I attended an event where this Author Deborah Malone was guest speaker. I was very impressed with her as an author. I read her ebook Death In Dahlonega last year and found it to be intriguing. I enjoy true crime and mystery therefore it was a perfect read for me. I bought the paperback version of her book at the event and look forward to the many photos and reading it again. I also look forward to reading other books by this author in the future.

Can I just say that other than being embroiled in a murder investigation, I loved the life of Trixie Montgomery and her friend Dee Dee? Who wouldn't be delighted to travel a bit for their career?

Trixie takes her pal Dee Dee along with her on a work assignment for "Georgia On The Way" magazine where they are to catch the buzz of Gold Rush Days in the quaint mountain town Dahlonega. Other than the town's hotels being quite booked up because of the heavily attended event, the assignment truly seems to be fairly mundane and Trixie is looking for an angle for a more compelling story in order to wow her boss. Trixie gets more than she asks for when her dear friend is found holding the murder weapon over a very lifeless townie. What ensues are Trixie and Dee Dee's attempts to get to the bottom of who could have offed John Tatum. The list grows because John is a prominent yet not terribly liked citizen.

"Death In Dahlonega" is a quick read with great characters. The town descriptions were so well written that I truly could picture it all in my mind. The townspeople were pretty much what you would expect in a Cozy mystery, some were a little on the quirky side while others were straight-faced serious. It was enjoyable reading about the ladies' interactions with them as well as the various eateries in town. I would say that they were certainly true to life in the best way. The murderer wasn't a complete surprise, but still it had me guessing. I enjoyed the brief mind-vacation I had through Deborah Moore's book, and I do hope that more will follow.

I won this book from a blog.

Great First Book for Deborah Malone!

"Dahlonega" sounds like "bologna" should sound like, but this book is no baloney! The story has all the elements readers like me look for in a cozy mystery - good characters, interesting setting and tight plot. Trixie, Dee Dee and Nana were fun characters to watch as the story unfolded from Trixie's beginning a simple job assignment as a reporter, to her battling for Dee Dee's life as an accused murderer.

I loved this book. It is set in Dahlonega, Georgia, close to where I live. It was great reading a book set so close to home. The characters were real, funny and I know Deborah has more planned for Trixie. Can't wait to read what she has in store.

I love reading books set in places I know and have been to. I attended classes at North Georgia College for a period of time and made many trips to Dahlonega. A beautiful town, very similar to my own surrounding towns. Loved this book!

This is book 1 in the Trixie Montgomery series. We are introduced to Trixie, a divorced woman returning to the workforce after years at home. She is on probation at a magazine that covers the happenings in Georgia, hoping to turn this into a full-time job. Her assignment is to cover the Gold Rush Days being held in Dahlonega. Trixie decides to have her friend Dee Dee accompany her on this adventure. Things change from fun to serious when Dee Dee is found holding a bloody pick axe and the town's most prominent citizen is lying on the floor dead. Trixie has no doubt her friend is innocent but will she be able to convince the local authorities of Dee Dee's innocence in the crime?

Deborah Malone has written an entertaining, quick-moving story about murder, friendship, and conviction. The characters of Trixie, Dee Dee, and Nana are people that you want to hang out with. They are funny, like to eat, and are protective of each other at all times. This cozy Christian mystery is fun to read and it is obvious that the author loves Georgia and all things Southern.

The novella length cozy mystery, Death in Dahlonega, is full of hometown charm that captures the essence of the quaint north Georgia mountain town of Dahlonega. Newly divorced Trixie Montgomery is looking to make her position with a regional magazine permanent as she plans a weekend getaway with good friend Dee Dee to cover the town’s Gold Rush Days. But they are soon right in the middle of a murder investigation with Dee Dee a person of interest. The book follows Trixie’s efforts to assist the local sheriff find out just whodunit. The book is filled with quirky characters who all seem to have a motive for murder. The book is pure cozy with its setting and humor. It is the first in the Trixie Montgomery Cozy Mystery series, and I am going to tag along with her again as she explores Georgia towns and investigates crime.

A good choice for those who like cozies with real settings.

Death in Dahlonega by Deborah Malone is a Christian Cozy that is I really feel comfortable with. I like Christian Fiction, especially Amish Fiction but I tend to shy away from Christian cozies. When I read a cozy I like to relax and not ponder deep religious questions. Deborah Malone’s writing is clever, witty and a joy to read.

Trixie Montgomery and her friend Dee Dee were all set to have a short vacation in Dahlonega, Georgia. Trixie, a historical writer got the assignment to write about The Gold Rush Day in the town. She invited her best friend Dee Dee along to enjoy the food, fun and do some sightseeing.

When they arrived at the hotel, John Tatum, pushed his way pass them, knocking them down. He didn’t even stop to say he was sorry! Everyone in the town knew him. Later in the day, Dee Dee was late for meeting Trixie. Dee Dee had taken one of her innumerable bathroom breaks. She was taking a long time, then there was a loud scream and Trixie hurried to find Dee Dee. But Dee Dee was standing over a body holding a bloody pickaxe!

Poor Dee Dee was considered a suspect. So Trixie and Dee Dee set out to come up with the true murderer. Along the search that finds out many suspects, they all seemed to have a connection to John Tatum.

I thoroughly enjoyed this little cozy. Deborah Mahone makes you aware of the smells, tastes and sounds in the story making it come alive.

I highly recommend this cozy and would love to read the next one in the Trixie Montgomery Cozy Mystery Series.

You never know what adventure might ensue when you’re a writer. But budding journalist Trixie Montgomery never envisioned a simple magazine assignment to a small town festival to lead to a murder—and her best friend Dee Dee is now the prime suspect.
Trixie, a forty-something divorcee still hurting from her ex-husband’s betrayal, is trying to start over in life. Her widowed best friend has agreed to come along on this trip to Dahlonega in the mountains of Georgia.
The friends are complete opposites in personality but their friendship was strengthened when both women found themselves alone; they have become each other’s lifeline to recovery from grief and loneliness.
Now that Dee Dee is in serious danger of ending up in jail, Trixie is determined to find out who the real perpetrator is. Her unofficial investigation leads her to a bevy of interesting characters who are possible suspects. Some of them are downright dangerous.
Death In Dahlonega is a cozy mystery that concentrates on personalities and crime-solving rather than blood and gore—a relief for this reader who shies away from anything graphic.
Author Deborah Malone has a lovely style of writing that helps you capture settings and envision the characters with ease. The book length is only 129 pages—a quick and entertaining read.
Death in Dahlonega was a fun mystery that was like visiting an adult Nancy Drew and her girlfriend, George. Always have fond memories of those gals!

An easy read of 129 pgs this evening! discussion questions also included if you're looking for a short book club read.

I completed Deborah Malone's cozy mystery with a cozy comforter of my own along with a warm cuppa!
the story was short , keeping a steady pace of action, ad libs and deduction led by our protagonist , Trixie, who is sent to Dahlonega on a writing assignment for her 'Georgia By The Way' editor.

Taking advantage of the Gold Rush Days weekend celebration in combo with her assignment, Trixie brings longtime friend DeeDee along... though it turns out to be anything but the anticipated weekend of antiquing and shopping they'd planned!

DeeDee is discovered holding a bloodied pickaxe over the dead body of a prominent citizen of Dahlonega in the town's Gold Museum, kicking their weekend off in the wrong direction. Trixie forges ahead in her own direction intending to vindicate her friend, unintentionally adding to their escapades...

Trixie Montgomery and her good friend Dee Dee, adventure off to the north Georgia Mountains, to write a historical article for the magazine Trixie works for. It doesn't take long for trouble to start brewing. Dee Dee is caught red-handed holding a bloody pickax over John Tatum. Trixie is bound and determined not to let her good friend take the rap for a murder she is sure Dee Dee didn't do. Trixie will stop at nothing until justice is served.

I'm not a cozy mystery reader. I don't like slapstick comedy. I just can't get into the funny side of something otherwise serious.

Yet ....

DEATH IN DAHLONEGA by DEBORAH MALONE is a terrific read. It's very well written with many comical moments, as well as unique lines. MS. MALONE will have you turning the pages with a mystery that will keep you guessing. If I were a cozy mystery reader, I'd purchase each of MS. MALONE'S novels.

What a delightful novella. A cozy mystery with all the essentials and more. It had several protagonist, some surprising antagonists, a couple of murders, history, fantastic scenery, humor, a touch of romance and lots of faith and friendship, all bundled into a small, well written, package.

I won this mystery through the Goodreads giveaways. I certainly hope that there are more Trixie Montgomery cozy mysteries in the future. Well worth reading.
