Avelyn Paige is the mischief-maker behind steamy dark romance, gritty mafia love stories, and high-octane motorcycle club tales that have blazed their way onto the Wall Street Journal and USA TODAY bestseller lists. She calls Indiana home, where she lives with her husband and five furry troublemakers who think they’re her editors.
When she’s not fighting the good fight in cancer research, Avelyn trades test tubes for plot twists and dives into worlds filled with danger, devotion, and deliciously bad decisions. She writes romance because it’s the one place where chaos and love can coexist, bullets can fly, hearts can heal, and everyone still gets the kind of ending worth fighting for.
After losing her dad in 2015, she turned heartbreak into creativity and never looked back. Now, she’s on a mission to prove that even the darkest hearts can find redemption, and that love—no matter how twisted—always leaves a mark worth remembering.
What a fantastic start to a new series. Rex and Rem are about to get their second chance but it was a long road to get their HEA. This book was a rollercoaster ride from start to finish which made it a huge page turner. Loved every minute of it.
Love this book! Rex and Remy will have you sitting and reading this all at once. You get plenty of action, suspense and of course love. Two Ed’s trying to navigate through life and right the wrongs a club has done. It will take a strong couple to pull through all of this. Secrets, lies, deception, lost love, new love. This book has it all!
“I'm not a pawn, I'm the queen, and I can checkmate you if I want to."
This is a MC second chance romance. Rem is rebuilding her life after she & her mom were kicked out of her father’s club. She created the Voodoo City Queens who help others in need. The last person she ever expects to cross paths with is her ex, Rex who is now the leader of her father’s former club, the Zulu Kings. However, life has different plans for her & her world unexpectedly collides with his. Being with him is dangerous, it brings you all those precious memories & how he chose the club over her. But together, they’ve got bigger problems to deal with than their past.
I really enjoyed this book. Rem & Rex have so much history together. Seeing Rem try & fight her feelings for Rex. Her coming to the realization that he still loves her & will do anything to protect her. Love how close the queens are & how much they look after one another. Love Beaux & Birdie together. I can just imagine the chaos they will cause.
Wow, what a fantastic way to start a series! This book just sucked me in from the first page to the last. I absolutely loved Remy and all her sisters! Remy and Rex had a connection that couldn’t be ignored. Secrets were revealed too. This book will keep you guessing on what happens next. I can’t wait for more on this series.
Goodness, what an amazing way to start a new series. This is an nonstop adrenaline fueled, intensely captivating, and suspenseful roller coaster ride to go on with Rex and Remy. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Wow, just wow! I enjoyed every single heart pounding moment of this story.
OMG!😍 I knew when I saw a little blurb of a preview, that MS Evelyn was going to hit a home run with this series! I can't wait to see what happens next😀 She is such a talented author!
I am sucker for MC bad boys and take no sh*t girls. Second chance romances aren’t always my jam but this book has me excited for more books to come in this series.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
What attracted me to this story was an all female MC. What kept my attention was the push and pull of the second chance story for Rex and Rem. Rem should have been MC royalty, but after her father's death her and her mother were pushed out. Rex stayed in the club to keep watch over the club going for Rem. As they navigate seeing one another and dealing with vengeance, together they save their family both real and found.
This is an intense rollercoaster of a story and not for the faint of heart. You can feel the attraction and sparks between Rem and Rex with every page.
Fabulous start to a new series!! The story kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. It was a roller coaster ride of suspense and action. Remy and Rex had this connection that can’t be ignored. They have so much history together and to have her come to the realization that he still loves her and will do anything and everything to protect her just made me swoon. I can’t wait to see how this series progresses!!
Wow this book reeled me in from the beginning. It’s MC romance. I love MC romance. Rem was hurt by Rex years ago. She picked herself up and is definitely a Queen. When they cross paths again Rex tries to explain to Rem that everything he did was to protect her. It’s awesome seeing them come back to each other. Love it. Will definitely read more from this author.
This was a great start for a new series! I mean, this book hit the ground running and had me sucked in. Remi and her sisters were great and she and Rex are perfect. So much happens and secrets will be revealed. I can't wait for the next one!
What a read! This has had me gripped from the start and I could not put it down! The twists, turns and heartache had me shouting wtf on more than one occasion!! OMG!!!! I hope we get more from the Voodoo Queens!
Devil's Queen is the 1st book in the new Voodoo City Queens MC series by Avelyn Paige. It's a second-chance romance surrounded by secrets, lies, and betrayal full of twists and turns, action and violence, heartbreak and love. Avelyn brought us a new series full of badass women on bikes who live to help those who need it. Remy and Rex's lives were blown apart when Remy's dad died 8 years ago. The plans they both had for their future went in different directions. Rex chose to stay with the club because he thought it was the only way to protect Remy. While Remy and her mom got thrown out and their lives made a living hell when her father's business was left to her and not the MC. Fast forward, Rex is now the president of the Zulu Kings MC, a single dad to Birdie, and thinks it's time Remy knew the truth about what really happened when her dad died. Remy has struggled to be a single mom to Beaux, starting the Voodoo City Queens MC and becoming the president, and fighting the Zulu Kings (now ex) President Wolff to keep her dad's shop and rebuild it to continue his legacy. Neither of them saw what was going on behind their backs until it was too late and it was in their faces. Once the lies and secrets are out, the betrayal is healed, the bad seeds removed, and the past burned to the ground will they be able to start fresh and rebuild their legacy for the future or will the damage done be too great to overcome? I gave this a 4-star rating and a 3-spicy rating. Remy is one hell of a biker chick through and through. There's a strength in her that she wouldn't have if she hadn't gone through everything in her past. Rex is the one meant for Remy and always was since they met. Although he tried to do what he thought best and it didn't turn out the way he thought it was admirable. I wish there would have been more of the MC in the book and not just their church meetings. It didn't give off the feel of being an MC until they teamed up with the Zulu Kings MC which was a bit disappointing but the drama with Rex and Remy made up for it. I can't wait to see what the next book will be. I definitely recommend this one! *I received this book for free. I voluntarily gave an honest review.*
Book one in the Voodoo City Queens MC; Devil’s Queen is the first of what I hope to be an epic motorcycle romance series. DQ is also a second chance romance, which is one of my favorites, so starting this was really exciting for me. The first thing that I can say about this book is that it is INTENSE, but so so good!
Remington has led a hard life ever since she and her mother were discarded by her father’s MC Club, the Zulu’s. Her entire life she was the princess, the apple of her fathers eye, and the one the club would do anything to protect. But that doesn't mean anything anymore. Not when her father is killed and the club turns on them. All she knows now from them is betrayal and hatred.
Years later, her fathers final wish is made known and becomes hers, and she has to fight tooth and nail to keep it that way. The Voodoo City Queens is her life now, a club that she created to help those who need it, and for that she is willing to do anything for. When Rex reenters Rem’s life, she is more than off kilter, she is thrown off. She never thought she would see him again, and to be honest she was ok with that. These two are like gasoline and fire, mix at your own risk.
VCQ is amazing, I loved seeing an all female MC, I think that may actually be a first for me as a reader. Rem is independent and loyal, ready to take on anything and anyone that is a threat to her club and the work they do. When Rex enters the story, I was really unsure how I felt about it. I wanted to hate him, but it was so hard! You can tell the type of person he is and the weight he puts into making things right with Rem, but the past is hard to forget.
Ms. Author did a wonderful job kicking off this series; the family relationships in the MC’s remind me a lot of another series that I love. I can’t wait to see what we get next!
Tropes: MC romance, second chance romance, bad girl, badass FMC, alpha hero, blended family, dark secrets, emotional scars

This was one thrilling rollercoaster ride that consumed me and made it absolutely impossible to put down. Remy was a true inspiration and badass. Rex was her equal in many ways. I loved that after Remy was kicked out of her father’s club, she went on to create her own. The bonds she went on to create made me rather jealous. If the rest of the series holds true to this story, it will be incredible. From the first page, I read while sitting on the edge of my seat. I highly recommend this read. This is my honest opinion, freely given.
MC romances are not my typical go to read. But after someone recommended I dip my toes into the MC world, I decided to give this a chance. I decided to start with this book and I am not sorry. I love that it takes place in New Orleans, a city that is close to my heart, and made it easier for me to picture what was going on in the story. As someone who has themself enjoyed the deliciousness that is the shrimp and grits at Muriel’s, I could picture Rex and Remy enjoying a dinner sitting at the table there. I really enjoyed Remy as a strong FMC. Being a badass president of a female MC, I loved her strength but also her vulnerability. I appreciate her strong desire to protect her family, including the women of her MC. I also love Rex. Rough but wants to do the right thing. This book had lots of good ups and downs and I enjoyed the ride. Remy’s struggle to keep her shop and her inner struggle with her feelings for Rex, the man that chose the MC that booted her and her mom was engaging. I can see the pull of the MC romance genre. The bond within the MC creating a family unit but also the questionable dealings that can be involved make this a great genre to provide an escape.
My only gripe with the book is the fact that the heinous skank in Rex’s life was named Meredith. There are a lot of awesome Meredith’s out there. ;)
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
Remington Laveau is the princess of The Zulu Kings MC. But that all ends when her father's life is taken. She is not about to lose this life like she has lost her father. However it does cause her life to spiral out of control. Now she and her mother are cast out of the MC and are now officially outsiders. Her life has become an endless cycle of betrayal, corruption and very dark. However she now has her fathers last request and legacy to look after. Now the fight of her life has begun to keep the business her father left her while protecting her heart from Rex. The man that holds the key to her heart. He now sits on her fathers throne of lies. Remington is on a mission and will stop at nothing to get what she wants and she sure won't let Rex stand in her way. This book is full of twists and turns. Lies and betrayal. All the things that have you hooked and turning the pages as fast as you can. You will keep guessing to the very end. I loved reading this book and can't wait to see what we get in the next book.
Devil's Queen is the first book in Avelyn Paige's new series the Voodoo City Queens MC. I loved reading and following Remy and Rex's second chance MC romance. After her father death, Remy and her mother are forced out of her father's club, and she begins her own. One that helps others. I loved this book with it's strong female main character and the way that Rex tries to keep her safe. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. ~Dawn

The thing I appreciated the most about this book was that there was SO MUCH Rem and Rex could have held grudges about, completely legitimate things, and they didn’t. They recognized that all it would do was make things harder for them. They had kids, they would always be connected, even if they didn’t get together, and they knew they couldn’t do it harboring constant resentment.
There were also some insane twists in this book, some of them absolutely heartbreaking. Some I definitely did not see coming. It was brutal.
The romance was fine. I didn’t hate Rem & Rex but I kinda felt like their chemistry was a little lackluster. And their romance… IDK. I felt like there was too much else going on to really focus on them.
Also, there were a lot of loose ends and dead bodies by the end that I was kind of wondering how they explained them away. Cuz…. I mean the police would have definitely been suspicious 😅
It was decent, especially for an MC romance. They can be really hit or miss for me.
This is the first in a new series and this is Rex and Remy’s journey. Remy was an MC princess, until her dad’s death, which leads to her and her mom being cast aside by the club, which has her life spiralling out of control. Rex stayed with the MC, and he and Remy have a history. This is a well written action packed, emotional roller coaster, with family, friendships, loss, grief, intrigue, secrets, lies, corruption, betrayal, loyalty, second chances, danger, suspense, romance, palpable chemistry, revelations, healing, and love, which leads to an entertaining, unpredictable, twisted, tragic, and steamy addictive page turner, which had me on tenterhooks throughout. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Suspense, betrayal, secrets, and redemption. All in one book that looks to be a great series to come.
Remington Laveau is determined to keep her father's legacy alive. She knows how to build and create a beautiful machine that many will want. Her father taught her well. Her only issue is that she has to keep fighting for her legacy to continue. When her past comes back and secrets are revealed, she could lose everything.
The Voodoo City Queens MC looks to be a great series. This book had me hooked from the beginning and kept me hooked until the end. The suspense, danger, secrets, and characters all combined to make a great story and I can't wait to read more in the series.
For me, this was a great introduction to the VCQ MC. I found the story intense with some real emotional moments and hard to put down. I loved Remy's independence, loyalty, love for her family and sisters, intelligence, and willingness to work out issues. And Rex, what a wonderful father, despite trying to straighten out the ZKs and reconnect with Remy. The supporting characters in both MCs, mother, neighbor/grandma, and children created a wonderful world, even with all the violence and such around. I look forward to the next book in this series.
I received a copy through Chaotic Creatives, and this is my unsolicited review.
Devil's Queen is the first book in Avelyn Paige's new series the Voodoo City Queens MC. I loved reading and following Remy and Rex's second chance MC romance. I loved this book with it's strong female main character and the way that Rex tries to keep her safe. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
This was a great story. I loved the tension between Rex and Remy. I had a couple of issues though that brought down my rating. 1) I have a physical copy of the book and there are editing mistakes that are glaring and annoying. 2) It seems like Remy takes all the responsibility for the lies in the relationship when it's mentioned several times that Rex's choice is what split them in the first place. This blame game really started to grate on me.
Loved Rex and Remy! Their whole push and pull was intense and I was here for it! Plus, with all the secrets that they both are keeping – you all know that secrets don’t keep hidden – they will come out! There story has a great number of ups and downs… and not all between the sheets!! They are both fighting for their MC’s, for each other and for family! Couldn’t put it down!
Rex and Remy get this new series off to one heckuva great start! This couples journey is emotional, heartbreaking and has you feeling everything they do. This author spins a story that pulls her readers in and holds them captive from start to finish.
This book is an all female MC and it just sucked me in from the first page to the last. The captivating roller coaster ride you take with Rex and Remy will keep you on the edge of your seat till the end
