Wow! What a trip. I honestly did not know what to expect. I met the author at a book signing at a local store. He said I might like it since my preferred genre is a mix of romance/scifi/paranormal/historical. I decided to give it a try.

The book sat for a while and I kept contemplating the cover trying to get a feel for it. I finally cracked the book open and began to unravel the mystery of the cover. It was old world and damp looking. I was immediately intrigued by the lead characters. Being a romance reader, I thought this will have a good romance. This could only happen in time.

Conal and Abby, find there could be something to their relationship but their circumstances prevent them from nurturing what could be. We (I say "we" because I was there with them, at least I felt like it) spend our days and nights trying not to alter history and yet trying to do what human nature does for a normal person and that is to try and save lives. There is a desperation in the romance and their desire to leave that place.

The historical events and people in the story I was able to validate in my own fact checking.

I really enjoyed the historical event of 1888 Whitechapel, London and Jack the Ripper being told by someone who already knew about it and desperately trying to keep his love interest from being a "victim" of the Ripper. I did not think the character of Abby was as strong as Conal, and at times she is over shadowed by the others in this story. However, as the days moved on and her own survival or coping mechanism with their situation evolved she began to develop a close relationship with the others which they needed and she needed despite the danger she may be in.

I really began to have a concern for Abby's well being, and Conal's quest for what will get them out of there and his need to help save lives.

This book is worth the read. It can be very hard to not give out too many spoilers to give this a detailed review. Lots of details. Oh if you suspect something is up with the Old Neighbor Lady well I can tell you........ This book is available through Amazon. Try it. This is to be the beginning of a series so it gives you a glimpse into the next book.
