance, Grant’s imposter is posted to the Boston Office, where he crosses paths with Sullivan, who soon begins to suspect the new Agent is not who he claims to be. Sullivan and his team begin a search for the truth, which leads to a cat and mouse game. Will Grant’s imposter be discovered before it’s too late? Can the coyotes be stopped or will the terrorist plot bring the country to its knees?
I finished the Coyote Wars series within a couple months, making it incredibly easy to hit my goal of reading more this year. Each book is a page-turner and I stayed up most nights on the edge of my seat reading. Not to mention the humor injected into the scenes kept me entertained.
With this said, The Coyote Wars should be a movie. The story takes you through iconic places of Boston, New York, and DC. The Wallace family’s diabolical plot is ingenious, and one wonders how someone devises this. The protagonist, Sullivan, however, is sharper and leads his team with his unbeatable intellect. Highly recommend!
Finished this book last night and I was so engaged right until the last page! Loved reading about some of the government ‘behind the scenes’ info which is so foreign to someone like myself. Intricate plot and filled with many twists. Looking forward to reading the author’s next two books!
Terrifying plot....couldn’t put it down. Loved the characters.....particularly Carlos Sullivan. Need to take a deep breath before beginning the next book in the series!
A page turner and a lot of heavy situations. Parents that give up children to domestic terrorists via adoption. The children are raised for this occupation, to become domestic terrorists.
It's sort of like living vicariously in secret government happenings and that's obviously very exciting. The author is pretty insightful, or so it seems, about the inner workings or supposed inner workings of the most secretive government branches.
This book was action-adventure in its purest form. It managed to throw in a few twists and avoid tropes, but somehow remain familiar enough that it wasn't an entirely new genre unto itself. It's the kind of book you want to read on a rainy day when you can't have any adventures yourself.
I like to include a couple of crime dramas on my summer reading list, and this book was a great find. It was really interesting to get into the heads of the characters. And the plot moved along quickly, which I really like. I hope there will be a sequel for my summer reading list in the foreseeable future.
The personal exposure of the author to the FBI and their procedures makes this book exciting and makes it hard to put down. I am looking forward to the next installment.
Moved along quickly after an initial slow start. Not my usual genre of books, so I'm not sure how it compares to others. A bit too much telling and not enough showing. I will probably read the second in the series to see what happens next.
I LOVED this book! I'm not a big reader, But this book is extremely action packed and suspenseful I couldn't put it down. I read it in 2 days! I highly recommend this book!
Fantastic book that is extremely and startlingly accurate. Well thought out and a real page turner! Interesting cliff hanger, would definatly recommend!
