"She is magnetic to me. Every emotion she feels pulls me that much closer to her charm and energy. For reasons unbeknownst to me, I want her to know what she means to me." Jake Evans
For Jake Evans, life was as it should be. No responsibilities. He was the master at embracing his reckless lifestyle whenever it presented itself. Surviving on his ability to expertly hustle, fight and womanize, Jake could do it all; lived it all.
Raised in a rundown city, filled with crime and drugs, he had survived the death of an abusive mother and a life with an absent father while only having his brothers to depend on. His lifestyle became fast and Jake had lived it the only way he knew how, until the day he met Delilah.
Delilah St. James was the epitome of flawless. Brought up in an affluent southern household, Delilah's life had been planned from the moment she was born. She was raised to be the perfect socialite and daughter, and groomed to be the ideal wife. When a school internship moved her to Sulfur Heights for the summer, Delilah collided with the bitter reality of life outside her comfortable gated community when Jake Evans upset her perfect world.
Over the next two years, Jake and Delilah became best friends, embracing a friendship neither one was prepared to have, although they soon found it to be a relationship that neither one of them were willing to sacrifice.
A tragic turn of events brings Jake and Delilah together once again. Only this time, the feelings are different. Lines within their friendship are blurred. Everything they vowed never to do, becomes the very thing they cannot deny. Will Jake and Delilah's relationship withstand the changes surrounding them? Or will the emotions sever the two year friendship they'd fought so hard to keep?
M.S. Brannon was born and raised in the Midwest. She still resides there today with her wonderful husband and son. When she is not writing or reading, M.S. Brannon spends time with her family, watching movies, and discovering new music. She writes romance because she believes love and heartache is the rawest emotion one can experience.
this books belong to Jake and Delilah but there is so much happening from the second book and new things are unravel that I don't know what will happened next. I mean their story it's not the easiest one, however it was cute, yes cute compare to other...and they saved each other in ways they needed to be saved ;)
image:
but Drake pain we follow it's just.. not only I read what happened previously but to see throughout Jake and Delilah eyes was kinda more painful... to see him so broken..
image:
and to more pressing issue, my favourite charter of all of them Jeremy... I mean WTF
image:
image:
I would never ever expect this!!!! I thought he has freaking secret family or HE IS a cop not the OTHER WAY ROUND!!!
image:
image:
yeah I'm sure orange suits you!! (point at sarcasm) so so much happened, I don't know how will Evans family come from this.... I still love Jeremy but...i can see why he did what he did but his actions had terrible consequences...
M.S. Brannon did it once again! I love the Sulpher Heights series and couldn't wait to dig into Jake Evans bad boy himself.
In Blind Love, it will be in Jake Evans and Delilah's POV. I really thought it was amazing how the author recreated their POV's from Tragic Love's novel. This helped me understand some of the background story that was going on behind Drake and Presley's story also. I was always guessing what was going on in Jake's head and why him and Delilah was best friends one minute and hated each other the next.
I loved how M.S. Brannon can just pull you into a story where you can truly feel the emotions of the characters yourselves. There are definitely plenty of drama and unexpected twists that I was not expecting. I was so clueless of Jeremy and really need closure for Drake also. I cannot wait to find out how Redeemed Love will begin then end of a fantastic series!
Emotional ... the only word to describe this story ...
I was so hooked up from the beginning ... Bad guy who has a damaged past and a girl from a social high class ... first they can't stand each other ... after that they become best friends and at the end they fall in love ... yes, we have seen that before but the story is different and unique from others ... There were sad and heartbroken moments in this book that more than once I literally had to stop reading and take deep breaths ... Amazing book and truly deserved 5 stars!
Blind Love follows on the from the aptly named Tragic Love and covers the complex relationship of Jake and Delilah.
Jake is the rough hustler born on the wrong side of the tracks with the reputation for drinking and womanizing. Delilah is the proper Southern bell raised to be the perfect daughter and potential wife to any respectable man. The pair are chalk and cheese with almost nothing in common but from the moment their eyes met there was a spark between them but it's always been Delilahs sensible nature that has kept the distance. Things have changed in both their lives though following Presley and life just seems too short to always follow the right path.
Jake is probably the most lively enigmatic character of the whole series as he's just so open and honest except with himself. He has old wounds but always strives to push forward without feeling sorry for himself which is a quality you have to admire. Delilah was perfect for him really as she was the Princess that he truly deserved but would still keep him on his toes.
I feel awful giving it a 3.5* as I love this series but the majority of the book was basically re-telling Tragic Love from Jake and Delilah's p.o.v. with only the last quarter being about them moving forward which was really disappointing for me as I didn't need to see their reactions to form a complete picture. I hope the next installment starts from a fresh perspective to drive the Series on rather than re-hashing past events.
I don't want to put anyone off though as I think the scenes we didn't see of Jake and Delilah before are a wonderful glimpse into them as a couple. It was a slight bump in the road for me but I haven't given up my hope or affection for Sulfur Heights.
There are books that you love, books you love to hate, and books that grip you in their emotional ride so thoroughly you'll never forget them. Blind Love falls into that final category.
I shouldn't be surprised, though, because M.S. Brannon has done it every single time.
This book takes a look back at the events that occurred during Tragic Love from the perspective of Delilah and Jake in such a way that, even though I knew what was coming, I couldn't put it down. Getting their POVs helps you to understand a lot of things that were happening in between, adding new emotions to the Evans' lives and painting a picture that captivates, causes laughter, rips my heart out, puts me back together, and then throws me for an absolute loop I didn't see coming.
I am in awe of M.S. Brannon and her collection of work, and I can't wait to see more from her!
Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow. This series gets better and better. It has been a thrill watching this writer grow and get better with every word written.
Jake and Delilah have heat, chemistry, and are bound by a bond neither of them understand. I loved their bickering and tender moments. Blind Love is a must read and will keep you on your toes up to the end.
I don't believe in spoilers so just trust me and read it.
4.5* EMOTIONAL STARS! First I have to say that I hate sad books! I read my share of it for 3 lives... And this was a emotional read for me. It take me long for finishing it,but I'm not disapointed at all!
I love this series! The characters are excellent, the story is addictive...I think that I'm a Sulfur Heights junkie!!
This book is about Jake Evans. His life revolves around hustling, fighting, drinking and womanizing. He is cocky, reckless and sexy as hell (and he knows it). He develops a very unlikely friendship with Delilah St. James, a privileged socialite who gets under his skin like no one else can. They end up being the best of friends and suffer through some tragic events together. As they grow closer, deeper feelings develop and confusion surfaces. Jake has never wanted a conventional relationship with a woman. He always preferred sex with no strings and his desire to be with Delilah is a new feeling for him. Delilah is in a serious relationship with someone that her family deems as perfect husband material. She doesn't want to disappoint her family - she was groomed to be the ideal wife. Jake sees a side of Delilah that she keeps hidden from her family and boyfriend. He sees the "real Delilah"...not just the pageant queen and socialite. I love the Evans family! I am looking forward to the next book in this series. Sulfur Heights, here I come!!!
From the very beginning, Blind Love takes control of your emotions, stripping them raw with every written word. M.S. Brannon introduces you to the real Jake Evans; a man who will give you the time of your life, but is also a man who keeps you at bay. Delilah comes in and she brings out the light he never knew he had. This book had me hooked from the beginning and left me begging for more when it was finished.
You are taken on an emotional roller-coaster that you never want to get off of. You get to know the bad boy Jake Evans and find that he has a lot of deep dark memories he doesn't want to share or remember. This is what makes him the man he is today.
When he meets Delilah, first she's just a conquest, but once they start on a path of friendship, Jake decides he wants more, NEEDS more from Delilah. But she has her own issues that she has to deal with at home, and she isn't interested in making them worse by getting involved with Jake.
Will Jake and Delilah be able to over come all of their issues and realize that they will never be happy without each other? Or are their lives so different and demands to big for them to over come?
wow this book ....I didn't expect that to happen. this book was happiness heartache an every other possible emotion all wrapped up in one I didn't think you could have topped tragic love but you did. I can't wait till book four is out. this series is a must read !
LOVED IT! Jake has been one of my favorite characters from this series thus far. I couldn't put it down once I finally got my hands on it. And I'm definitely rereading this one over and over again just to get my fix of Jake.
***I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.***
5 AWESOME STARS!!!! I would give her a gazillion if I could!
Once again, another fabulous read by M.S. Brannon!!! FINALLY, this one is about Jake who has to be the hottest guy EVER!!!! This is the story of Jake and Delilah, and oh what a story it is. In Tragic Love, we were given just a glimpse of the chemistry between the two. Blind Love is full of it! Delilah is the childhood best friend of Presley who has come to town for an internship. To say that she is the complete opposite of Jake would be the understatement of the decade! He is from the wrong side of the tracks, and D is from money and social standing. At their first meeting, the sparks fly. Jake decides to hit on D, and she shoots him down before he gets out of the gate. As you can imagine, they convince themselves that they can’t stand the sight of one another. But, that doesn’t last long! And the two actually develop a deep friendship. Jake decides to bring D out of her comfort zone and try things she couldn’t even imagine before. In return, she tries to get him to reform his bad boy ways. Of course, that doesn’t work. However, she accepts Jake for who he is. Their relationship gradually develops over time.
There are SOOO many things that I really love about this book. I liked that the story took place over a long period of time. Jake and D don’t just fall into lust, then into bed, and then in love. Their relationship develops over time. Yes, they do have lustful, hot feelings for each other, but the beauty of their relationship is their friendship. They are there for one another even though they get mad at each other and fight, they always make their way back to each other. I think for Jake to have a relationship with a woman, it has to be different from anything he had before because of his horrendous relationship with his mother. I liked the fact that even though this was Jake’s story, it happens at the same time the events that occurred in Tragic Love are unraveling. I love how Jake and D grow throughout their friendship. We get to see a softer side to Jake which just makes him HOTTER. We also get to see D change over time and stand up to her family and douchebag boyfriend and begin to live her life on her own terms. Of course, my favorite thing about Blind Love, as in the other two books, is M.S. Brannon’s writing style. She is one of the rare writers who writes what she feels, no matter where that leads us readers. And, oh what journeys she takes us on! The emotions are raw and real, and everything and everyone isn’t perfect. It’s like real life. Life is never perfect and is at times quite hard and unforgiving, but you can take what you are given in life and make your own HEA and on your own terms…a lot like her writing!!!
I think her books are perfection! She takes characters who are full of flaws and shortcomings and have such pain and suffering, and she makes you love them! She makes you feel what they feel! By the way, all of you readers who were so mad at her at the end of Tragic Love will LOVE her again. She is such a talented writer, and I cannot wait to read her next book! Thanks again, M.S. Brannon, for taking us out of our comfortable reading zone and taking us on one hell of a ride…a lot like Jake does for D!
The second book had left me broken hearted, I wonder how Jake’s story will leave me…
Despite the tragedy from the previous book, I was excited to read his story. He is the male version of Darcie, so to speak, and the perfect bad boy compared to his twin brother Jeremy. He enjoys his life, and spends his time between hustling, fighting and womanizing.
Then the princess came along. DELILAH is PERFECT. She was trained to be one – a hostess, a trophy wife. She lived in comfort – and way different from Jake’s and the rest of the family’s upbringing and lifestyle. She might not be a snob, but I found her gullible with her mother’s wants and desires. Speaking of her mother – gaaaaahd. She’s the worst person I came across here, even worse than Carter – she’s a demon in designer clothes, the master puppeteer. I wished that Delilah would grow some balls (even though she’s a girl), and fight for what she wants rather than doing what she was dictated to do.
Her mother is against Jake, compared to Emerson, her future was bleak with the former. I couldn’t blame her with this kind of reasoning. But at that age, Delilah should be given the freedom to choose. If she wants to be with Jake, then she ought to be with him regardless of the circumstances. Because watching them together under the hood of friendship, pretending to be platonic is just sad.
YOU DO NOT LUST AFTER YOUR FRIEND.
Delilah should have realized that. No matter how hard she fought the feelings – Jake had seeped through her veins. This guy, who’s been calling her cupcake, and irritating her to the maximum level had given her the time of her life, but she decided to play it safe and appointed him as her best friend.
Over the next two years, they remained friendly, but still close. Embracing the relationship that none of them pretty much expected when it was so obvious that BOTH of them wanted it to be more.
Then the tragedy occurred – OMG – it just broke my heart again. Watching Drake having his heart ripped into pieces. And a twist I have never seen coming. I was surprised, I was distraught, I never realized. M.S. Brannon had almost given me a coronary – where in the world did it all came from? It was an unexpected twist – all the anticipation, all the confusion zeroed in to this point. I think this had caught my attention more than all the romantic drama Jake and Delilah had (sorry) – because the surprise was sooooooooooooooooo unfreeeakin believable!
Nevertheless, I finished it in one sitting (a little late), but I did. I couldn’t put it down because with all those dramas, I was desperate for a HEA – and I was praying, really hoping this time it wouldn’t end like that of the second book and I WAS SOOOOO glad with the ending. M.S. Brannon couldn’t make it anymore perfect.

It is truly spectacular when an author can retell a story in another POV(s) and it's like reading an entirely different book. Though this book is NOTHING like Tragic Love, it does follow the same timeline; however, events and perceptions are contrived in a way that things don't seem the same way the first time around in Tragic Love. Delilah and Jake have their own voice in this book, and their own story that runs parallel to what happened with Drake and Presley. So much happens outside of Drake and Presley's world, and it's surprising how much Jake and Delilah had their own adventures going on at the same time as D&P.
I have to focus so much on how the same timeline can be so different because this is NOT something a lot of authors can do. I've read books from other authors who tried to re-write a story from another POV and FAILED! With other authors, it was the SAME story, not the case with Blind Love. Not the case at all! I was truly baffled when I read this book. I came into it thinking, "Oh no, I don't want to relive the scenes with Presley. It was too heartbreaking the first time around." But no, not the case. Most of the overlapping scenes are summarized, or there were other conversations happening around the Drake and Presley story that they were not aware of. Though, still heartbreaking to go through again, not as sob-your-eyes out because it's not AS personal, but affects you all the same. Does that make sense?
Anyways, Jake...oh, what do I say about the man? He made me lmao so many times in the story. He really is a fun character that is always up to something or creating this spectacular, embarrassing, no-he-did-not-do-that (or make-me-do-that, in Delilah's case) adventure. You cannot NOT like Jake. Well, except for his sexual rendezvous's...
And then there is Delilah, setting him up for hilarious scenes (diaper time. lol) or pushing him with good intentions that turn out not so good. Either way, the two of them together are what you expect all best friends to be like; getting into funny and sometimes stupid, or bad, situations and coming out of them laughing all the same.
The biggest surprise and "Oh, s***" of the book is Jeremy. Watch out for him because there is something going on and it leads to the next book, making you scream out loud that the next book is not out yet! I was very emotional over his turn of events, biting my fingernails down to the nub, and wanting to delve into his story immediately. I think Jeremy's story is going to be the icing on the cake of the Evans family saga.
Overall, Brannon, you have amazed me once again. You really are such an amazing author, a good story teller, and a weaver of words, and your writings are one of the best of today's. For. Real. You have a talent that does not compete, and you deserve the best of success with your books.
It’s always a good sign when a book can be heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once. Reading BLIND LOVE was like returning home to the dysfunctional but tight-knit family that I’ve come to love. It’s hard to believe, but I can’t even pick a favorite Evans couple—and that’s saying a lot.
In TRAGIC LOVE, readers met Delilah—a rich, wholesome southern girl with a heart of gold who stood by her childhood best friend, Presley, through thick and thin. Delilah is sensitive, caring, and would do anything for those she loves. But since birth it’s been drilled into her that she must marry a certain kind of man and live a certain way. Jake is the opposite of everything her mother wants for her. Born of a drug-addicted mother, he grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. He drinks, fucks, and hustles. He’s crude, brutally honest, and doesn’t respect women. But he seems to recognize a well-hidden part of Delilah that no one else ever has and he demands that she explore it. As they spend more time together, their adventures get crazier and they grow closer together until they both realize they are truly best friends.
But friends are all they can ever be because Delilah has to return to her real life and the man she’s supposed to end up with, Emerson. Only the more time Delilah spends with Jake, the less desirable Emerson seems as a significant other.
More layers of the Evans family drama are revealed as we follow Delilah and Jake’s story and more hardships are realized. While Delilah and Jake’s friendship had formed in TRAGIC LOVE, we really never saw how or why and M.S. Brannon did a great job of covering that period of time without making it seem like a retelling of Drake and Presley’s story.
When their story continues beyond the point of time where TRAGIC LOVE ended, it was emotional, shocking and raw. I liked how M.S. Brannon was true to Jake’s character and didn’t sugarcoat him to make him more universally desirable. He fought dirty and said cruel thing that I hated him saying, but it was real.
Every book in the Sulfur Heights series has made me fall more in love with the Evans family and I’m rooting for them all to find their happily ever after despite all the obstacles they have in front of them. I gave BLIND LOVE 4.5 stars because it dug deep and showed the emotions each character felt in an honest and meaningful way.
**Complimentary copy provided by the author/publisher for an honest review.
As you know, I have been reading through the Sulfer Heights series by M.S. Brannon. So far, I have really enjoyed the series. I knew that when I read the synopsis to Blind Love that I was going to love it the most (at least out of the first 3). I already loved the characters that the story revolves around, Jake and Delilah. That being said, please do not read any farther unless you have read the first 2 books in the series, as this review will contain spoilers to them.
Jake Evans has got to be the biggest, man whore and egotistical guy around. But dang it, you can't help but love him! He is cocky, arrogant and doesn't have a clue how to have a relationship with anyone other than his brothers and "adopted" sisters. Now, since you have read Tragic Love, I was happy to discover that Blind Love is the same timeline. It begins with the summer Delilah interns in Sulfer Springs. I was always itching to know what was going on with Jake and Delilah while I was reading about Drake and Presley and now I do. They have such a unique relationship and they make me laugh because they are so open and honest with each other.
Delilah St. James is the rich kid from Memphis, but the girl has a heart of gold. She never looks down on people and really wants to help others to a better life. I don't think I expected that she would show so much love and compassion. I know that she loves Presley but since you don't know the whole person in Tragic Love, it is hard to figure her out. I do feel sorry for Delilah though, it has to be hard growing up with a mother that expects a perfect child and only wants status not love. I have to say that I really can't stand her mother and they way she looks down on others who may not be as well off. Thankfully, Delilah is nothing like her. Delilah's main problem is that she tries to make everyone happy and in turn it makes her miserable. The only person that she can be herself with is Jake. How the heck does that happen? Jake Evans, of all people!
Since you know the story from Tragic Love you will know what some of the events are as they occur. However, I am happy to report that the book does not feel recycled at all and you learn so much more about what is happening while Drake and Presley are going through their horrible things.
I really loved this story. Honestly, it sort of reminded me a little of Noah and Allie from The Notebook. Just the story of the rich girl and the perceived white trash boy. It was a really fun read, but also had a lot of horrible tragedy. I highly recommend you pick this up, along with the other books in the series. Now I am off to read Surviving Love!
This is the third book in the Sulfur Heights Series.
Introducing Jake Evans!
Blind Love runs parallel to Tragic Love at the beginning, showing us Jake and Delilah's side to Drake and Presley's story. Jake, the ultimate bad boy, loves whiskey and women, never sticks with a women more than once. He plays the field, drinks like a fish and has a "this is fucking me, take it or leave it," attitude.
That is until Delilah St. James shimmies into his life, turning it completely upside down. At first his only intentions were to drive her crazy, get on her nerves. But after her spending the summer in the Evans house, they become closer and before they say goodbye, decide to become friends.
They go through their ups and downs. Delilah's parents being one of the downs. She is expected to be so perfect and marry the perfect man, set to become a trophy wife.
But as she becomes closer with the Evans family, she finds it harder and harder to go back home, leaving a little bit more of her heart in Sulfur Heights every time.
As the years go on, Jake realizes his true feeling for this amazing women who has completely changed his outlook on life... Other women becoming faceless blurs. But their faith rests in Delilah's hands.
This is another raw ride of emotions that will cut you deep enough to leave a mark. M.S. Brannon takes you to a whole new level of love and the rawness it can leave, permanently scarring you.
Jake is so different from Reggie and Drake. His cocky, no bullshit attitude is hot! As much as this story has it's sad parts and seriously, sometimes you want to slap Delilah, it is funny, heartwarming, entertaining and Jake is just pure sex!
It's funny, sad, witty and very loving. You will fall in love with Jake Evans. I have no doubt. It proves that no matter which end of the earth you come from, the power love holds is something that can never be broken.
I was honored that M.S. Brannon asked me to be a Beta-Reader. I have watched this series really grow. I was so excited to read Jake's story. Thank you Melissa for giving me my first chance as an ARC reader and a Beta-Reader! I will never forget.
I give Jake Evans 5 loving, wonderful action-packed stars!
And watch for Jeremy Evans's story to be told next! Coming later in 2014!
This is the third instalment of the Sulphur Heights series. Would recommend reading Scarred Love and Tragic Love first as it will give you a better understanding of the characters and their motivations if you do.
This story focuses on the relationship between Memphis socialite Delilah and Sulphur Heights hustler Jake. The timeline of their friendship is over approximately two years and revisits events from the previous titles but shown from their perspectives.
I would summarise this as an opposites attracts novel but it is so much more than that. Delilah is your stereotypical rich girl from Memphis who is expected to conform and live up to the expectations placed on her whilst Jake is from the wrong side of the tracks and has very low, if any, expectations to live up to. Delilah has a heart of gold and finds her true self as her friendship with Jake deepens. Jakes real nature is unearthed as he proves himself to be a fiercely loyal and protective man despite having a mouth like a sailor. Some of their J&D adventures are cute and some are just exhilarating but each shows how alike they are deep down.
Throughout the book I enjoyed some of their text exchanges and phone calls and it helped me to understand how they could maintain a long distance friendship. I would have liked more of them though. When they were reunited there was definite chemistry despite all the obstacles thrown at them and their friends/family.
The side characters were used well and I thought the Jeremy angle has set up for the next book well but would have liked to have seen more of the impact of Jeremy decisions on Jake considering they are twins.
I liked how their HEA finally happened but felt it happened quite quick and I would have liked an epilogue or just more detail but I am hoping to catch up on their story in the next book.
Overall I would recommend this story to anyone who likes an angsty romance with a tattooed, uncouth but charismatic leading man and a sweet, naïve but strong-willed heroine. Some difficult issues covered such as addiction and death but handled really well by the author. Will definitely be reading the next instalment and will look out for other titles by MSB.
WOOOOOOW… How can you not love to hate Jake. This series was very well done. I absolutely loved Jake and Delilah’s story. The chemistry and friendship between them was awesome and emotional. What a roller coaster relationship. I have tons of positive things to say about this book and one or two negatives… but the positives is the author truly created some in-depth and very relatable characters depending where you grew up and how much of the world you have seen…but growing up like the Evan’s brothers and trying your best to get out of that environment alive is what brings this story to life…struggle, love, family and betrayal within all of it. I loved that the this book has all the family present…they are very vital to this story…I was a little confused at how Drake was CLUELESS to what was going on with Presley…I mean this is the girl he loves and lay down with every night and it was like he didn’t even know her…so I just couldn’t buy into their love being real…now Jeremy on the other hand…for some reason I instantly connected with his character as I did with Jake…I can’t wait to read his story right after this review. My other negative is that I can’t believe (even for love) that Delilah who comes from a very rich, up standing and stable background would give up college and her future to slum it up with Jake…a man who might love her true…but he doesn’t really have any plans/goals in life..he say he does but he doesn’t act on those plans…he doesn’t even have a job..and there is SOOOOOO much freaking drama in this family…you have drugs, the shooting, pregnancy, fighting, house being raided… it’s waaaaaay too much for a girl with her stable background and upbringing…why would you give up everything you and your parents work hard for to “shack” up with some guy in the hood…if anything he should have followed her…he wanted to get out so badly…it just sends such a bad message…but all in all this was a great book and I will read several more times I’m sure…P.S. the scene in the motel in Detroit was AWESOME…
This story spans the 2 years from when Jake & D meet until their realization of just what their relationship is occurs !! It is a painful read especially after book 2 because now we are seeing some of the same things through others eyes. We have D coming to stay with Presley and meeting the family and being there for all of Presley's happy times and heartache. We see Drake's pain through both D & Jake's POV. Basically we get ripped to shreds all over again but also in more ways than one since we are now getting the POV of Jake & D. It is a painful but beautiful read !!
Jake is a jackass , we know this already but I kinda love him !! Thankfully it never goes into much detail about the nasty chicks he PLOWS LOL , but we get enough of his recollection to know he is nothing but dirty !! Sadly it makes me want a piece of Jake !! He gives D crap right from the start and this continues on for years. I loved reading about their adventures and I was shocked with some of D's behavior that Jake brought out !! I loved it , it was refreshing to see that she was not the stuck up snot they thought her to be !!
Delilah comes from the high and mighty and her life is basically set for her to marry Emerson and be who her parents expect. Presley is her best friend and Delilah adores her , she lives in Sulfur Heights for one summer and then makes multiple trips to Sulfur Heights to be there for Presley. Within these 2 years her and Jake become best friends and although there is a spark and desire felt by both neither act on it for a long time.
What happens when Jake realizes his true feelings for D ?? What happens to D when she attempts to make that next step in her life with Emerson ??
Their journey is full of ups and downs , raw emotion , heartache and joy. They sizzle together and I prayed they would smarten up and be together. DO my prayers get answered ??????????
Blind Love is Book #3 in the Sulfur Heights series. After the unexpected tragedy of the second book, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book. This is an amazing series and like with the first two books, it was so hard to put this one down.
Blind Love’s story runs parallel with Tragic Love’s story. While Tragic Love is from Drake and Presley’s POV, Blind Love is from Jake and Delilah’s POV. M.S. Brannon did incredible job with this! You will not feel at all like you are reading the same story again.
If you’ve read the first two books (which I recommend) you know that Jake is arrogant, cocky and somewhat of a womanizer. When Delilah comes to spend the summer with them, he is determined to be her friend and I think she really wants to be is too even if she may not act like it. Jake starts to wear her down and they eventually become friends. The feelings eventually start to run deeper between the two. Jake has never wanted a “traditional” type relationship and Delilah has a boyfriend back home. The kind her family thinks is perfect for her, even if she may not. Jake and Delilah let each other see a side of themselves that the don’t share with anyone else and it’s so sweet to see.
Over the next two years, after Delilah is back home, they continue to stay in touch and their friendship continues to grow. Then something horrific happens that brings Delilah back to Sulfur Heights. On top of all of that M.S. Brannon decided to throw in a twist that completely blindsided me! I was shocked and a little sad about this development, but at the same time I loved it.
Once again, M.S. Brannon wrote another stunning novel that will make you experience a wide range of emotions. I have fallen in love with these characters and look forward to reading the more about them. I definitely recommend this book!

In book 3 of the Sulfur Heights series we find out more about Jake and Delilah's friendship. It was obvious in Tragic Love that there were some major sparks flying between these two and they had some times that they didn't get along but no explanation for why. I assumed that it was because of Delilah's relationship with Emerson (her pretentious boyfriend back home that her mother is pressuring her to marry) and discovered that I was correct in Blind Love.
Jake is a hustler and a womanizer. He only needs to look at the girls at the bar and they are willing to do anything to be with him. Delilah comes from a well-to-do family who has been trained from an early age on how to be the perfect trophy wife for a wealthy man. She has been taught that once you give your word, you don't break it. She doesn't want to let her family down so she is willing to sacrifice her chance at true happiness with Jake and marry Emerson instead. Jake willingly changes for Delilah so that he can be what she needs. Will she agree to give up her security for a chance to be truly happy with the man she loves?
This book has everything; love scenes, drama, humor, etc. It is well written and continues to relay the story of the Evans family. I love how the author overlaps the stories from each character's point of view. There are some minor spelling and grammar errors but not enough to distract from the story. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series and believe that M.S. Brannon is now on my list of favorite authors to read!
I’ve been waiting to read Jake’s point of view since I first read Scarred Love. He became my favorite member of the Evan’s family! I was ecstatic when the author asked me to be a beta reader. I was also excited to read Delilah’s point of view, too, since I met her in Tragic Love. I was not a huge fan of her character in Tragic Love and I wanted to get to know her better as a person.
Blind Love was spectacular. The beginning of the novel was set in the same time frame as most of Tragic Love, so I was able to see the same scenes from other perspectives, which I enjoyed. I knew the events of Tragic Love impacted the Evan’s family more than the other novels, so it was important that I get to witness it all.
Jake was everything I thought he would be. I loved his attitude, even when I hated it. It was great to watch him grow and change and begin to be affected by his friendship with Delilah. It was awesome to watch the romance unfold throughout the novel and see Jake at war with himself. I’m still not totally sold on the idea of Delilah, but I feel like I really understood her and her struggles in the novel. When she cares, she really cares, so I get why Jake would fall for someone like her.
Blind Love was another amazing addition to the Sulfur Heights series. I can’t wait to read more and see what happens to all of the characters. The series is my guilty pleasure and my NA romance addiction. I need more of the Evan’s family!
This was my first Sulfer Heights book - I didn't read the first two, altho I may go back & read Scarred Love.
Jake & Delilah's story is one of friendship turning into love, and is about the whole family & their struggles, rather than a romance between the two. The romance is happening, they are slowly falling in love (the book takes place over a longer period of time), but neither will allow themselves to acknowledge it. Jake is pretty sure he's happy being a manwhore, and Delilah feels trapped in the role her family has placed her in. With Jake, and Jake's family, she's allowed to be herself, but she feels that it's only temporary. And then tragedies strike, and they tear Jake & Delilah's world apart, even as they pull them closer together.
This is a very emotional read, very well written, and really worthy of a 5 star review. However, I did bounce between 4 & 5 stars as far as what makes a 5 star book for myself, so I would put it at 4.5. The only detraction from my enjoyment was that the happy times were tainted by the other thing going on in Delilah's life. I don't like when the female lead of a story takes quite this long to "wake up" to what's going on. It just detracts for me. But the ending? Oh, the ending was pretty flippin brilliant. :)
Initially, I was a little annoyed at Jake. He kept accusing Delilah of being stuck up and basically judging her because she had money. Delilah was actually really accepting of others and I just got so frustrated that he was accusing her of something he was doing himself (i.e., judging someone because of their social class).
However, I grew to really enjoy the story around the time that Jake and Delilah's friendship blossomed. I thought they had an adorable friendship.
The Presley situation didn't work for me. For some reason I was really detached from it. It just didn't feel genuine. Perhaps because I haven't read the second book in this series, which I believe is Presley and Drake's story. The author obviously can't rehash everything that came up in other stories but I think a few more of those details would have made me care a little bit more. There was some pretty intense stuff happening with Presley and I couldn't care if I tried.
Maybe I need to start with book one and go from there.
These books overlap each other because this is a family experiencing things together. This is Jake and Delilah's story. Delilah is Presley's best friend. Readers again experience the tragedy that takes Presley's life. Jake didn't want to fall in love with Delilah. Delilah has plans for her life as well. She is a debutant and supposed to follow in her mothers footsteps. She has never challenged the system. Until Jake challenges her to become his friend. He shows her what truly living is. She is expected to marry Emerson Knox. A wealthy, successful young man. But can she give up love for duty???
We find out about Jeremy's involvement with drug dealing. Ultimately he was a partner to the man who in a drunken craze, kills Presley and wrecks their lives. Drake can't forgive him. The family is struggling to survive. Gotta get the next installment!!!
this was a great story. I could not put it down! so much happens in this book. it's like being on a ride and you have to stay on until it comes to a stop.
this is Jake's story. I liked him since book one. the cocky, foul mouthed, bad-boy who pretty much lives his life drinking, hustling, and banging random chicks each night.
somehow he finds his perfect match in Delilah. I really liked her. I knew from book one that it would take a helluva girl to break through his rough exterior.
somehow I ended up reading this series out of order. I need to go back to read book two before I move on to book four. these are both Drake' s books (2 & 4). The Evans family has its life turned upside down in this book. these are definitely not standalone books! as I learned the hard way, it's important to read them in order.
This book is truly another great read added to an amazing series. Blind Love gives us Delilah and Jake’s story. It starts with them meeting in the bar, filling in the gaps of what went on between them throughout her stay with the Evans up to the Delilah’s final decision on whether to follow her dreams or the dreams her mother has for her. Their story was just as intense as the previous books in the series and we get to see the serious side of Jake as he realizes he’s starting to feel more. This book ends with us seeing a family we love to read about torn apart with a secret that will destroy everyone’s trust and their bonds are tested at all ends. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I received an ARC of the book for an honest review. I have to say that M.S. Brannon’s books just get better and better. The first two books I liked but the characters were a little immature and at times I wanted to scream at the characters. Blind Love is Delilah and Jakes story and begins when Delilah comes into town for the first time for college credit the book is form Delilah and Jakes POV and has many ups and downs. Like all of M.S. Brannon’s books we see character struggle including how love can change a person and how the wishes and hopes of a family and overshadow a young adults shifting dreams and how to follow their heart. This book was a great read and if you like the other books you will love this book.
