Sadie and Evan live in entirely different worlds. Brought together by fate, and held there by hope, can they bridge the gap dividing humanity, or will long held fears and prejudice force them apart forever?
Sadie is a normal girl. Or, she used to be.
When catastrophe strikes, a military experiment meant to advance society sends the world into chaos and disarray instead. Those affected become lost and confused, cold and alone. Many give in to their new vicious urges, striking out against humanity for forcing them into this unwanted existence.
Sadie is one of them, but she refuses hurt people like they do. She won't. Life is hard now, but there must be more, right? She can cope, she can...
Does she even have a reason for living anymore, or is she just fooling herself?
Evan is a normal guy. He was one, and he still is.
While everyone acts as if this is the end of the world, he refuses to believe it. There's always hope, always answers, and he's determined to find them. Everyone says it's pointless, that he's risking too much, but even if he can help just one person...
The world isn't over, it needs guidance towards a new beginning, and Evan's going to help it get there.
When Sadie and Evan meet in this soulless, heartless, hopeless world, their lives are inadvertently and inextricably bound together by fate. He can't actually like her, can he? She's so much different. There's no way for him to help her, is there? He doesn't know where to start. They can't stay together. They can't...
But what if they're both willing to ignore their differences and just... try?
Unfortunately, life isn't so simple. Amidst danger and disaster, deceit, treachery, and hate, it seems like the entire world is against them. Trapped, lost, alone, cold and isolated, betrayed and Breathless, can they overcome all obstacles and rescue not just themselves, but each other?
Sweet, sensual, and alluring. This paranormal story of attraction and desire, suspense, danger, and fighting against the odds will captivate you, fascinate you, and leave you feeling spellbound.
I honestly have mixed feelings about this book. On one hand, it is a very interesting concept that really piqued my interest. Zombie romances are difficult to write and I have to say that this is one of the better stories that I’ve read. The main problem I had with this book is the insta-love. I don’t feel like I’m giving away too much of a spoiler since it happens so early in the book, but 15% of the way into it, the two main characters were already in bed together. I want a little more build-up to the big event. I want to cheer when the characters finally get together or at least understand their reasoning for getting together. I found myself enjoying the story outside of the romance more then the romance itself. Many times the sex felt like an interruption. I don’t read many romance novels so maybe I’m simply not accustomed to this writing style.
As I mentioned, I found the non-romance part of this book very entertaining. The supporting characters were interesting and added a lot to the story.
One thing I found a bit strange was the changes in POV. Not a huge deal, just something that I thought was a little awkward.
I was given this book free in exchange for an honest review.
First and foremost I would like to thank Netgalley and Fido Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this book.
I was initially drawn to this book because it sounded original. Not very often do you read about zombie romances. From the very beginning I knew I loved the writing style. I really liked the way that the point of views were done, 1st person for the main character and 3rd person when Evan was being written about. I loved the 1st person point of view because I got to be inside a zombie's head, I think that this was done very well. You were often thrown into disarray as Sadie didn't know what was going on. This aspect made the story come to life.
This story had a good amount of both the suspense factor and the romance factor. Knowing that Cerys du Lys was primarily a romance author I was afraid that the romance would overshadow the storyline. I think that she did a good job balancing both aspects of the story. I think I would have liked one more action scene though.
Sadie's different in a world with kinda Zombies she's not like the rest them, she wants to be warm but she won't go to the extremes others go to, to find it. Evan well he's just a plain old human one of the few left living with others like him in the woods trying to survive, he wants to find a cure but everyone else thinks it's not gonna happen. When Sadie and Evan meet their both scared but their also curious and when they realize the other won't hust them they become close. It's dangerous in so many ways, but they can't fight their attraction even if no one else understands their relationship. As they try to figure things out danger lurks just around the corner, but is it from freinds or foes and what will they have to do to be together?
This story is totally different from anything I've read before in a way it's kinda like the movie Warm Bodies where just because their precived bad doesn't mean they really are. Sadie is just a confused girl surviving the best she can under extreme circumstances, and Evan is a good guy who doesn't want to turn his back on the world even when everyone else wants him to . He is such a sweetie trying to do the right thing and in the process he finds his own happiness, but if he wants to keep it he'll have to fight for it. This story has and ending, sort of, but it leaves open the possibility for more in the future and I for one would love to see more.
Unique Zombie Romance Trilogy!! Loved it!! I received this book in an ARC set entitled Love Charms. Part 1 -Soulless: This is the first book I have read by Cerys du Lys and it definitely won't be my last! I have to admit that I don't usually pick Zombie stories but this one is so unique and beautiful written! I got caught up in Evan and Sadie's story. I enjoyed every second of the beginning of their romance! 5 Stars! Part 2 - Heartless: The Breathless series continues in Part 2 with Evan and Sadie. Though complete opposites, (one alive the other barely due to the Zombie virus) their love and passion for each other burns hotter with every caress. Though danger awaits them outside they manage to stick together! Well written and sweetly passionate! Can't wait to continue their story in Part 3 Hopeless! 5 Stars!! Part 3 - Hopeless: The conclusion of Evan and Sadie's story or really a hopeful beginning! Cerys du Lys Has written a beautiful (and sometimes erotic) romance between two unlikely beings in a post apocalyptic world! I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this story since I am not a fan of Zombie stories! The ending leaves their story open for the reader's hopeful interpretation. 5 Stars!!
I received this book free from the author for a honest and fair review.
I honestly didn’t think I would like this book because of the whole Zombie thing, not my cup of tea, but I did enjoy this book so much so that I read it almost nonstop to the end. It is different than anything I have read with the whole end of the world and Zombie theme, primarily because I have never purchased a book with Zombies. The main characters are very likeable and have you cheering them on. This book contains fear, acceptance, mystery, love, hope, and some sex.
One of the things I took away from this book, whether it was intended or not, was how important it is to accept people for who they are as individuals at the present time. Even though you may look, talk, or walk differently, you shouldn't be judged on that for who you are as a person. Appearances are deceiving. I do like books that I can take something away from when I am done reading - even from a Zombie book. Would I buy another book like this from Cerys if there ever was to be one? Surprisingly to me, and I hope there is one, yes.
I received it in exchange of an honest review... And i am so glad!!!! MUST READ ALERT!!!!! This book is an amazing addition to paranormal and romance lovers' lives!!!! Completely new to the paranormal scene (at least to me!) this book is a refreshing revelation!!! Enough of vampires and co, we are dealing with a new kind of paranormal!!! I won't go into details because first I hate spoilers and honestly everybody needs to read this book!!! Very well written, with great and close to the heart characters, with a logical, interesting and refreshing story full of action, burning sexiness and suspense, this book is a page turner!! You can't put it down!!! I am not an "affecionada" of paranormal (only 3 other authors makes it possible for me to read some!) but i can honestly say that this book is in my top list and very well placed in the romance department too: Evan and Sadie welcome to my best couple list!!! Only one problem for me: When is the release date of the second book???? I NEED MORE!!!!
** I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.** Breathless is a good zombie type book. The term 'paranormal' just doesn't fit this book though. At least that's my opinion. But what do I know? I liked the premise of this story in regards to the fact that it's not like every other story out there. This one holds the unique romance between 2 people that is shunned by others. It plays out well. I enjoyed the characters. I liked how this book was written. This is a good book to add to your tbr list.
WOW! I had no clue this would have been so awesome, the beginning was a tad slow, and yes I understand that is common when setting it up, but this was awesome. I am seriously a bit shocked on how much I really enjoyed this...page after page it just kept getting better and better. I wish that I got to this book so much sooner...although I could have definitely read a couple hundred more pages.
What a story! I couldn't put it down. I loved the story line and the twists to the story. This was so easy to read, and I loved it so much, it'll be one I read again. The style of writing draws you in, and is so easy to read. Loved the living "zombie" / human concept. I could rave about this one for ages. If you haven't read it....get it!

I found this book to be an amazing read and it is something different from the normal paranormal romances that I have read before. I found it to be well written and it draws you in so that you don't want to put it down.
Would I recommend yes I would, if you like paranormal reads then this is the book for you.
Wow I really love her work her story's reach in to you and drag you into her stories and Make you wish the story will never end. I loved how this isn't ur typical story about zombies it has a lot of heart n well written. I. Hope there is more to their story.

Zombies are less over-used in young adult paranormal fiction than a lot of supernatural creatures, but even so, I do have some mixed feelings about this book.
On the one hand... I found it really easy to relate to Sadie's character in this book. I felt that the author did a really good job of showing how confused and disorientated Sadie was most of the time. I could really relate to her as a character.
I found it a bit more difficult when it came to Sadie and Evan's relationship. I think that things moved a bit too fast with them, with not really enough build-up.
It was interesting that there was some technology that people could still use, such as generators and solar power. I thought that made a lot of sense.
The idea behind the zombie thing was a pretty interesting and unique one. I would have liked some more details about the history behind how people in the world became these creatures, though.
I liked the fact that none of the characters were truly evil. They all came across as quite well-rounded, even those who weren't very nice.
I did think that the book didn't need to switch between first and third person, or past and present tense. That was confusing, especially the switching of tenses.
I did notice a few errors in the book, but nothing that was really major.
I am curious to see what will happen to the characters next. If there's a sequel to this, I would definitely be interested in reading it.
I received this book from the author and the Making Connections Group in exchange for a honest review.
My Thoughts: I thought the romance was lacking. In essence, they meet at the library, go to her home, make love and are essentially together from then on. There was no build up to their relationship at all. This book could have been a great reverse beauty and the beast story, but that was never developed. The book was way too short and ended with a lot of questions unanswered. What happens to Sadie(heroine) and Evan(hero) after they arrive at the theater? Do they stay there forever? What happens to Desiree's character? After Sadie, Evan, and Desiree escape from Alex, what does Alex do? Does Evan ever find a cure for the virus that turned people into zombies? I also did not like the way the author switched from 1st POV to 3rd POV. I really don't care for 1st POV. I can't get into the story as much.
The Story: Sadie has recently been turned into a zombie and longs for the life she had before the virus infected her. She goes to the library on a nearby university campus and meets Evan who is already there looking at medical books. Evan is trying to find a cure for the virus that caused humans to turn into zombies. Not long after, other zombies try to attack Evan and they both escape. Sadie brings Evan to her home in the woods. After they make love, Evan leaves and promises to return. The rest of the book centers around Sadie and Evan's relationship.
In conclusion, a zombie romance that lacked romance and was too short.
Really love the concept of this book, it was an entire take on the zombie state and a simple and comprehensible explanation without being too scientific and technical about what caused it.I also like how the symptoms were described and what people that are like that experienced every day. I did like both main characters, Sadie and Evan, as well as Desiree and Johnny.
This story contains quite explicit sex which I have no problems with, but it is so early on (which at first I really didn't mind) and sometimes it feels like it's kind of in-between the story so I felt like when the story wanted to get serious, a sex scene came on and it kind of dissapointed me since it kind of spoiled the moment. Regardless of some things, I still did like the book by it's unique concept, and it was kind of a let down that it ended with no ending whatsoever, but I know that it was a short story and I admit that if it ended so quickly, which how things were progressing, it would be kind of far fetched and none too believable, so it was the right choice. Hope it gets other installments like the author says in the afterwords.
I'll keep reading some other books by the author, which I already done, because she really has potential and I like how her books are written.

For more of my reviews go to http://amberleannbookreviews.blogspot... My Rating -3/5- A free copy was received in exchange for an honest review. This is an adult paranormal romance that does have sexual scenes in it. Basically it's 3 books, well more like three short stories or so. Each book or so is only about 40 or so pages long and when all three are put together its only about 121 pages so not a long story. It's a little weird because most of its from Sadie's point of view, and in first person. Though when it follows Evan and Sadie isn't around it goes to third person, which was honestly pretty weird. It was short and not extremely detailed but it did get what it needed to across so it all worked out.
Unfortunately, I just couldn't get in to this. I found it very contradictory & didn't really explain the 'disease' enough for me to actually understand it properly. But the constant 'I can't remember things' or 'I forget what I'm doing' got tiresome seeing as she trekked to the same house every night or remembered going to college, favourite shops etc.
