Eredar: The Hunter's Ascent

Rate this book
Centuries ago, our species split into two factions. Those who were able to wield magic and control the supernatural abandoned humanity to create a new society. Usually, the two worlds remain separate and distinct, but when Cale is asked to kill his younger brother, he and his siblings flee to our world. There they must hide or risk capture and execution.

For his brother and sister, our world is easy. Bridget and Nolan use their abilities to navigate their new surroundings and deal with the people in it.

But it’s not so simple for Cale. Among his people, he served an important purpose. He hunted creatures known as shades. Born of broken souls, these beings are attracted to any form of life. They exist to feed on the warmth and pleasure of any they encounter. Born a warlock, Cale trained to fight these creatures. Fight them and feed on their energy to sustain his strength.

While he hides from his own kind with his brother and sister, Cale must ignore that predatory part of himself. As he tries to adapt to high school, he forces himself to concentrate on rallies and homework, all while he longs for combat. Nothing can satisfy a warlock’s thirst for battle. Nothing until he meets a girl, Liah.

With each heartbeat, he must resist the pull of combat. Bloodlust runs through his veins. More than anything, he wants to destroy those creatures. But he can’t do it. To track, he must teleport. The more he jumps across the distances of our world, the more easily he could be tracked. As the warring impulses threaten to tear him apart, there is only one person who might be able to heal his wounds.
