The son of two musicians from East Germany, he later moved west with his family, and worked in numerous jobs. In 1997, he gave up his last job as a translator to become a full-time writer, quickly becoming popular through his Julia Durant series of crime/mystery novels. Franz lived near Frankfurt with his wife and four children until his death from heart failure at the age of 57.

Kein Krimi, kein Thriller, von allem etwas und vor allem: eigenartige Leute in einer eigenartigen Stadt, die alle Dreck am Stecken haben und das Ganze ein wenig fad erzählt

Richtig enttäuscht, es ist kein Krimi sondern eher ein Roman über ein versoffenes,gewalttätiges Dorf mit Problemen.

Eine Mischung aus Dallas und Twister in der oberfränkischen Provinz.
