When Richard Paul Evans wrote the #1 best-seller, The Christmas Box, he never intended on becoming an internationally known author. His quiet story of parental love and the true meaning of Christmas made history when it became simultaneously the #1 hardcover and paperback book in the nation. Since then, more than eight million copies of The Christmas Box have been printed. He has since written eleven consecutive New York Times bestsellers. He is one the few authors in history to have hit both the fiction and non-fiction bestseller lists. He has won several awards for his books including the 1998 American Mothers Book Award, two first place Storytelling World Awards, and the 2005 Romantic Times Best Women Novel of the Year Award. His books have been translated into more than 22 languages and several have been international best sellers.
I personally really liked the book and its plot and key of events, however, there were points in the book where all they were doing was preparing and planning for battle, and this typically lasted around 1-2 chapters so I found it very boring and it was really hard to read on those parts, and I couldn't concentrate when reading those parts and I wasn't really paying attention so when it came time for the actual battle it was a little confusing because things that I did not remember from earlier chapters would come up and it would be really hard to make sense of it. Also Ostin in the book I found very annoying because he would say useless facts which would make the periods of planning before battle even more confusing. It was also very confusing because there are 10+ characters with many different powers and there were many different times when they split up such as in the beginning when some when to the caves and others when like around and also there were many different instances when people were speaking spanish which make
I really liked this book. It was hard to put down. The character outline and backstory is believable in how they react to situations. It's a little darker, maybe because there is more death in this book. I look forward to the last installment of this series because the cliffhanger was motivated by revenge. I wouldn't read this book out of sequence of the series; you might not understand what's going on. So in that, I definitely encourage you to read this whole series in it's entirety.
I was skeptical about this book because I thought the series ended and this was the author’s attempt to resurrect an old series (which it kind of is), but when you have a great story teller like Richard Paul Evan’s, he can make it work. This book has all the same things you loved about the series, interesting characters, great storyline and tons of action. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.
