While there have been countless articles and blog posts written about the topic, most of them are content with making fun of fake leather textures and praising "minimalism".
With this essay, I wanted to dig Why did skeuomorphism and realism became popular in the first place? Why are they now experiencing a backlash, with many designers embracing the "flat design" movement? And what was the iPhone's role in all this?
