The bad boys of webcomics are back with a new collection of strips and sass!
Once again, creators Kris Wilson, Rob DenBleyker, and Dave McElfatrick combine some of their best strips and a host of never-before-seen comics into a new, collected book. In the best, sickest tradition, Cyanide & Happiness’ simply drawn figures and the wildly inappropriate topics they cover—including cannibalism, murder, and incest—is most reminiscent of South Park, but offers a profane sensibility all its own. Includes a foreword by comedian Bo Burnham and Poetry Corner, a collection of demented rhymes.
Cyanide & Happiness is one of the longest-running, most popular, humor comic strips on the web, easily earning millions of hits per week. With its crudely drawn art and snarky humor, Cyanide & Happiness has touched many a funny bone and is accessible to a legion of fans worldwide.
Un librito muy divertido, se lee super rápido y es genial para matar el tiempo cuando no quieres leer nada pesado.
Lleno de humor negro y extremadamente acido. ¿Como es este tipo de humor? You ask.
I read this book because i have seen some of their morbid humor online and wanted to see more. Little did i know what it had in store. The most crude humor and violent cartoons that would mentally scare a even the hardest of men. so i thought it was highlarious. i would recomend it to anyone who's got a few minutes to kill because this is truly worth the time.
This is a minor improvement on the previous volume, mainly due to not having a choose-your-own-adventure section (the poetry is equally as disturbing as the comics). Other than a couple of the comics that seemed to be reruns from the previous volume (or I just ran across them somewhere else), it seems a little less extreme. Or perhaps I've gotten more acclimated to their type of tasteless but still really funny comics.
Cyanide and Happiness's gleeful dark humor continues in this volume. The wit is actually a little sharper in this volume, but it failures, it can go into the range of somewhat generic toilet humor. The good strips are worth the price of the book.
Very funny, perfectly offensive, tragic, and hilarious like a true comedy. The introduction by Bo Burnham was a lovely touch to start it all off. I love how each set of panels was strategically placed which kept a steady pace through the whole book.
Bad content and very inappropriate, sadly poisonous in most pictures and dialogues, truly a humiliating unhappy reading experience for anyone who has consciousness.
Second collection of comics by these authors that I’ve read. Some recycled strips from the first book were in here. The poems had potential at the end, and some were funny, but most missed the mark. Still a solid collection though
You know I don't care much for works that feature needless profanity, but I knew what I was getting into when I got this book from the library on hoopla so no criticism there.
In fact, this is a very funny book - I really enjoyed it! And you've got to be ready for some shock humor, but if you are then you'll probably enjoy it too.
I used to read these comics back in the day when I was in high school. I finally got the chance to read an actual comic book and not snippets on random sites here and there.
I think the jokes are really good for how quick they are. If I were to write comedy, I would hope to be able to tell a joke in four panels like these writers.
I see these comics all the time and they’re pretty funny so I assumed a book of them would be worth a read. The book was just ok in my opinion. The funniest ones are the ones that are popular. Don’t regret checking it out though.
There are some really good ones and some truly awful ones. I would give this 4 stars, except a bunch of the comics in this book were repeats of ones used in the Guide to Parenting. Was there not enough material to make two books with different content? Come on.
“Son, I think you are old enough for me to tell you this... Santa 🎅 isn’t real. He’s made up so kids will behave. Like how Jesus was made up for adults to behave?” 😂
“I’ve playing soothing music through headphones to my baby bump to bond with it. What a coincidence! I’ve been doing that with my sperm! This is the ‘Jaws’ theme. It’s to help them swim faster”. 🦈 😮 😂
“The sheep goes blah 🐑 The cow says meh 🐮 The horse says nah 🐴 The farmer says eh? 🤔”
Hilarious and refreshing. First Cyanide & Happiness book I read; and definitely will devore more!
Admittedly, there were some parts of this I found amusing, but there were a lot that rubbed me the wrong way. I was going to give this a higher rating, but in the last third of the book, there was a rape joke, a Holocaust joke, and a blackface joke.
Just skip this, honestly. The clever bits are not worth the horrifying feeling of being smacked upside the head with “jokes” about horrible and serious issues.
Stupidly funny! I laughed out loud several times. Fans of Cyanide & Happiness cartoons will likely love this book, but despite the crazy/cute stick figures, this book is definitely written for adults! ;)
While I appreciate the time, effort, and dedication it takes to produce comics, I must say this one is not my cuppa. It strikes me as base and vulgar, to which I'm not opposed, but the combination fell flat here.
I think I borrowed this to try and justify my subscription to Kindle Unlimited... I've cancelled it now. Occasionally, I would like one of the skits, but these were few and far between. Overall, I just didn't find this funny, other people will and that's great, but this just wasn't for me.
