Packed with more than 200 shortcuts and tricks, this might just be the most helpful book you will ever own.
When Sidney Raz hit 30, he realized there was so much advice no one had ever bothered to tell him. So Sid went on a mission to make his life as easy as humanly possible. He began posting his discoveries online and quickly built a following of millions, all eager for his next hacks. This book is a culmination of that work, presenting Sid’s greatest tips, tricks, and life hacks to make cooking, chores, and life in general far more efficient. It’s all stuff you wish someone had already told you, and now they have. Share them with everyone you know!
Hacks that take you one step closer to domestic god status
Placing a wet paper towel by an onion will prevent your eyes from wateringPutting plastic wrap in the freezer makes it easier to useThe shoulder strap on a leather jacket will prevent the strap on your bag from slipping off
Sure I knew a lot of them, because I passed my 30's, well, let's just say, awhile ago!
Some chuckles: - "Don't write or say the word egg too many times in a row because it starts to sound really weird." - "TOP TIP: A) microwaved corn is hawwwwwt hot hot HOT! Do not touch it right away. B) microwaving does not cook the corn. C) microwaved corn does not taste great."
Some useful tips I want to try: - Slicing potatoes with a box grater. - Remove bell pepper seeds by pressing down on the top with your thumbs until it collapses into the pepper. - Opening pistachios with other pistachio shells. - Opening pre-sliced bagels with a twist. - Using a stape remover to open a key ring. - Phone symbol for degree behind the '0'! (And the cent sign is behind the '$'.)
A new tip for Sidney: - You had a couple of washing box grater woes. Get a dish brush to wash your box grater with. Then you don't have to spray it before using or wash from the inside. Use the dish brush to clean it inside and out without scraping your skin off.
A reverse tip for Sidney: - Oh, DON'T reheat food in resealable bags, even pancakes, and even if the bag does say 'microwave safe'. Or in plastic bowls or plastic containers. Just keep plastic out of the microwave, people! Use glass or ceramic or corelle to reheat your leftovers. (Well I do heat frozen meals that I buy occasionally that come in a plastic bowl that is made to be heated in the microwave. And I cringe every time I do that. But that's the only plastic thing I use in the microwave.)
I have enjoyed his short videos because his reactions are genuine. Are all of these life hacks game changing? Probably not to someone like me, Gen Z, but if he really is just finding out about some of these not until he was in his 30s, I can see why he's frustrated he hadn't been taught all along. I hope his generation and the next start realizing these basics are game changing and some are essential! Definitely check out his socials. They are a hilarious. You can feel his pain!
I received this for Christmas and what a fun read. I have seen many of @sidneyraz videos and they always make me smile. Now I have his hacks in writing to refer too. Love his hack rating system too from “modest improver” to “mind blown”
