Detective Raven Mackenzie and her partner Tony Rodriguez are called in to investigate a homicide of a man brutally slain found in a chapel with a cryptic message pinned to his chest. They uncover the man's connection to powerful female crime boss Fiona Dunhill who leads them to the mysterious head of security - Christian Delacorte - who soon becomes the prime suspect.

Since Christian's family was killed in a botched up police raid, he's hated cops. So now being forced to cooperate with the Homicide Detectives by his employer and the person who saved him years ago doesn't sit well with him and it's bringing up nightmares of his childhood tragedy But his loyalty to Fiona forces him to work with Raven and Tony to unravel the mystery of Mickey Blair's death.

As the investigation deepens, there seems to be a connection between the murder of Christian's parents and little sister and the murder of Blair. Convinced Christian's past could hold the key to solving this crime, Raven's determined to found out who murder his parents, who murdered Blair and if it's all connected with Fiona's husband assassination decades ago. Throughout all this, Christian and Raven's bond deepens, as their attraction to each other does as well, bringing new tension to the investigation. Will Raven, Christian and Tony be able to find the killer before he targets them? Or will they be his next victims, with no one left to tell?

No One Left To Tell was a pleasure to read. The suspense was to die for and the romance super steamy. Dane's dark humor kept me laughing while the tension had me on the edge of my seat. The characters were unforgettable and the plot flesh and enjoyable. Dane has become a definite auto-buy for me.

A murder victim is found hanging in St. Sebastian’s Church and Detective Raven McKenzie and Tony Rodriguez, Chicago detectives, are assigned to the murder case. Mickey Blair, the victim, is an employee of the Dunhill Corporation run by Fiona Dunhill. It is suspected that Mickey was involved in other things besides his employment at Dunhill.

Raven and Tony run into a wall when they interview Fiona Dunhill. The only way the two detectives will be allowed to check out the Dunhill files is if Christian Delacorte is allowed to assist with the investigation. Christian is one of Fiona’s top employees as well as Fiona’s foster son.

A deal is cut and the three are to work together but both sides feel the other side is holding back information. Raven is attracted to Christian although she tries to fight it. Before the investigation has barely begun Fiona leaves unexpectedly for parts unknown.

As the story progresses it seems that there is a link from the past that involves Christian, Fiona, Raven’s father and Raven and that link is one very dangerous person.

It is a race to see if Raven and Christian can unravel the past in time to save themselves.

This was really good. The love story didn’t overshadow the story. It was downplayed. The story itself was well thought out and entertaining. I know it was number 2 in a series and I hav not read the first one but I didn’t feel like I was missing anything. I think I am interested in finding the third book

Using Father Antonio as the bait Logan Mcbraide traps Raven at an abandoned warehouse to settle his score against her.Assisted by Jasmine, bodyguard of his biological father Nicholas, Christian saves Raven kills Logan.

MY COMMENT...

The only Interesting part of the novel, is the budding romance between Christian and Raven at different situations. Finding him as an mysterious muscle man and prime suspect in Mickey Blair homicide case, she wishes to stay away from him. After watching his cooperation in finding the facts, learning about Christian's pathetic childhood and his nightmares, Raven slowly finds herself attracted towards him. This romantic portion is well handled by the author in the "otherwise-nothing-out of ordinary" novel.

some romantic suspense is more suspense and some is more romance. Romance like this one...I can't handle.
The big big positive (surprise) is that main girl, while saved by the guy. And the guy, of course is hot and rich. She can stand on her own two feet.

Good book, I like Dane's writing style, I liked the rapport between Raven and her dectective partner, Tony. I also like the organized crime element that wound its way through the storyline, and the suspense definitely had me turning the pages. The romance was good, even if it was quite tame. What little sex scenes there were were written in a very nondescript, dry manner. Ms. Dane seems to have an aversion to calling a penis anything other than "a part of his anatomy", which to me is the equivalent of saying "down there". I'm not offended by descriptive sex scenes, but I have to bear in mind that books aren't written for me and me alone. Sometimes it's best to keep it neutral in order to appeal to readers en masse. Bottom line, if you are looking for steamy sex scenes (or at least mildly descriptive), look elsewhere.

There were some elements I wasn't that fond of. I had a hard time picturing the characters involved in the romantic aspect, Raven and Christian, as sexy or attractive. He wore turtlenecks, she wore a fanny pack. Ughhh. And he used a cell phone holster to keep it on his waist. Another yuck, although not as yucky as a turtleneck. But with a little mind-tweaking, I was able to form them as attractive people in my noggin by ignoring their need to use such unsexy garb. (Perhaps that's why the love scenes were lukewarm at best, they were each offended by the others use of the classic "I'm not getting laid" accessories.)

I liked Christian in the early parts of the book when he was tough, mysterious, and macho. I didn't favor him when his facade cracked because it seemed that all he did was cry and feel sorry for himself. I prefer bad, tough male leads. He didn't come off as a tortured soul to me, he came off as a sniveling softie who finally came out of the softie-in-disguise closet.

I am also unsure as to why there were so many adjectives used to describe coffee every time it made an appearance. I love coffee, I'm pretty serious when it comes to coffee, yet I don't know why it warrants such adjective laden descriptions in a light read. Unless coffee is a strong supporting character, which it wasn't. And I wasn't a fan of the religious undercurrent that followed the storyline. It was subtle enough not to be out loud and proud a religious story, enough so that I continued reading. I normally don't read books with religious storylines because they make me think too much. I like to read so I don't think.

Also, this book had the sounds written in like the first of the series. I loathe when sounds are written in, they are awkward for the reader. Luckily this one only had a mere few, maybe 2 at most.

While this book wasn't enough to make Jordan Dane one of my "go - to" authors, it's enough for me to keep her in mind when I am looking for something new to read. Had this book been better than the first, she would have defintely made it to the front line of "go-to"'s.

Tension, conspiracies, truths and lies… Who could ask for more!

An assassin is hunted, murdered, and left hanging inside a church, a cryptic note pinned to his chest. At first, detectives Raven Mackenzie and Tony Rodriguez think it may be the work of religious radicals, until they identify the man.

But the investigation leads to dangerous territory. The man worked for one of the top crime bosses in the city, who is also female, Fiona Dunhill. Fiona, feeling the heat, takes off and disappears to parts unknown, leaving her head of security, Christian Delacorte, to deal with the aftermath.

Plagued with nightmares of a childhood trauma, Delacorte faces his fear of the dark daily with an exercise where he is blindfolded, using all of his other senses to detect everything around him. After the slaughter of his parents and sister, Fiona had taken him in and took care of him. But this time, even Christian’s loyalty to Fiona is tested. Memories begin to surface in his nightmares, and Raven is sure that this who fiasco is because of his past.

The more the memories surface, the more Raven is determined to help Christian solve it, and the case. Things turn ugly when the shooting starts and her partner is put out of commission. Christian doesn’t like what he remembers of his past, and with Raven getting under his skin, he is determined to deal with it - and keep Raven out of danger. But someone has other plans.

The killer is now fixated on Raven. She is the very image that he likes, and the whole thing tastes even better to him once he realizes that Raven’s father had been one of the first officers to ever arrest him, the first officer to see ‘dead grey eyes’. But now he’s out and revenge tastes all that much more sweeter when Raven is thrown into the spotlight.

The plot is thick with mazes in this story, and while I did feel a connection between Raven and Christian in this one, it could have been stronger. And while we learn the truth about Christian’s past, Fiona still holds back from him, including who his biological father really is. We know who he is, but Christian doesn’t, and now he’s having a very hard time trusting Fiona. Lots of action and suspense, I thought it was a pretty good read. Can’t wait to read the next.

No One Left To tell, by Jordan Dane, B. Narrated by Tavia Gilbert, produced by Blackstone Audio, downloaded from audible.com.

I didn’t like this book as well as I liked the first one: “no one heard her scream.” First of all, the name of the female cop, Raven Mackenzie, was just too harlequin for my tastes. And secondly, the way she immediately started reacting to Christian DelaCorte, (described in ways such as “his eye hungrily sought her body” and her eyes did the same. In other words, there was more tension on the attraction to each other than to the police procedural. In both books Jordan Dane presents strong women cop figures, but in the first book, I thought Rebecca was more convincing than Raven was in this book.

Publisher’s note:
The brutally slain body of a man is found on the holy grounds of a chapel, and a cryptic message pinned to his chest unravels the lives of people touched
by a dark secret. Detective Raven Mackenzie and her partner uncover the dead man's connection to a powerful female crime boss and are led to her mysterious

by nightmares from a childhood tragedy linking him to the case. Convinced his past holds the key to finding the real killer, she defies her partner, and
following her instincts and her now undeniable bond with Christian, forms an unlikely alliance to solve the case. But if the killer finds her first, there
will be no one left to tell.

Raven is a detective who is called away from her Disney movie to the site of a brutally slain man at a chapel. The victim had a note pinned to his shirt, a clue that only led deeper into a gnarled knot of more clues and deceptions.

Christian DeLaCourte is the Head of Security for a well-known female crime boss. Promising to help the police with their investigation, he soon finds himself being looked at as the possible murderer. Most of the pieces fit into the puzzle, with the exception that he didn't do it.

Faith DunHill has so many secrets buried, she is afraid to dig them up to the present. Scared, she leaves suddenly, going into hiding, leaving Christian to deal with everything. While she is away, however, Christian does some investigating of his own and soon unearths a shattering secret of Faith's. A secret that has Christian questioning his own mortality.

The action heats up and soon Raven finds herself crossing paths with a heartless killer. If he succeeds, there will be NO ONE LEFT TO TELL.

Full of adrenaline-filled action, gritty and real characters, and a plot full of suspense, NO ONE LEFT TO TELL will have you on the edge of your seat. Highly recommend this new suspense author!

*Note- the book ends as the next will begin. No One Lives Forever will pick up where No One Left to Tell leaves off. So if you are one of those reader's who can't wait - you might want to wait until you have both before you begin !

"A Dark Message

The body of a brutally slain man is found on the holy grounds of a chapel, and a cryptic message pinned to his chest unravels the lives of people touched by a dark secret. Detective Raven Mackenzie and her partner uncover the dead man's connection to a powerful female crime boss, leading them to her mysterious head of security, Christian Delacorte, who soon becomes the prime suspect.

Triggers His Nightmares

Yet when Raven sifts through Christian's past, she discovers the man is plagued by deeply rooted nightmares - and a shadowy childhood tragedy linking him to the case. Convinced his past holds the key to finding the real killer, she defies her partner, following her gut instincts and trusting her undeniable bond with Christian.

And Arouses a Killer

But Raven shares her own date with destiny when she crosses paths with a heartless killer. And when he unleashes his rage, there will be no one left to tell." (From Amazon)

She is definitely improving in the romantic-suspense genre.

I didn't like the way this one started, but I got over it pretty quickly. Once we met the two detectives, Rodriguez and Mackenzie, the book started picking up and never really slowed down. I liked it a lot - even though it was predictable - hey, it's got a tortured man and a lonely woman in it, what do you expect? - but there were some twists and turns along the way. One thing I had a little chortle at was that the hero (the aforementioned tortured soul), was named Christian, and in the first scene he's in, he's blindfolded. Soooo... But there are only a few shades of gray in the book. Raven sees the world in black and white, and Tony sees the shades. Overall, it wasn't a waste of time - it even kept my interest while the lights were out and I read by my trusty book light! Not only was it hot in the house, but there were some hot moments in the book! Not 'needing-a-cold-shower hot' but still warm...

I put this book down to read other things, but when I came back to it I wasn't at all confused as I found all the characters in this book memorable. Raven and Christian were both characters that I liked. Christian has a tortured past, and watching him struggle to first remember, and then cope, really tugged at my heart strings. Raven was nice and strong without being annoying.
The problem for me was this book was just too predictable. I had most of it figured out early on, but even with that this book was not a waste of time, simply because Jordan Dane created wonderful people that I wanted to spend time with.

This is another fabulous thriller from Jordan Dane. He has elements to make it an even hotter romantic suspense. When there's a murder in Chicago, it stunned even Detective Raven Mackenzie from the CPD. We see how Raven deals with the crisis and the murder with the partner. Her vulnerability is exposed, when there's someone after her to make her his own. But when she meets Christian Delacorte, a man with a troubled past, their chemistry is instant and the sparks fly. But the danger raises another notch. This is a great novel with tons of suspense and sexual tension to kill you enthralled into the danger zone.

Ugh! I bought this as a quick read for my Nook so at least I didn't spend much.
The plot is laughable, the characters are flat and stereotypical, the action is cartoonish.
I don't read romances and didn't realize until I started that there were pages of trite descriptions of rippling muscles and full curves to add even more "excitement" to my reading "pleasure"
Definitely a mistaken selection for me.

I did enjoy this one. Good story in there and I really liked the 2 main characters. Warning, If you don't like violence or explicit sex, don't read her books. This is only the 2nd book that I read from her and I have to say she really gets your heart pumping. :)
