David Clensy has written a number of non-fiction and fiction books, including Island Life: A History of Looe Island (2006), The Mole of Edge Hill (2006), Walking The Wolds Way (2007), As Wide As All The World (2021) and Walking the White Horses (2023).

In February 2024 he released his debut novel, Prayer in Time of War.

In July 2023 he won the Frome Festival Short Story Competition Local Prize. His short stories have also been long-listed in the Cranked Anvil Short Story Prize 2022 and short-listed in the Wells Festival of Literature Short Story Competition 2022.

In July 2024, he signed a five-book deal with historical fiction specialist Sapere Books to deliver a series of World War II naval thrillers. The first of the series, For Those In Peril, will be published in August 2025.
