What Is It About:
After her first shift, Rue found out that she's an albino panther. Her entire family turned on her, pinned her down and branded her before banishing her from their clan. She spent years running and had her son even though they forbid her to have children. After hearing that her family is gathering for a bonding ceremony, her son convinces her to have a peak at the ceremony before they move to Canada and leave their past behind them. What she didn't expect was to get caught. John and James stumble upon a woman hiding in the trees and immediately know that she's their mate. But her family also discovers her in the woods and they aren't going to let it go.
What I Liked and Didn't:
I was quite impressed with Rue. The amount of shit that she'd gone through- being beaten and banished by her family, her "baby daddy" beating her after discovering the banishment, being a single mother and running for years with her son. That's pretty admirable. I don't think that it's too surprising that she didn't immediately trust John and James, it probably would have been weird if she'd trusted them from the start. I do have a bit of an issue with John and James and it's the same issue that I've had with a lot of the other men in the previous- I can't differentiate between the two of the. They don't have their own individual personalities, which makes it seem a bit redundant that there's two of them. Plot-wise, it's pretty interesting. I wouldn't mind more information on the ways that panthers live because their laws and mystic-ness is just interesting. But the resolution came too quickly. They found the clearing too easily, the fight was over too quickly and the panther clan's problems were fixed the instant a new person was in power? Really? I wasn't too impressed with that. Another thing that I wish had been explained a bit more is Dom and Henry's relationship. I understand that in future books they'll probably be the pair of guys that share a woman but their connection was so deep and mystical that I would have preferred more information to it rather than "We're brothers now.".
Final Thoughts:
I don't know if it's an american thing but what kind of name is Veruka? The only other person I know with the name is Verruca Salt and her name's meant to represent her character so it just doesn't make sense to me. Fate and Wyked's names are explained but people just go about like Veruka's a normal name?
Would I recommend it? It's very far down on the list of shifter romances that I'd recommend.
Will I be carrying on the series? I'm starting to lose a bit of interest in the series but I'll give the series one more go.
