This book was 'just ok' to me. It was a quick read with super-short chapters, but then it is considered a "handbook."
In the acknowledgements, the author thanks her two sisters, named April and Amber and I thought those three names for three girls (Autumn is the author) were nice.
Has anyone, ever, in the history of time, ever followed a sample meal plan? Being told what to eat for three meals a day plus snacks, for days or weeks in a row? I personally do not believe so, and few of the foods represented are foods I eat so I did not find that page helpful.
Recipes are included in the back of this book, including one for the ever elusive EGG BAKE.
Autumn’s book contains practical steps that anyone can implement to improve their blood sugar health. This book is easy to digest and is appropriate for practitioners and the general public.
A topic often thought of after a diabetes diagnosis, this book provides action steps you can take today to improve blood sugar health which impacts your entire body, not just your risk of developing diabetes.
This is a must read for anyone looking to better understand and improve their overall health!
Highly recommend if you’re like me and just get overwhelmed when people talk about nutrition and your brain short circuits. Autumn does a great job of making a topic that we might “know” about super approachable and digestable (pun obvious). Very actionable steps. I have like 100 pages marked with things I can do, and I already started reading “added sugars” on every label!
What a great book to jump start thinking on some health things I wouldn’t typically think about! I love how the author laid out the vitamins and minerals and what they do in your body and I really love the meal plan- the turkey taco casserole is a fav at our house now!
The blood sugar handbook portion of the book is very informative with short chapters explaining blood sugar and how various foods and other factors impact levels.
I found the recipe section a little underwhelming (Beef and Veggie Chili calls for 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder to a pound of beef!), but I’ve marked a few to try.
