My brother’s best friend shattered my heart when he left to chase a dream of shoulder pads and glory. Now he’s back, but even worse, so is my crush.I’m not in love with Mason Sanderson anymore, so I keep telling myself.
It doesn’t matter that he’s the face of every hero in any romance novel I’ve ever read.
My new next-door neighbor is not the man of my dreams.
The flutters and butterflies when I see him around don’t mean anything.
As his best friend’s little sister, I’m the perfect choice when he needs a date for his former team’s fundraising event.
No drama, no expectations–off limits.
Then his ex shows up.
I’ve waited a lifetime for him to ask me out, but it’s not real. I’m in the friend zone.

Lol. I need to cleanse my eyes out 'cause I can't believe this stupidity.
Fair warning here - review contains SPOILERS!
Heroine (Emily) was supposedly the love of his life but she was off limits because she was his bestie’s kid sister, so he had no problem falling for OW. He was "always in love with her" and "the one" but we don't actually get any story about that - just a filler sentence in the end to make us think that is so. Yet we have page after page, chapter after chapter about the OW (see quotes below), so I'm supposed to believe this was a "romance"? I must have missed the part where author showed me any romance between these two MCs........
I’ve always been attracted to sleek, sophisticated women—or at least that is what I told myself. When I left for college I dated women that were so far from what Emily was like, trying to burn her out of my brain with other women.
-----
“Wait. What?” Now it’s Jack’s turn to widen his eyes. “What does that mean ‘never acted on it?’ How long have you had feelings for her?”
I take a deep breath and get ready to jump off the proverbial ledge. I’m tired of harboring this secret and if telling him means that he wants nothing to do with me, I’ll deal with that.
“I’ve felt this way about her since high school. I tried to go off to college and football and forget all about her. I did everything I could to push any and all thoughts of her from my mind. Heck, I even dated women so far the opposite of Emily that they shouldn’t even be in the same universe. I tried to stop thinking about her smile, the way she laughs, how kind she is…”
-----
“What are you doing here, Julia?” My tone is tired. I’m not in the mood for her. I came here to talk to Emily and clear the air.
“I’m here to see you. I’ve missed you.” She looks at me in a way that a few years ago would’ve made me want to give her anything. But now I see through it. It has nothing to do with me and everything to do with Julia wanting something.
------ I swear she looks like I just told her we were eating at McDonalds instead of one of the best taverns in Cottage Grove.
Was I really so blind not to see just how much she only cares about money and appearances? If I wasn’t completely over her I would be eating this up. I still can’t believe how much I adored all of this before. “Of course, you’re right Mason,” she says in that saccharine tone again. “I want to talk about us getting back together. I made the biggest mistake walking away from you. I never should’ve left. You were the best thing to ever happen to me and I am so very sorry. Do you think you can forgive me?” I keep my face neutral as I take in her words. If she had said this to me eight months ago I would’ve taken her back in a heartbeat. There wouldn’t have been any hesitation. I was completely blind to everything that Julia is and what she really wants. I wonder if she thinks me being at these events means that I’m rejoining a team. It has to be something like that. Julia isn’t in love with me, she never was. She loved what I could give her, not me. I see it all very clearly now. -------- The fact that I was completely blind to all sides of her is still a bit surprising to me. I consider myself to be a good judge of character but where Julia is concerned, I was way off. But it makes sense. I wanted anyone but Emily to be the person I loved. And I was able to fool myself for years. Julia is the complete opposite of Emily in every way imaginable. Of course she would be the one I would settle for.
“I do. I’m only sorry it took me so long to see it.”
Julia no longer tries to hide her rage and I can’t help but notice how it contorts her face to an ugliness I didn’t think possible on someone I once thought so beautiful.
“It’s that girl, isn’t it?” She spits at me. “I knew it. I knew you were never just friends.”
“When we were dating, there was no one else but you. If you hadn’t ended things I would’ve happily married you.” I cringe as I realize how true those words are. I would’ve married her and soon found myself miserable for the rest of my life. “As devastated as I was when you left me, I need to thank you for breaking up with me. I can’t tell you how grateful I am to you for deciding that I wasn’t good enough.”
This was such a sweet read! Brother's best friend happens to be one of my favorite tropes, so naturally I was drawn in from the title... and the story absolutely did not disappoint! Mason is a former professional football player who became a firefighter in his hometown after an injury that ended his career. When he needs a no-strings date for a charity event, he decides to take his best friend's little sister, Emily.
These two were so cute together! The mutual pining... ooh, I loved it. Their road to romance is far from a smooth one... and yes, sometimes I found myself wanting to shake one or both of them (but mostly him, if we're being honest), but I enjoyed every moment spent with them! This really is just the type of feel-good smalltown romance that I cannot get enough of. And as much as I loved Mason and Emily, I really enjoyed all the side characters just as much too! This is the first book I have read from this author, but it definitely has me excited to read more from her in the future.
Never Fall For Your Brother's Best Friend is a closed-door romance with kisses only. It does have a very small amount of minor language.
**I received an ARC for consideration. All opinions are my own.
If there is anyone who can write sweet romantic comedies, it’s Abby Greyson! I haven’t a read a story I didn’t enjoy! You’ll always find yourself smiling and laughing when reading her stories!
If you love falling for the brother’s best friend then look no further! Mason isn’t looking for love but little does he know his forever has been right in front of him! Emily is a sassy girl and no matter what happens she’s always pushing forward with a smile!
This is a 5 star read and you definitely will love their Emily and Masons story!
4⭐️ Thank you Abby for sending me a copy of your book. This is a close-door romance book (sweet & clean), just kissing, nothing explicit (no spicy scenes).
Tropes: 📚 Small town 📚 Football player/Firefighter MMC 📚 Booklover/Romcom reader FMC 📚 Brother's best friend 📚 Friends to lovers 📚 Mutual pining
Mason is a professional American football player and is Emily's brother's best friend. Emily has a coffee-bookshop in Cottage Grove, a small town in Maine, and she was always in love with Mason, and as a fan of romance books, she always dreamed of her own HEA. Mason is forced to return to his town and reunites with Emily. I love Mason and Emily as a couple, they have a very special chemistry and I really enjoyed this short read, very well written by the author. Recommended if you are looking for an idyllic love story with a happy ending.
Welcome to Cottage Grove, Maine an idyllic small town where everyone supports each other and in everyone's business (but not portrayed in an obnoxious way for once).
Emily, the owner of Books and Brew, loves her hometown, romance novels, and has been harboring a secret crush on her brother's best friend, Mason.
Mason, the former NFL player now turned local firefighter, has returned to his hometown after a career ending injury who is trying to suppress his crush on his best friend's little sister, Emily.
Hijinks and jealousies occur when Mason asks Emily to be his fake date when a gala for his old team comes to Cottage Grove.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I felt a connection to the main characters, and the supporting cast came off as caring and not annoyingly meddlesome like some small towns people are portrayed (I'm looking at you Gilmore Girls). This book is a great read for anyone looking for a quick, feel-good read.
There is no language or spice, but definitely some swoon-worthy moments.

This was a cute novella! Love the small town, friends to lovers, and brother’s best friend tropes. I enjoyed the story of Mason and Emily. The author’s writing style is great and easy to follow. I thoroughly enjoyed the banter between the characters. This is the first book I’ve read by Abby Greyson and look forward to reading more of her work.
Thank you to the author for giving the opportunity to ARC read. I am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really loved how the MMC waited for a good conversation with the FMC's brother before following through with his feelings towards his sister.
The main characters were super cute together once they came together and I enjoyed the banter between the other characters too.
A great short, fun, and sweet read!
You get: • Dual POV • Sweet Romance • Brother's Best Friend • Former NFL/Now Fire Fighter MMC • Fake Dating • It's Always Been You • Book Store Owner FMC
I love a good brothers best friend romance story but this one was definitely one of my favs! The characters were super cute and they had such great chemistry! Taking place in an adorable small town just added to the story. I really loved that it was a clean romance story too! Those are hard to find. 1000% recommend!.

What you’ll find: - Brother’s Best Friend - Best Friend's Little Sister - Former Professional Athlete - Friends to Lovers - Close Proximity - Opposites Attract - Slow Burn - HEA
Mason is a former football player whose career ended due to injury. He moved back to his hometown and now works as a firefighter. Mason had a secret crush on Emily in high school but has pushed those feelings aside because Emily has been "off limits" his entire life. Emily is a book-loving introvert who runs the local bookstore in their hometown of Cottage Grove. Emily has had a crush on Mason for a long time but doesn't think Mason has any feelings for her.
Mason is invited to charity events and a gala, but he needs a date. He wants to take someone who won't be looking for anything more than friendship, so he asks Emily, his best friend's little sister, to be his fake date. This story follows Mason and Emily while they navigate their mutual feelings for each other.
This is a super cute story! The book was well written and the characters were well developed. Abby Greyson did a great job making me feel as though I was right in Cottage Grove with the characters. Mason and Emily's relationship was very relatable. This is a quick, heartwarming, clean romance read.
Thank you Abby Greyson for providing me with an e-ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.
This is the second book I've read by this author and I absolutely love the writing style. It is easy to read and follow, enough tension to make it hard to put down, and always has a happy ending.
No spoilers, but I will be talking about the book from this point on:
I really enjoyed the backstory on the characters- especially Mason. The story revolves around his past as an ex-pro American football player (especially fun to read leading up to this year's Super Bowl), but doesn't get lost in the detail of the sport. Because of his past career, he is invited to attend a Gala, and convinces his coach to bring it to the small fishing town of Cottage Grove instead of hosting it in New York City. This works SO WELL to bring the tension between Mason and Emily up as it keeps it in the small town, where she has lived her whole life and loves. It also keeps the reader mostly focused on the cast of characters introduced at the beginning, helping to not add way too many characters to remember.
OHH BROTHER.. this book was just one big miscommunication trope. How can people allegedly be in love their whole lives if they didn’t even interact with each other like that. And if you really loved someone your whole life, you wouldn’t let their brother threatening to beat you up prevent you from pursuing the person you allegedly love so much and can’t live without (whole time the brother wasn’t even fr about beating him up lmao). If someone is like a brother to you, I’d like to think they won’t hurt you that bad even if they did threaten to. Also, the book starts with Mason himself barely given Emily a second thought, but he’s loved her all his life? Mkay 😜. And Emily girl… you went from crushing on him for years to being in love??? Point me to where you fell in love.
The next time I read a book where the third act breakup is caused by an ill-perceived one sided kiss will be a lifetime too soon.
I only finished this book because it was short. I barely read the last 20% because I didn’t want to DNF this. I’m not a quitter😭.
I’m ranting, but I honestly would’ve just liked a little plot and romance with my miscommunication trope ☝🏾.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I love a good best friend’s brother romance! This one was delightful! The character’s were fun and believable! Enjoy and go visit a darling bookstore in your area!
I received this book from the author and all opinions are my own! Loved it!
Emily owns a bookshop and enjoys her work. When her brother Jack’s best friend, Mason, comes back home after his NFL career is over, he gets a job as a firefighter. Mason is attending an event and asks Emily to be his date since they are close friends. Neither has ever let the other know they would like to be much more than friends. Are they ready to take a chance on a relationship now? Even Jack sees how good they are with each other. Will he set Mason’s mind at ease that he has no problem with his falling in love with Emily? Will they get their HEA? Or will someone else enter the scene and try to ruin their chances?
~~~ I received an ARC from the author through Book Funnel in exchange for writing an honest review. Sorry it took so long to post it! ~~~
~~~My strategy for reviews: I start with 3 stars, and I would consider giving 3 stars a good review. I will have reasons for moving up or down from there. I do not think I have ever read a book I would give only 1 star to. Only a few would rate 5. Normally these days, I consume books via audio books, so reading an actual eBook is relatively new! ~~~
I suppose mild spoilers could ensue. 3 stars from me because that means “this was a fine story”.
This is my second ARC and second review, ever, and both were Abby books. To be honest I liked the first one better, I spent much of the time reading this one vacillating between impatience and something approaching fury, but that is more of a me mixing with this particular story line as opposed to the book being bad. If you send someone to review a horror movie, who doesn’t like horror movies, it isn’t a great plan; if you have me read a story with even mild other man, other woman (cool kids call that OM and OW) drama, and this level of attraction denial between the main characters, I will get tense at the very least. It’s why it took me so long to make it through the story.
So let me get my own head out of the way. The writing is nice and smooth for the most part. This is only my second eBook reading so I was worried about getting author intrusion moments, but this book only kicked me out of it one time, and it was mild. Something like, “She carefully put down the item gently.” That made me go hmm, but remember I have been consuming books on audio while I’m driving for a while, so it’s an experience to have my own voice reading things rather than someone who is (usually anyway) a pro reader.
I liked the story from 10,000 feet. I usually like “best friend’s little sister” type stories and this one’s best friend was a lot more reasonable than many others I’ve read. He is way more the instigator of our hero and heroine surviving the BIG PROBLEM(s) than usual, in fact. I liked the two way apology and the groveling was fast but kind of worked for me, even though it was super fast and super easy. I’m just used to reading a story that actually raised my blood pressure, lol. I think to someone who enjoys that kind of angst, that would be a recommendation from me!
I wish the annoying ex of our hero Mason had gotten a little more come-uppance, but hers just resulted in her angry talons to come out. If he’d flushed that toxic person the moment she tried to reappear, it would have made me happy.
Anyway, I feel like I’m complaining more than I intend to. It’s a fine story, it’s just that its details mixed poorly with grumpy ol’ me. It’s for people who like clean and a little sweet and what we all like to call a guaranteed happy ever after.
Audiobook Review: Even though this is a very trope-y contemporary romance, I still enjoyed the story, particularly the setting, secondary characters, and the heroine. The author puts the main trope right there in the book title. The heroine is a super sweet young lady who cares about all those in her close circle and her small town. Her little bookshop sounds adorable, and I wish I could visit it! She's got a hold-no-prisoners best friend, always good in a romance, who gets a little prickly with just about everybody, even the heroine at times! (And it looks like she will be the heroine in the next book of the series.) The title is perhaps a little inaccurate, as the heroine has had a thing for her brother's best friend since they were in high school, which was some time ago. He's only just returning to their hometown. He left to pursue a pro football career but is returning after being injured, his pro career now in the past. He did well enough that money isn't a concern; he is a first responder who does so because it gives him purpose, even if he doesn't need the money (and actually donates it to charity). The book centers around a big multi-day, multi-venue gala that was initially going to take place in New York, but the hero, at the suggestion of the heroine, brings it to their small town instead, boosting the local economy and doing something different from the standard fundraising affair.
As always in a “brother's best friend” trope romance, one main stumbling block for the hero is getting past what he thinks will be resistance from the brother/friend. Does he want to risk his longtime friendship with his friend to pursue the woman of his dreams? Is it truly a risk? (Just talk to the guy; don't continue to beat yourself up over a possible non-issue!) The hero runs hot and cold toward the heroine for the entire book, certainly giving the heroine mixed signals about what he's thinking, feeling, and actually desires. He was so wishy-washy (perhaps too much?) that I could certainly empathize with the heroine’s frustrations. And as often happens in romance, the hero is just plain stupid about his ex!
So, yes, even from this brief review, you can tell this is full of all kinds of genre romance tropes and other well-worn romance pathways. But I so liked the heroine (and the pampering and girly stuff the hero helped her indulge in!) and the small town that I enjoyed listening to this book.
I received a promo code for this audiobook, but that did not affect my review.
AUDIOBOOK REVIEW Abby Greyson's "Never Fall for Your Brother's Best Friend" is a delightful blend of sweet romance, humour, and the heartfelt tension that comes with a long-standing crush. This series is set in the cozy small town of Cottage Grove were all the characters add to the small town charm.
Emily, is relatable and charming. Mason's return to town stirs up old emotions, leading to some adorable and awkward moments that made me smile. The chemistry between them is noticeable, and the slow burn of their relationship feels authentic, making their eventual realization of love all the more satisfying.
One scene that particularly stood out to me was when Emily's elderly neighbour, Mrs. Jenkins, gives her unsolicited but endearing advice on love. It's a small moment, but it adds to the warmth and community spirit that permeates the book.
The narration by Lexi Balter and Zach Young was good. Lexi captures Emily's vulnerability and inner strength perfectly, while Zach brings Mason's mix of confidence and uncertainty to life. Their performances complement each other well, enhancing the emotional depth of the story. Their chemistry as narrators mirrors that of the characters, making the listening experience immersive and enjoyable.
I would definitely recommend this audiobook to fans of clean, sweet romances who appreciate a well-done friends-to-lovers story. The book's pacing is just right, allowing the characters' feelings to develop naturally without being rushed. Abby Greyson has crafted a story that feels like a warm embrace, with just enough tension to keep you hooked until the very end.
Whether you're new to the Sweet Spring Kisses series or a returning reader, "Never Fall for Your Brother's Best Friend" is a charming, feel-good listen that will leave you with a smile on your face and warmth in your heart.

Great book, enjoyed reading it and recommend it to everyone. Story about Emily and Mason and their relationship and how it changed after Mason returned from NY after his career ending injury in the Super Bowl. He became a firefighter and worked with Jack his best friend and Emily’s brother. Emily owns the Books and Brew, a book store which also sells sweets and coffee, along with her best friend Leah. Mason likes to come in for a coffee and danish. He views Emily as being off limits, and therefore only visits with her. Things change when Mason is called by his old coach to participate in a fundraiser put on by the team. He says yes. This means that he must go to NY, and asked Emily to be his plus one. She said yes. The coach comes to Cottage Grove to see Mason and meets Emily. When she recommends Cottage Grove to have the fundraiser because it is family friendly the change is made. Things change when Julie, Mason’s old girlfriend, who broke up with him comes to town and wants to get together again. Mason is not interested in getting back together. Before he gets to tell her, he (due jealousy watches a football player friend date Emily) suggests his friend take Emily to the fundraiser events and he will take Julie. Finally at dinner dance he gets to speak with Emily and confess his love for Emily, and she confesses her love for him. Then as Emily is leaving the event she sees Mason kissing Julie and is devastated. She blocks all Mason’s calls, she won’t give Mason the chance to explain. In the end with the help of Jack and Leah Mason gets to talk with Emily and tell her what really happened. HEA results for Emily and Mason. Also Jack and Leah noticed each other and began to date.
I enjoyed this book about two people who grew up together with the girl who had a major crush on the guy even when he left their town and became a football star. Secretly he liked her too but didn’t do anything about it because she was his best friends little sister.
However, when he comes back to his home town and is asked to help with a charity ball, he asks her to accompany him at the functions. She agrees and then the ball is changed to their hometown which makes her even more happy. Things go along as friends until one of the football players starts showing an interest in her and the guy doesn’t like it but can’t do anything about it because he hasn’t told her how he really feels. Then his ex girl friend shows up and wants to get back together with him and things go from bad to worse!
Interpersonal relationships are complicated but it makes it very hard if you try and hide your true feelings especially when things happen you aren’t expecting! This then becomes a case of trying to win the girl back and letting her know how you finally feel about her!
I highly recommend this book and as it’s in a series intend to read the other books by other authors to complete the series.
I recommend you get and read this book and enjoy it! Abby is a wonderful author and you’ll throughly enjoy this as well as her other books so make it a New Year’s resolution to read this and other of her books! You won’t regret it and you’ll have a wonderful time reading some great stories!
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is the first book of the author's that I've read and I wouldn't mind reading more from her. This is the first book in the Sweet Spring Kisses, a multi author series, but can be read as a standalone. The book's blurb is straightforward. Never Fall For Your Brother's Best Friend is told through Emily and Mason's pov and is a sweet friends to lovers romance.
As a bookshop owner, Emily enjoys managing her shop and helping the townsfolk find their next read. She's content living in her small town and even more so when Mason returns. Though she tries to keep her crush hidden and feels for the way his career ended, she enjoys spending time with him. After his football career ended, Mason returned home and felt a calling to work as a firefighter. It gives him a self of accomplishment. He also likes rekindling his friendship with Emily. When Mason needs a date to a fundraising event that will bring business to their town, Emily readily agrees. As they spend time together, it becomes more difficult for both of them to hide their growing feelings.
Though Mason was best friend's with Emily's brother, him and Emily had a friendship of their own. They grew up together and it was nice seeing the familiarity that they had. Because neither wanted to ruin their friendship, and because of Mason's friendship with her brother, their romance was a slow burn in terms of them not wanting to act on their feelings. However, the pacing of the story is very quick so the wait doesn't feel long. Their romance was a clean one consisting of sweet kisses, that aren't overly descriptive, and no foul language was used. There was a bit of drama but readers will be satisfied with the way things were resolved. Overall, I think this book is worth a try.
this was a short and sweet pallet cleanser, but it wasn’t anything to sing and dance about tbh. It is a sweet/clean romance so there is NO SPICE at all, just a couple of kisses. Which I’m ok with, I don’t mind a clean romance…I just don’t read enough of them 😅, so it is weird to me when I do read books like this as I’m so use to spicy scenes😁.
i thought our main characters were likeable enough, it was a very simple story and it’s only short at 20 chapters long. So you can easily get it done in one sitting, but it was longer for me due to being busy with other books…so I think because of this, it’s probably effected my rating also. Just to keep that in mind 👍🏻.
All in all though i do like brother’s best friend, it’s a favourite trope of mine and that was the main reason I checked this out. It did enough to not make me DNF put it that way 😆. The book did what it set out to do, with its simple premise and subtle title. It was a quick ‘pass the time’ experience for me ✌🏻.
If you like this trope with a clean romance mixed together then this book is for you. For me? Probably not so much but I gave it a go all the same 😊. I’m partial to a clean romance, but the story needs to be more interesting and investing for me.

Emily co-owns a book shop in Cottage Grove, Maine with her best friend. She is perfectly content with her life. She has had a crush on her brother’s best friend, Mason, since she was a child. He is back in Cottage Grove when an injury forced him to retire from professional football.
Mason lives next door to Emily. When his old coach asks him for a favor, he enlists Emily to be his date for all the events. He has always liked her but never said anything out of respect for his friend.
Will they finally admit they care about each other as more than friends or will it be too late?
My Thoughts:
This is my fourth book by Abby Greyson and my favorite so far. I loved Emily and Mason.
I continue to love Greyson’s writing style and the smooth flow of her plots. Her books are the perfect length for each particular story. She writes clean romance without it feeling like something is missing. I have read a couple of clean romances where leaving out the spice kind of messed up the scene. I have yet to have that feeling with Greyson’s books.
I have two backlist books to read and then I will have read all of her books. I can’t wait for her next book.
Thank you Abby Greyson for the ARC of Never Fall For Your Brother’s Best Friend.
Best Friend's to lovers or more trope are at times a hard story to read for me with each person wanting more than friendship or being friend zoned yet are in love or have a crush that grows. The push and pull of attraction against putting the friendship first while hurting the other person unintentionally. This story has great friend moments interweave with the friends to lovers but Emily and Mason keep boxing their friendship/ brothers best friend angst. Emily spaces out at times with her imagination of what she hopes for based on the romance books she reads but never allowing it to happen in reality with Mason. This book was like each character going through stages of grief - denial (we're just friends) , bargaining (fake date setup), anger (hurting the other when other person's actions try for more but get pushed back or denied), depression (when hurt feelings due to person's own words go against what they truly want, hopefully a good friend will set them straight so can move on to acceptance without too much angst for the reader), acceptance (hopefully finally get it together when true feelings being realised and accepted by the other person).
A former footballer, now a fireman. Mason was made to make us swoon 😆
Cute and swoony fast paced story, perfect to make you feel good.
Mason and Emily had know each other almost their whole lives. He's her brother's best friend, but he's also her friend. She had crushed on him for a long time ago, but he sees her like a little sister (or so she though). He went away to accomplish his football dream, after an injury he's back in town... And her old crush is back too. But he is her good friend too, now more than ever, and she can control her feelings in order to keep it that way... or so she hope. After Mason ask her a favor, they spent more and more time together and the friendly and "off limits" lines starts to blur for both of them, realization seems to be at the end of the tunnel... Then Mason's ex make an appearance (and Emily is done being the one left behind).
Ohhh, how I love secret crushes

“Never Fall for Your Brother’s Best Friend: A Sweet Small Town, Friends to Lovers Romantic Comedy (Sweet Spring Kisses)” by Abby Greyson As a member of the author’s ARC Team, before publishing, I received a free copy of “Never Fall for Your Brother’s Best Friend: A Sweet Small Town, Friends to Lovers Romantic Comedy (Sweet Spring Kisses)” by Abby Greyson. I am writing a voluntary, honest review for her latest book.
Mason and Emily never dated as they cherished their friendship and his best friend is Emily’s older brother. Emily stayed local buying a bookstore and writing romance novels. Mason returns home living next door to Emily after retiring from the NFL. Mason invites Emily to go to a party as a pretend girlfriend. Just when they awaken their feelings for each other, something goes horribly wrong and Emily is devastated. Can Mason and Emily solve this problem alone? If they need help who knows them enough to solve the problem or will they both find someone else? As usual, Abby Greyson writes another clean, send chance, page-turner romance! Easily a 5 star book.
Emily loves her life in her hometown, ahead co owns a book store with a cafe with her best friend. Everything is perfect except for her happily ever after. She's always had a secret crush on her brother's best friend, but Mason only ever saw her as the little sister of his best friend. When he moved back after his football career collapsed through an accident her crush was still there all those years later. Mason enjoyed his job as a firefighter now his football career was done with. He realised how glad he was, it ended on a high and he kept a level head and was still the same person who'd left. He'd always cared for Em but she's out of his league and his best friends sister. This is a sweet story of two people who can't or won't see what's in front of them, the town of Cottage Grove sounds idyllic with quirky and noisy residents who love to gossip, the there's Mr. Bojangles you got to love him. This book just keeps you entertained from start to finsh.
My brother’s best friend shattered my heart when he left to chase a dream of shoulder pads and glory. Now he’s back, but even worse, so is my crush. I’m not in love with Mason Sanderson anymore, so I keep telling myself. Anyone know how to keep a heart intact when heartbreak is inevitable? This was a quick read for me that I couldn't put down. I received an advanced copy of the book from the author and I'm voluntarily leaving an review.
I LOVED this book. Abby Greyson is such a great author. Reading her books somehow makes me feel like I could be her best friend (obviously irrational since I'm probably a million years older than she is....but her books bring back the young and in love me every time I read one!). I mostly read cozy mysteries but good romances always have a bit of mystery, don't they? Although you always know there will be a happily ever after and no one has to die! If I read nothing but romances, I'd likely die of cloying sweetness. Getting into a book by Abby Greyson is like a warm comfy chair and a cup of tea!
Emily and Mason are a delightful couple with no idea one has been in love with the other for years. Being Jack's best friend has kept Mason away from ronantic feelings about Jack's younger sister Emily (and vice versa). It was such fun seeing them get to the truth that the whole town has known for a very long time!
I received an early copy of this book and this is my voluntary honest review.
Thank to the author for this free book in exchange for an honest view. She is one of my new go to authors. Both people in this book had crushes on each others for years. The brothers best friend trope done well and sweetly. He didn’t go after as he was told she was off limits but when he went off to college he tried to go the opposite of her to bury the past but nothing could make him forget her . She always thought she was the kid sister and that he only saw her as his best friends younger sister the book nerd. He gave her a nickname because of the books she reads . He was her unattainable goal . Never had a chance until…. He left to play in the ngl but in injury knocked him out of that dream when he was at his prime and know he is a firefighter in their small town and he needs a favor . Can she spend time with him and still keep her heart intact ? He can never have the woman he has always wanted , or can he?
