BEDTIME BLITZ! is a delightful celebration of getting ready for bed. The story is told in a rhyming poem as animals rush to get ready in the bedtime blitz! They brush teeth, take a bath, put on pajamas, and more as they head towards bedtime. Pull tabs on most pages add to the fun with some interactive elements.
What I loved: This is a clever and fun poetic text that rhymes throughout. This makes it slide off the tongue and sound fantastic when read aloud. Getting ready for bed can be tough for little ones, as they may not always enjoy the process. This book celebrates the rush for bedtime and all the things that must be done along the way, encouraging little ones to enjoy their process too - in the bedtime blitz! The animals are expressive and full of fun throughout, with great detail and use of muted colors that work perfectly at bedtime. While the text is high energy, it is overwhelmingly positive and leads to sleep, so it would work very well for a bedtime pick.
The pull tabs are great, and the book is very thick to go around them. The actions that happen when the tabs are pulled are enclosed in plastic, which makes them stand up to rougher little fingers. They are all very clever actions showing the bed time steps, such as making an animal move the toothbrush over their teeth. These are perfect for toddlers who love to play with their books. Combined with the rhymes and the length, this is really designed well for toddlers and preschoolers.
Final verdict: A delightful celebration of the bedtime process, BEDTIME BLITZ! is an interactive board book that combines rhymes and charming animals to encourage young readers to enjoy the getting ready process. Highly recommend for toddlers and preschoolers!

Bedtime gets a new level of fun with this read...and it's sure to become a favorite.
Already the animals on the front invite in with their friendly smiles and waves. Then, there's the first lever right on the cover. So, this one catches the attention right away. Bedtime preparations hit one by one, starting with a big bath full of animals (scrubbing away with bubbles and the next lever of motion) and ending with an exciting pillow fight. Still, it does settle for a last moment of calming vibes, which settle to dreams and sleep.
This is a very solid board book with levers made from plastic to make them extra strong. The moving images are placed behind a clear, plastic window to protect the moving parts and help them last longer. The levers work easily and click into place to keep them from easily ripping out and ruining the fun. That means it's not a light book, but I do appreciate the robust thoughts and enjoy how smoothly they work.
The movements aren't overly extreme but stay calm while promoting fun. There's always a sense of group fun thanks to the row of animals. The lighter coloring and simple lines fit well to the age group well.
The text is written in lyrical rhyme, which flows very nicely and leads through the scenes nicely. Only the last page didn't rhyme, which bothered me but not the kids. They enjoyed the book just the way it is and gave it an immediate 'again'.

Bedtime Blitz! by Matthew Van Fleet is SUCH a fun book. First of all, the storyline is a blast to read out loud and as it’s centered around getting ready for bed, it makes a perfect bedtime routine read. Second, the artwork is adorable. It’s so fun to see what each animal is up to every step of the way (I think the alligator is my favorite!)! And then there’s the very cool element of the pull tabs to make things move on the page. This is such a hit with my little guy! There’s even a special little surprise on the very last page. This is a book every kiddo needs!

Sleepy parents rejoice! A go-to-bed book kids will always want to read! My kids always love Van Fleet books with their adorable illustrations and always fun moveable tabs. I love how this book goes through the bedtime routine so kids can see that, its not just you, they should bathe, brush their teeth, and go to sleep! A fun book for bedtime or just in general.

Mom and 1 year old Leo both love it. Mom especially loves the plastic over the moving elements, which keeps Leo from ripping them out.
