Rate this book
Now available in a single volume with a WORKING TABLE OF CONTENTS, this collection contains books one, two, and three, BLIND MALICE, BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY PLUNGE, and CHRISTMAS TREE WARS from Annis Ward Jackson’s Rachel Myers Murder Mystery series. This series is set in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, near where Ms. Jackson was born and reared, and where she and her husband now live after many years in other places.

About the character:

Gardener, horsewoman, retirement village administrator and amateur sleuth (although she does not like the word), Rachel Myers never seeks to involve herself in mysteries or murders but somehow they seem to fall right into her path. And she finds them difficult to resist, especially if they concern family, friends or even acquaintances. Myers is not a professional detective but she has a natural ability for solving intricate puzzles, she is tenacious, and has complete faith in that little spark that says she's on the right track. And she pays close attention to minor details that are often overlooked by the police.

Myers has been described by reader/reviewers as “someone I could easily be friends with,” and “If I had a mystery, I would want her on the case,” and “a real person who’s not afraid to get her hands dirty.”

Book 1 BLIND MALICE

Rachel Myers, a native of the Appalachian Mountains, has come home from Arizona for her father's funeral. The service is barely over when questions surrounding her father's death and his financial affairs begin to pile up. She uncovers shocking secrets from her father's past and comes face to face with the menace that led to his death.

Book 2 BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY PLUNGE

Finding that she cannot go through with her planned-down-to-the-last-detail marriage to longtime lover David in Flagstaff, Arizona, Myers is enjoying settling into her childhood home, and having plenty of space to indulge her passion for gardening, while waiting for her new job as administrator of an exclusive retirement center/nursing facility to begin.
Then, an old family friend, Isaac Starling, begs Rachel to look into the suspicious death of his seventy-three year old lifetime friend who has been found dead at the bottom of a sheer two hundred foot cliff along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The coroner has ruled accident or suicide, but Myers finds a murderous trail that began fifty years before in 1958 and has wound a deadly path all the way to the present.

Book 3 CHRISTMAS TREE WARS

The reader finds Rachel Myers finally and completely settled in the small Appalachian Mountain community of Laurel Hill, North Carolina. The new retirement center where she is administrator is up and running and so is her relationship with Detective Robert Barnett.
Danny DeBord, friend and garden designer, has gone missing. The police have zero clues. As usual, Rachel observes from afar with no intention of becoming involved in the investigation until she is approached by a local woman whose son disappeared four years earlier in suspiciously similar circumstances.
The cold case is all the impetus needed for Myers to delve into the search for Danny DeBord, and in the process, embroil herself to her most dangerous predicament to date.
