In the year 2025, huge beasts from beyond the galaxy attacked Earth. In the war that followed, humanity fought back with a giant robot named Yukio, piloted by Tetsuo Yabusame. As the massive alien swarm closed in on humanity’s homeworld, Tetsuo and the Earth Defense Force deployed for the final battle with the invading horde. They lost...

After meeting the survivors of the icy apocalypse who are holed up in Mishima Mall, Tetsuo tries a few attempts at making friends. His defeat of the kaiju that attacked the mall has made him a hero to the inhabitants, but before he can establish any firm relationships, a new threat appears. Another band of human survivors, led by the mysterious Colonel, wants to seize control of the mall—and they have their own kaiju to do it with!

2.5. This series feels like it wants to be an run on vibes “aura farming” (which I use against my dislike for how it waters down series) battle series a la Sakamoto Days, JJK, and Bleach. But its attempt ends up weak with inconsistent art and characters you just don't get time or writing to attach to.
Ok so this volume is just fights which shows a bit of a glaring issue I have with how they are handled in this series. Most fights were pretty boring. They mostly consist of people just using their powers and then shouting Predation Posture before their even stronger attack or transformation for some hype or something. I'm not entirely against slug fest battles like these but once you throw in the hard to read fights and meh characters in the Light of the E-RDE which is over half the combatants it gets pretty boring. I do think having Kaiju Tamers as these sort of psychically linked bio-mechas (at least that seems to be the goal) is a neat concept but the designs just air on top goofy or misshapen for me along with the writing just not giving enough time for them.
The Light of the E-RDE just are pretty boring as enemies. They're a extremists anti-Tetsuo faction that overtook the E-RDE or part of it? It's a bit unclear as SnowBall Earth loves to only do short and quick explanations that don't fully reveal enough. And so many lack characterization beyond basic personality traits, one or two unique design elements, and their Kaiju. And the only one with a bunch of characterization so far is the leader who I like the least as the writer wants to have his cake and eat it too by having him be so cartoonish while also having serious moments. I also find his backstory weak. He's a fairly well-enough ranked member that it's fusing why he's upset that Tetsuo would end the conflict. I get he wants to the hero that saves it all but at the position he's at where he can create entire secret projects that undermine other projects he should be able to weigh the benefits of exterminating the Kaiju over being salty that he wasn't good enough to be at the front-line as a “savior” like only Tetsuo could.
