The Boyfriend List

Rate this book
The Boyfriend List follows twenty-year-old Reagan in her quest for the perfect relationship after a somewhat tragic spring break breakup leaves her disillusioned about love... again.

Reagan had always prided herself on making levelheaded, practical, analytical decisions about everything. Everything, that is, except where guys are concerned. Which was proven to her, once again, when her “boyfriend” opts to take another girl on their oh-so-romantic trip to his lake house. In order to prevent future heartbreak, she creates a checklist of all the qualities she wants in a man, and vows not to give her heart away again until she can determine if they fit every last criteria.

After scouring campus with her two best friends in her tricky journey, her detective work returns a pile of unworthy rejects, and it seems as though her choices are narrowed down to only two options: the hot stranger who’s inspired her new project, and her best guy friend Ian, who she’s always kept at bay due to his perceived playboy reputation.

Reagan gets more than she bargained for with her new set of rules, however, and is surprised to find that love, and the perfect boyfriend, may have been within reach the entire time. But will Ian’s reputation ruin his chances to prove his worth? And can Reagan let go of her insecurities long enough to even give him a chance?

The Boyfriend List was a pleasant surprise! I wasn’t really sure what to expect with this story because I just started reading it without even checking out the blurb before-hand. Many authors out there are constantly categorizing their books as “New Adult” when they really are not within the boundaries of this specific genre. The Boyfriend List is a perfect example of what a New Adult novel should contain within its pages.

I liked how this author easily developed and introduced every character. I seriously felt like I was reading a real life story developing right before my eyes between Reagan and Ian. These characters were not over the top dramatic or full of extreme emotional stresses. Instead they were your typical everyday college students, trying to get through classes, find love and gain acceptance from everyone all at the same time.

I fell in love with Ian very early in the story. He is your typical everyday guy with this huge heart. And he is VERY SMART and VERY HOT which are a perfect mix with any man! I thought the idea of making a “boyfriend list” to find a compatible match for Reagan was a fun, creative and entertaining one to read. I kept rooting for Reagan to quit trying so hard to find that perfect man because of her silly list of requirements.

Did she find her perfect guy? Well, you will have to just read The Boyfriend List to find out for yourself. 

I really enjoyed this story from start to finish! If you are a loyal New Adult lover, then you will really like this fun, light-hearted romance.

I give The Boyfriend List 4 LIST LOVIN’ STARS!

So so fun. This is a fun light read that will have your sides hurt from laughing at Reagan's misadventures to find out how many checks on her perfect boyfriend list she can check off about Brett, and smiling so hard at her and Ian that your lip muscles will ache.

Reagan has a horrible spring break when her boyfriend cheats on her. She keeps this hidden all week from everyone until her friend comes home. They go get dinner and she spills. while at dinner she sees a stranger and is attracted but is hesitant because of her bruised ego and hurt heart. When she finally plucks up the courage to meet this stranger who wants a relationship (she overheard the conversation) it is too late. So what does she do? In a drunken moment Reagan comes up with a list of characteristics needed to be her boyfriend. Her and her friend are now on a mission to find her a man who fits the criteria. Meanwhile her best guy friend who is secretly in love with her fits the bill and she is purposefully finding excuses as to why she doesn't feel for him.

Ian the best friend loves Reagan. He is afraid to tell her and watches her silently go out over the years with momos. Absolute douche canoes. I mean her track record is not good. To mask his pain he dates alot but is always always there for Reagan. He does see the list and finds it hysterical. so now he is on a mission for her to see him really see him.

Ian is so fun and great. You will fall in love with him instantly. Reagan you feel for at the beginning, laugh along at her bumbling adventures and root for in the end to see what is right in front of her.

This is a hysterical fun brilliantly written story about two friends who have feelings for each other but are scared to act on them until it is almost to late. About a girl protecting her heart by going on a hunt for the perfect boyfriend which leads to some hysterical adventures but also to finding the one where she resists the most. A great book to curl up with and get lost in the hysterics and fun as these two come together and let go of all their misgivings, insecurities and fears.

What a super cute, easy read! I totally enjoyed this light read!

Reagan is a college student with the WORST history when it comes to men, so she's decided to build a list with her best friend. If a guy doesn't fit onto this list then he's not meant for her. But of course it's the guy next door Ian who Reagan forces into the friend zone because she just won't give her heart another chance.

Reagan is such an awesome name for a girl, so from the beginning I knew I was going to enjoy this book. Her best friend is basically her complete opposite, but the two of them together is highly entertaining. And Ian... love him! Even though his reputation is a little iffy, he's definitely a character I liked.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Definitely fun and cute and more YA than New Adult to me. I'm giving this book 4 STARS out of 5 STARS. I'll definitely have to check out more of R.S. Novelle's work in the future!

My Review
4 Roses

For most of us girls, we've had our hearts broken once or twice, at least. We can relate to Reagan's pain, and her frustration with finding the perfect guy. It kind of makes sense: make a list of the pros, and don't date anyone who doesn't have them. Simple, easy to remember, heart-ache free.

Reagan does just that, playing to her organized and list-making personality trait. She has a sympathetic best friend in Petra to help her in her plan to interview the guys on campus, and see if any are worth dating. She has another best friend, who's finding her situation and plan amusing while he helps her regain her confidence. What she doesn't know, is that he wants a chance with her, and it just so happens, he's one of the last possibly date-able guys on campus. Throw together emotional girls, college guys, margaritas, a huge blowout party and hot cars, and you're bound to have a very memorable time.

I think the biggest surprise for me with this book, is that all this happened in one week! It's enough to make anyone crazy, to have one's whole life flip-flop so much in a short period of time. Reagan's feelings are relatable, I think, and you want to support her and see her happy. I also love the fact that Petra is such a great best friend, supporting Reagan in her crazy plans, all while knowing what will make her truly happy.

The only reason I took off a star, is because the POV changed between characters several times without warning, making it somewhat confusing to read. The writing also switched from first person, to third person, to narrative several times, and wasn't very consistent. Overall though, this is a very good read, for any New Adult, Light Contemporary Romance, Chick-Lit fans. It's clean, humorous, and inspiring, and with just enough twists and turns to keep you biting your nails, desperately hoping it'll work out well for Ian and Reagan. It's a quick read, and one I would definitely recommend.

I give The Boyfriend List by R.S. Novelle 4 of 5 STARS! I loved this amazing new adult read and really was drawn in from the beginning. I could NOT put this book down and I loved every minute of it! The author did an amazing job for me at developing her main characters and I found myself in love with each of them. Reagan, Petra, and Ian truly made the story what it was for me. I loved the overall plot of the book and I found that I really had to know what was going to happen next and could not atop reading. This was a fast paced, clean and straightforward read for sure and I found myself backing Ian the entire time. I am not going to go into serious detail about the story itself because you can read the attached synopsis from Goodreads for that, but I will say that you need to read...no make that you HAVE to read this amazingly fun, new adult novel! I hope there is a sequel possibly??? I need more with Ian and Reagan!:)

Here is the synopsis for the book from Goodreads:

The Boyfriend List follows twenty-year-old Reagan in her quest for the perfect relationship after a somewhat tragic spring break breakup leaves her disillusioned about love... again.

Reagan had always prided herself on making levelheaded, practical, analytical decisions about everything. Everything, that is, except where guys are concerned.

The Boyfriend List is a light, New Adult romance about friendship, trust, and learning to let go in order to embrace what real love can offer.

***I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.**

From the very first chapter I was hooked. Renee Novelle does a fantastic job with grabbing the reader's attention and exploring the complexity of each character. And she has no problem with diving right into the plot. The story starts off with Reagan, a college student who just found out her boyfriend cheated on her with the top skank. So, her and her best friend Petra, decide the best and more logical way to find the perfect man is to create a list of qualities and requirements that each candidate must possess. But there's Ian; her sexy, hot, smart, and flirtatious friend who will stop at nothing to prove to her that he is her perfect choice.

This is a very sweet and cute love story. I really enjoyed reading about Reagan and her crazy schemes of trying to find the right guy for her. After being hurt and burned by so many guys; it's hard for her to trust anyone; let alone a new guy. I can understand why she's so apprehensive about anyone who shows interest; its just a defense mechanism. Petra is great as well. She always says like it is and is never scared to just spit out the truth and smack you in the face with it. Ian...oh Ian...man is he smooth! Loved him!!!

Overall, this was a very nice story and I would have liked to read a little more about Reagan and Ian as I feel it ended a little too soon. I'm hoping there is a novella or even a sequel because I'd love to find out what happens next!! I would recommend this to anyone who wants a quick, fun, and sweet read about first loves and realizing that all you've ever wanted, is what's been staring back at you the whole time.

The Boyfriend List isn’t in the usual genre that I read. The summary of the book caught my eye however and I was really intrigued by it and really wanted to read it. I am so glad I did! This was such a nice story.

This is a YA story where the main character is down to earth and trying to protect herself from being hurt…again.

Reagan makes lists for various things in her life so why not one that would narrow down the perfect boyfriend? Her best friends think this is a crazy idea but go with it in order to help her out. Through the story, the reader knows whom Reagan should be with but, like Reagan, we are hesitant to have her pursue it. Then there is the really hot stranger that we would like to know more about and we end up being just as torn as Reagan.

On top of being curious as to which guy would make the best boyfriend, there is an issue near the end that had me almost yelling at the main character. During this part, I found myself reading faster so I could see the final outcome of the situation. I do not want to say any more about this part because I am afraid to give anything away. You will enjoy though!

Once the book was over, everything was tied up nicely. I found myself wishing here was more because I came to really like the characters. When I found out that there is a second book that picks up where this on left off, I was completely psyched. So look for a review for the second book!

As someone who mainly keeps to Paranormal, Horror, Scifi, I was surprised that I really liked a YA Romance. This is a quick, light, read that will leave you smiling.

The Boyfriend List by Renee Novelle is a book I'd classify as a sweet college age contemporary romance. It was a quick easy read, and I thought it flowed well from the beginning to the end. There were also moments I laughed out loud as I was reading.
I think part of what drew me into the story and made it such a fast, yet entertaining read were the characters. I wanted to continue reading to find out what was going to happen next. The day I started the book, I found myself half-way through before I knew it. I guess that's how much I was drawn in. I think Renee did a great job in developing them so they felt like real people. Reagan was the main female lead, and I liked her from the beginning of the book.
When I read about what had happened to her in her relationship, I thought her reaction was interesting – the titular “boyfriend list” she made listing qualities she was looking for in a boyfriend. I also liked her roommate Petra, who was there as a source of encouragement, not to mention she was there when Reagan needed her the most over the course of the book. She was entertaining in her own right, and I definitely liked her. As for Ian, I grew to like him more and more as I continued to read the story. There were times when he could be funny, and I found myself cheering for him a little bit as the story progressed. I'll also state I had a smile on my face at the end of the book.
Overall, I definitely enjoyed The Boyfriend List. Entertaining, and a fast read. I recommend it to anyone who likes college age romance and contemporary romance. My rating is 4/5 stars.

Reagan Carter was cheated on again. Her roommate helps her get back in the game and aids in creating a list to sort and measure potentials in her quest to find the perfect man, someone she might already know.

Fun and carefree, this is the kind of novel where you knew what was going to happen but wanted to read the how of it anyway. A cute story to read on a lazy afternoon, I enjoyed every page and did not want to stop. If it were made into a movie, it would be a cute, feel-good romantic comedy. Definitely a chick flick.

I loved the characters in this book. They were believable, especially Reagan. (How funny is her name being named after two Presidents, Reagan and Carter?) Dating and being cheated on while in college is a pretty universal concept and most anyone can relate. I reveled in watching details and characters fit together.

The book was fairly light. When it became serious, I felt the character’s emotions. The romance here was the kind you feel in the pit of your stomach. It felt amazingly, deliciously real. Wow.

There were a couple of unbelievable parts, not too wild just over-the-top. A dress that costs $6000? College students are broke. A $200 dress would be equally out-of-reach. The main character seemed a little self-absorbed and self-centered surrounding the birthday party.

Set on a college campus, this seemed geared for new adults but had a strong young adult feel. A clean, fast read I would recommend for any fan of contemporary romance. The author can write. I would definitely be up for reading more from her!

I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Reagan is a college student who has just had heart heart broken again over spring break. She has a bad track record with boyfriends and after this disastrous break up she is left disappointed and frustrated again. That is when her best friend Petra steps in and the two come up with the idea to make a boyfriend list. the list contains all of the qualities that she looks for in a guy and if he doesn't meet all of the qualities on the list he is out.

That is where Ian comes in. He is Reagan's other best friend and has been crushing on her since they met years ago. Ian is sweet, sexy, and charming. Reagan had quickly put him in the "friend zone" due to his playboy reputation and fear of having her heartbroken again. After Ian discovers the boyfriend list he does everything in his power to make Reagan see that he can be the perfect boyfriend, that his heart is hers.

Overall, this was a light, heart warming story that left me with a smile on my face. I would classify it as more of a YA than NA novel though. I was a bit disappointed in the ending as i felt it was a little rushed and i just wanted a little bit more of Ian and Reagan. All of the characters were well developed and you could easily relate to them. Im looking forward to see what Renee Novelle has in store for us next.

YES, YES, YES, YES, YES!

There is a magical moment when you get a book that is the perfect combinations of drama, comedy, romance, angst, and a perfect ending; The Boyfriend List is JUST that!

I know some would expect a steamy explicit read, but this is not that. What you can expect is a love story and what people go through to find it. The good, the bad and the HILARIOUS moments that our craziness takes us through when trying to find Mr. Right.

Reagan and Petra are quite a pair and those two are as Ying and Yang as you can get. Burgers VS Salads, Salon VS Books, 'Daddy has Money' VS 'Broke College student' and the list could go on. Their banter will have you laughing out loud and shaking your head. I loved how the author brought Reagans inner dialogue out as well. It really made you connect with just how much she was going through and the insecurities one may have day to day.

AND then there is Ian! I was freaking swooning over him while I was reading on my couch and cooking my kids Mac & Cheese, that man is just one son of a charmer *fans self*

There is so much I could say but if you are looking for a cute, funny, and romantic read I HIGHLY suggest this book!

The Boyfriend List is a great book. In the beginning, Reagan's boyfriend cheats on her. To help her find a new boyfriend she decides, with the help of her friend Petra, to come up with a list and check system for the guys on campus. I loved her list. For Reagan the perfect boyfriend has these qualities: "Attractive, athletic, smart, sense of humor, easy going, extrovert, romantic, a good kisser, honest, a good connections, and most important of all-faithful."

I loved the reading how far they would go to find out if a guy fit those qualities. Reagan overhears a conversation Brett is having with his friend and she wants to see if he fits her list. That brings a bout some embarrassing situations for Reagan but they are very funny to read.

She does find someone who fits her perfect boyfriend qualifications ( I won't tell you who). You can't help but route for them to become boyfriend and girlfriend. There is a little situation towards the end of the story that has you second guessing if he is the perfect boyfriend. Reagan admits something to Petra and I wonder if it will come back to haunt her in the second book. I can't wait to read more in the second book The Perfect Boyfriend.

Reagan is jilted and actually taking it sort of okay. Her and her best friend slash roommate Petra have a stroke of genius that is really great for a laugh as far as I'm concerned. The boyfriend list is a story about finding love where you least expect it. It was an overall good read. If you like Contemporary Romance this is a good book for you to check out.

I liked the characters especially Ian... duh. Petra is a great best friend and Justin and Isabelle are good in their roles as well. The concept of Brett was great I just felt like maybe it should have been explored more. I also liked Reagan's sister's character but felt like she was not well explored and established as a character in this story, I would have liked more Brett and more of her as well but that's just me. It's a fairly unique storyline and the plot is good although I felt like I was finished reading it way too soon. I would have liked to see where things went after the last outcome of the book.

The pace is great and I laughed and swooned, always good signs. I rated this book a four because I really liked the characters concept and storyline. It was an overall good read!

The Boyfriend List is the perfect example of a sweet NA romance that doesn't need a bunch of sex scenes just to tell the story. Instead, you'll find an engaging set of characters, clean and well written scenes, and a friends-to-couple story that will have you rooting for Reagan and Ian from the start.

I found Reagan to be a bit timid and reluctant, and kept hoping that some of her friend Petra's personality would rub off on her. But Reagan's personality seemed to be like it was so she could protect her heart, so I can understand why she's like that. Ian on the other hand was outgoing, lovable and so sweet, and I was on his side from the very beginning hoping Reagan would come around to him quickly (if I was her, I sure would have!).

I would have liked to see more of Ian and Reagan together, especially toward the ending. Plus there is the question of Ian's background and how he can afford that apartment on his own and that credit card he pulls out at the boutique...so I'd love to see a follow up story :-)

4 stars from me for The Boyfriend List--and if you'd like to read a delightful, clean NA romance, you should definitely check this one out!

Reagan just had her heart crushed when she found out her boyfriend cheated on her. To get over the break up Reagan and her best friend Petra make a list of all the qualities that would make the perfect boyfriend. The more traits they add to the list the more Reagan begins to wonder if what she wants has been there the entire time in the form of her hot best friend Ian. Is she willing to risk their friendship? Can they make it work?

Ian has been in love with Reagan since he met her and he has seen her heart broken over a ton of different losers. He never expected to have a chance until he found out about her silly list. Now all he has to do is prove that he can be the perfect boyfriend. It is easier said than done when his reputation is the complete opposite of her entire list. Can he get her to believe that his feelings are real?

This was such a cute story. It was fun to read and very realistic. I love Reagan and Ian's relationship as friends and as a couple. They get each other completely, they seem to have a love that will last forever.

This story was fun and sweet and very enjoyable.... I'm crossing my fingers that maybe it will turn into a series. ;)

Reagan and Ian are such a great combo of... friends. But you can tell right from the start of this story that it's pretty obvious that these two care a lot about each other, on any level, be it friendship or more.

After Reagan gets her heart broken by her ex, she's on guard. Thus, "the list". It's a seemingly sure-fire way to be certain that she'll find the perfect guy for her, she feels.

I enjoyed this story so much. I deprived myself of some sleep because I kept wanting to keep reading (so good!). It's fast moving, continually entertaining, and very rewarding to the reader.

These characters (Reagan, Ian, and supporting characters of their friends) are fantastic. Renee wrote them and their quirks to be very relatable (to me anyways). :)

I'm looking forward to reading more of Renee Novelle's work.

Reagan Carter feels all her luck has ran dry. Having the worst week of her life and finding out her boyfriend was cheating on her. Her best friend Petra and her decide to come up with a checklist that a guy would have to meet all the criteria to be considered perfect by Reagan’s standards. She will not be heartbroken again.

Ian, her best guy friend that she has kept in the friend zone for years, and for good reason because she doesn’t want to jeopardize losing him or being hurt by him also helps in finding her the perfect guy. What Reagan doesn’t realize she may have had the perfect guy all along and just couldn’t see it.

I really enjoyed this book, I started and finished in one sitting. It was a fast-paced, clean read. The characters were very likable, except Justin and Isabella and when you read you will find out why. Ian was just great, I fell in love with him quickly. Definitely recommend this sweet, enjoyable read.

I live in a warm environment. I traveled for work to NY, yes ladies I said NY! Needless to say I was freezing!!!! So what did I do? I read a book. This book warmed my heart. It warmed my heart and soul. A beautiful story that is about seeing what is right in front you. Looking for the one that you are meant to be with but take for granted the one you have. Why does that happen?? Well fear plays a big part. Fear of losing what you have already. Losing a comfortable thing... I mean why rock the boat right?!? But Renee shows us that taking a leap of faith. Opening your eyes to see what is right in front of you could be the thing that you have been dreaming of. Ian is not only the perfect friend but the perfect boyfriend worth the wait. Reagan's list... The Boyfriend List by Renee Novelle, I give this book that kept me warm in NY gets 7 stars from me!

A really cute fast paced story that easily swept me away into the life of Reagan and her adventure to find the perfect boyfriend. I repeatedly found myself laughing out loud from all of the happenings. The plot is really cute and honestly kept my attention right from the start.

The characters are easy to get wrapped up in. Reagan to me was adorable even with all her insecurities. She and Petra would be the type of girls that I would have loved to gone to college with. Petra was a hoot. She's the type of character you would want as your best friend. They were fun and there was never a dull moment.

Ian... *sigh* LOVE Ian. That's all I'm going to say.

So if your looking for a quick enjoyable sweet read, this is the book for you. Enjoy! I loved it and I can't wait for their story to continue.

How wonderful to read a new adult fiction book that is actually true to the genre! I am so tired of skipping over all the erotica in so many of the books recently published as new adult.
This book is a fun ride through the twists and turns of finding that first true love. I really enjoy how well the characters are developed and play off of one another with such ease. The author takes you along for this well written journey with such seamless effort that you forget you are reading a story about fictional characters and feel just like you are reading a nice long catch up letter from your best friend you haven't seen in weeks!
If true new adult fiction is your favorite genre, you are really going to love this book. A page turner instead of a page skipper!

It took we a little while to get into the characters and their story. I even thought about putting it down at one stage, but I'm glad that I didn't no.

Turned out to be a really enjoyable read and something a little different in the new adult genre.

The characters are lovable and the story line really flows very nicely. There were some surprises along the way which is always nice. I don't really like it when I can see what's happening from a mile away. No point reading it then.

I was surprised see that there is another book after this one. It could have been left, but secretly glad that I get to spend more time with these characters. Will be back for the second one

This is a really lovely heart warming fun story. I found it a quite refreshing read.
The main character Reagan's boyfriend has cheated on her. She decides along with her friend Petra that the best way to find her ideal man is to list what each should possess.
I really loved reading about Petra. Ian is Reagan's clever hot friend who tries to prove that he should be her choice.

If your looking for a lovely cute story then this is the one!!!

I loved the narrator and the writing style, but there were too many sexual references for my taste.

The Boyfriend List is a cute and lighthearted romance. To me it almost read like a YA or Mature YA instead of a New Adult, but that’s just me being picky and really beside the point. The point is I liked it for the most part and overall it was a pretty decent story. If you are looking for a sweet and easy read this just might be the book for you.

Reagan is sick of choosing all the wrong men; somehow she always gets stuck with the worst possible boyfriends. It’s like they flock to the poor girl. When her latest boyfriend decides to stray and it ends up posted all over face book for everyone to see she decides she has had enough. So with the help of her best friend and roommate Petra they hatch a plan, and The Boyfriend List is born.

"I’m going to make a list of everything I want in a guy. And unless a guy I’m interested in matches every quality, I’m not going to date him"

So Reagan and Petra set out to find the ideal man, the scour their college campus and basically if they see cute guys they sort of just start interviewing them. I can just picture them doing this, I envision them walking around with clipboards and sharpies just checking things off on the list. Cute? Check. Nice smile? Check. Job? No. Ok then lets move on.

Ian lives in the same building as the girls and him and Reagan have been close friends for years. Ian is sweet, charming and sexy. In all the time him and Reagan have
Been friends he has never had a serious relationship and you can tell why as soon as we meet him. He has a thing for Reagan and even though she won’t admit it
She has a thing for him as well. I liked Ian right away, he is definitely my favorite character in this book .He is always there to help Reagan when she needs anything
and he even makes some halfhearted attempts to help Her with the boyfriend list even though he thinks the whole idea is ridiculous. He knows Reagan wants the
Perfect boyfriend someone who fits all the qualities she has on her list but he just wants her to somehow see that it could be him. But Reagan doesn’t think its possible
for Ian to be with just one girl and doesn’t want to risk ruining their friendship if it doesn’t work out.

"You like to hook up with girls, but you don’t actually date them. And I need more then that, Ian. I need something that lasts pretty close to forever because that’s the kind of girl I am. If I cant have that, then friendship is the next best thing"

I did have a really hard time connecting with Reagan’s character, she was just to immature for me at times. They were in college but sometimes some of the things that happened in the book with her seemed like something you would see from someone in high school rather then a twenty year old. And she was so back and forth with her decisions and it was killing me. I wanted to jump into the book and slap some sense into her. I mean really Reagan? The perfect guy is right in front of you. When will you just stop with your silly little list and realize it? I did however really like Petra a lot , she was sarcastically funny and brought a lot to this book. Will Reagan give in and take a chance on Ian or does he just not have all the qualities she wants in her perfect boyfriend?

"And then he was next to her, leaning in casually with that charming smile she’d always thought she’d been immune to alighting his lips, melting her resolve, making her wonder"

I do have to say I really just didn’t like the end of this book at all. It is a standalone so it doesn’t have a cliffhanger but it does kind of just leave you hanging. I was really genuinely surprised that it just ended like that. You know when you get to the last page but don’t know it’s the last page? Because you think there has to be more, that there needs to be more? This was one of those books. I was basically just like huh really that’s it? Yeah so that didn’t work for me at all. But it was a cute book and it did have me laughing out loud several times. So like I said if you want a sweet and easy read this just might be the book for you.

The Boyfriend List is book one in Renee Novelle’s Boyfriend series, written in the third person to me something is taken away from the story. I feel like you can’t make the same emotional connection as you can when a book is written in the first person. The writing is good but with a little editing it could be great. The mistakes were small ones like mixing up ‘where’ and ‘were’
and a couple of sentences repeated themselves, but other than that it was good.
This book takes place in the space of a week and starts with Raegan and Petra meeting up after spring break to catch up on what they got up to over the holiday. Petra tells of her conquests and Raegan then has to tell Petra how her Spring Break took a turn for the worst. Her boyfriend lied to her about what he was doing then got caught because a picture of him and the girl he cheated on Reagan with was put on a social media site. Of course Reagan broke up with him but then her insecurities come out and she’s convinced she’ll never find the ‘perfect’ man.
Petra has this idea of making a list of qualities the perfect man for Reagan should have so starts the crazy ‘boyfriend list’.
Reagan’s best friend Ian comes back at what could be considered the best or worst possible time depending from which point of view its looked at. Petra immediately has the idea that infact the perfect man has been in front of Reagan all along she’s just been blind to it. But that's it once Petra has planted that seed it had Reagan all kinds of confused not know who or what she want’s anymore. Things between Ian and Reagan change that night, the lines blur but who knows how far. It has Reagan questioning if they were ever just friends or if there was always an undertone of something more. Ian was always known as the player, he didn’t date the same girl for more than a few weeks so in Reagan’s mind not boyfriend material. However that blurred line just keeps getting blurrier.
I felt like there wasn’t really enough character interaction built up to fully feel the emotion of Reagan and Ian’s relationship, to me it felt a little anti-climactic when they finally admit there could be something.
I liked this book but I didn’t love it, its definitely YA/NA genre and I usually love the sweet, cutsie books but there’s just something about this one that didn't grab me the way others do.

It is always a nice to encounter a New Adult read that is not angsty or packed full of sex. Yeah, I enjoy those (A LOT!) but sometimes one needs a change of pace. The Boyfriend series did that for me.

I admit, Reagan took some getting used to. Her train of thought was hard to follow at times since the had a tendency to ramble. However, I soon found that it was her way of working through her problems. She analyzed, questioned and pondered her way through the story. She made a list of the traits a perfect boyfriend should have--need I say more?

In The Boyfriend List we get to learn about Reagan's past relationships and how affected she is by her recent experience--the one that led her to come up with 'the list'. I enjoyed seeing Reagan as she compiled her list and confirmed facts to check-off the items of the list.

I also enjoyed meeting Petra and Ian, her best friends. Petra was a force to be reckoned with. She helped to lead Reagan in the right direction in regards to what she truly wanted. She kept the story entertaining with her attitude and remarks.

Ian. Oh, Ian was a dream man. Sexy, smart, understanding and completely adorable. I want one of him! He was perfect for Reagan--as a friend and a boyfriend. His story was touching, especially his struggle with containing his emotions towards Reagan during their platonic friendship. I easily understood why Reagan was so enchanted by him. It couldn't have been easy to resist his charms and humor. *sigh*

It shouldn't come as a surprise to learn that Ian made Reagan's list. But it's what happens in between that kept me reading the book in one sitting. The author did a wonderful job in bringing humor and emotions into Reagan's journey in finding that 'perfect boyfriend'. And when she finally found the one, the author went all out in bringing in the romance.

ll in all, a fabulous friends to lovers story with a bit of emotions, some humor and romance abound.

THE BOYFRIEND LIST by Renee Novelle was a fun friends to lovers story to read. I love when a book has sassy characters and witty dialogue that really does make me laugh out loud. I enjoy a book so much more when the writing is so good I have a true sense of the scenes being set up, the environment and the emotional state of the characters. Ms. Novelle has done all of this with style and charm.

Reagan and Ian have been the best of friends since they started college, both have feelings beyond friendship but have not wanted to rock the boat and risk losing a great friend. Both have been dating others and it's worked for them, but Reagan's latest breakup has her really questioning the way she has been choosing her men. She and her other best friend, Petra, cook up this list of what Reagan really wants in a boyfriend and begin to interview the young men on campus. Checking off the attributes and eliminating possible candidates. So funny! But this puts Ian in a bit of a huff out of fear he may miss his chance with the woman he's been in love with forever. Reagan however is still not getting it. Talk about a more literal slant on love being blind. But amid all the college age emotion, laughter, and flirting is a sweet love story I really enjoyed reading. The Boyfriend List is a quick read that will put a smile on your face. 4 stars.
