Kate Walker has had her fill of men. Her ex only used her to get to her best friend, and now her new boss seems to go out of his way to tick her off. It doesn’t help that he’s drop-dead gorgeous and built like a god. She just can’t deal with his hot and cold attitude.

As the leader of the genetically engineered hybrids of Luna Lodge, Titus knows getting too close to mouthy Kate isn’t really a good idea. Too bad he can’t seem to get away from her or get her out of his head. Everything about her keeps drawing them together, and his ability to resist her is weakening daily.

Their shared attraction is put to the test when the dangerous Horatius Group makes its latest move against their former property, Titus and his fellow hybrids. When Kate is caught in the struggle, Titus will have to face a living nightmare or risk losing her forever.

Madison currently lives with her husband and two children in the Valley of the Sun. Phoenix, Arizona. After leaving the frozen tundra of the north, Madison was more surprised than anyone with how much she has enjoyed living in the desert. Seeing as she had stated on more than one occasion how much she hated the heat, it was an odd move. But it seemed her hatred for sub-zero temps and ice, or really the things that ice could do, won out in the end.
When she’s not writing, she’s enjoying time with her family. Madison and her family frequent festivals in the area, as well as local cultural events, and spend time with family in the area. In the summer she is most likely to be found in the pool with the family and in the winter by the fireplace. Since both her children are autistic, days can be a little chaotic but with her husband beside her, there’s nothing she can’t handle. Luckily he is also an author and able to share in all the activities (and chores) special needs kids require.

Titus vs. Romulus!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 🩵🖤❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: ☹️😮☺️😍

The heroine: Kate - she is a public relations specialist and recently broke up with her boyfriend Mark after they attended a party at Luna Lodge and a bomb went off and started the place on fire. Kate was trapped and Mark just left her there to die, though she did eventually make it out alive. Then after breaking it off with Mark, she finds out that he was only dating her to get close to her best friend Erica. Suffice it to say she is a bit gun-shy about getting involved again.

The Hero: Titus - he is the leader of the hybrids at Luna Lodge. The hybrids are a product of genetic engineering by a corrupt corporation called the Horatius Group. The group is still trying to get them back since the military freed them. A former scientist whom they call “the pale one” is now a hybrid as well from injecting himself with his gene altering serum. He is even stronger and faster than Titus and the rest of the hybrids and he plans to take them down and is working with other groups that think the hybrids are an abomination and shouldn’t be given any land or rights.

The Story: Kate was fascinated by Titus before the night of the fire, but after he saved her from the fire their personalities clashed. They were obviously attracted to each other, but Titus is used to being the boss and Kate wasn’t down with being ordered around. However, when things started to get dicey on the compound with protesters at the gate, the hybrids needed to hire some PR and Kate was the best so now she works for them.

Like the first book the story in this one was pretty good. I liked the contentious relationship between Titus and Kate. They were a good match for each other. There were some pretty steamy scenes as well. The Pale One (a.k.a. Romulus) was the main villain and though they went up against him a few times in this book, they didn’t really defeat him, so he will definitely be back. He not only has powers that Titus and his hybrids don’t have, but he has all the newer hybrids backing him up as well. He seems to be either in charge of the Horatius group or at least pretty high up in the organization, though he is certainly crazy.

Titus, 2nd book in Luna Lodge series by Madison Stevens almost did it for me. Almost.

Titus and Kate's attraction/ story started in the first book and obviously continued.
So Titus is the alpha of all alphas in his Tribe and he is attracted to Kate. Better said his body is shooting out some pheromones and the only one responding is Kate.
They dance around each other for a while. Titus is not willing to bring Kate to his world and automatically in danger. he realizes later that she was in danger just by working for him.
Kate is attracted to Titus but his hot cold attitude has her puzzled.
Eventually they give in to their attraction.

Around this point the story was a 4 star story for me. The minor issues that I had with the plot were not enough to put me off. BUT in the end Madison Stevens did it again: a weak plot who doesn't make sense.
Things were getting better between Kate and Titus, sort of, when Kate's parents gave a live interview on TV. After not seeing them for "X" years Kate puts them in their place.
However she decides to go and meet her mother because her mother was worried for her. At this point I told myself "not again!" and my rating dropped to 2.5.
They haven't talked or seen each other in years and she wants to calm her mother? The same mother who is working with a certain senator? The same senator that is working with the Horatius group?
I mean...Really?
Even the Pale Man could have kidnaped her to make for a more interesting story and plot.

I this point I lost all interest in the book and couldn't get it back. Kate was held by the strongest hybrid but conveniently she is saved during the day....

It is frustrating to me to see a fairly good story getting lost because on a lack of depth and/ or lack of a good storyline.
It was terrible and combined with the editing errors it went bad.

There are important details missing from the plot that could make this story good:
-some background info on the Horatius group or the Pale Man. Anything would have worked to understand a bit the story, the plot and the world that Madison Stevens is building.
- now all these terms thrown in the story are not explained. I am happy I learned some latin in school. Bona Dea - latin for Good Goddess - or Vestal - latin for Virgin - do not make sense to me in the context and they seem to be put there because they sound good. They do but where is that coming from and why? A virgin goddess for the hybrids?

All these things are taking away the enjoyment, plus the bad editing and there you have it: a story that can be good but it's not.
I have stopped comparing Luna Lodge with the New Species because New Species have depth and a sound plot (till a certain point in the series). Titus has nothing on Furry. BUt there is potential.

I hope the stories get better and there are explanations behind names and terms. I will read the rest of the books because I am very curious where this is going. I just wish the author would detach herself from the New Species and find her voice.

Do I recommend it? If you are not bothered by editing errors and want to relieve the new Species magic but on a smaller level, go for it.

I was looking forward to this book for months and it was pretty entertaining. I'll continue reading the series, but I hope as the series continues, the story line gets expanded and clarified more.

What I liked:
-The relationship between Titus and Kate was pretty hot, and so that made the overall read pretty good.

-There are repeating characters which we can assume will eventually get their own (i.e. Lucius is next, probably Apollo and Marius as well). Each have clearly unique personalities and background so there's that to look forward to.

Other points:

-There were a fair number of errors in throughout the book. Not necessarily the minor 'their' 'your/you're' but missed words, double usage (her her), and wrong pronoun (her when it was supposed to be he).
It wasn't extremely terrible but it did make me pause a few times to figure out what was supposed to be the real point.

-If you didn't read Sol (Book #1) you'd be a bit lost on some of the 'evil group's' background info. I think it would have been nice to include a short tidbit, maybe make it such that Titus is explaining to Kate what the Horatius Group is all about. I say this because they just started talking about Bona Dea and being a Vedal (or something) without preamble. Those terms make no sense without background, right? You can sort of figure out by context what they may mean, but still, I think it wouldn't hurt to slip in a refresher in the next book.

Another good book in this series

Even though this is very similar to Laurann Dohner's New Species series it is still a very good series in itself. I really enjoyed this 2nd book in this series and have already purchased the next book. Madison Steven may have started this off as a copy cat book, but she is slowly making it her own.

4 stars. Actually enjoyed this better than the first one of the series. I really loved the strong characters--I could actually see Titus and Kate together. Instant attraction, but not instant romance since Titus seems to fight the relationship from the start. Kate is smart, and beautiful, and knows how to go after what she wants, or make what she wants go after her. Again, nice suspense aspect. I am really enjoying this series.

Loved it! Couldn't wait to read this book after the sarcastic banter between Kate and Titus was introduced in the last one. Was definitely engaging and a winner. Could not put it down. Loved how Kate is so outspoken and loves to push Titus' buttons. Titus is such an alpha male but when dealing with Kate you also could see a gentler side. Loved their interaction and chemistry. Would recommend. Can't wait for more in this series.

The only one for him

This author just keeps knocking out these must read books. Titus is the alpha of the hybrids and he needs that strong woman to be his mate. Our author did not disappoint when she gave him Kate. These two go through so much when they are on the path to their HEA. You are going to love this book and the ending that you never saw coming. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

This is the second in a series similar to the Species series by Laurann Dohner. It's engaging with characters you love and enemies you love to hate. She continues the previous characters from the first book in the background so you are not left wondering how they are doing as things move on. I look forward to reading the next one.

I like this series. It is in the same vein as the species of Laurann Dohner and the breeds of Lora Leigh.

I will be reading the rest of the series. These books can be read as stand alone, but there is an interesting storyline that I would love to know the outcome of

Uping the ante

As we go deeper into this new world with its new species, certain setups are put in play, and the name of the villain is revealed. He's just before the good side of cheesy right now, with his serious demeanor and prideful monologues.

Titus: #2

I'm ready for Kate and Titus to have their happily ever after without Woods and the pale man hanging over their heads. Titus was right when he guessed the pale man wanted Kate.

"She was trying to create an image for the hybrids," ...

Kate has first hand experience with the hybrids of Luna Lodge from book one, which just might make her the perfect PR person to help them control their image in the media as the world comes to terms with the fact hybrids exist.

Titus is the leader of the hybrids, he's not accustomed to being challenged or having some demand things of him, but Kate isn't going to back down just because he growls.

One of the things I particularly enjoyed in this story was the way Kate formed relationships with so many different members of the Luna Lodge community, showing just one of the many ways in which she's a good match for Titus.

Still too reminiscent of better series out there. With more world building and better descriptive content this could be a good series.
I hate when a smart sensible and independent woman behaves in a TSTL way.
This really seems even worse as it seemed to be completely out of character for Kate.
Still not sure I even know Titus any better than before I started.
There was also just such a quick change of mind within a few paragraphs, that it was annoying. Going from all the reasons they cannot be together to I love you and cannot be without you.
As another review has stated, the time frame is just feeling wrong to me. Too long between stories/matings.

Sexy and stubborn man!

Titus is one beck of a sexy stubborn man and feisty Kate was just what he needed. This story has lots of heat and sexy scenes that steamed up my kindle and so much action to keep me flipping for what came next! Off to read the next book!

Better than the first, but it’s still missing emotion and still full of petty stuff. There’s been some dark stuff going on but it’s kinda just glossed over quickly and then forgotten about.
