Black & white photos and very simple text tell the story of a single baby goose hatching from an egg. I liked the rather hypnotic last line that says “this story never ends…it happens over and over again” along with a picture of adult geese tending their nest.

This resource can be used in replacing school hatching projects at the early childhood level.

What's Inside? is a really great little vintage book. Each page briefly describes the picture and then asks the reader some questions to try to lead them to guess what the egg is hatching. It's great fun the first time around but is perhaps a little boring for kids who already know the answer. It'll be great for the classroom though!

(My used copy has written in it: Morna.)
