This book has some really great practical nuts and bolts to planning and implementing a successful PBL project. I had to stop several times because it gave me so many ideas, I needed to jot them down before I moved on. I recommend this as a practical guide to help a teacher beginner in PBL

It was probably a mistake to simultaneously begin reading this book AND start planning my first true-blue PBL unit...with two other teachers too! Too many layers of complexity, so if I could do it again, I would do the rational thing and read the book first, then plan a simple, one teacher only unit.

That said, I am glad that I read the book--it is laid out simply and provides you with plenty of helpful planners and rubrics--and started this Writing-Tech-Art unit with two great friends and teachers: John and Licia. It has been so much work, but fulfilling and exciting too.

I can see how Project/Problem Based Learning will play an important role in the way I teach going forward, as I feel like it provides students with more independence and gets me off the stage and lets me work with students one on one more often. This book has helped me down that road.
