Crime boss Cain Casey's new associate Remington Jatibon is a lot like Cain used to be - a playgirl with a passion for bedding beautiful women and expanding her father's empire, on both sides of the law. When Remi meets budding actress Dallas Montgomery, she finds that there's more to Dallas than meets the eye.
Ali Vali is the author of the long-running Cain Casey "Devil" series and the Genesis Clan "Forces" series, as well as numerous standalone romances including two Lambda Literary Award finalists, Calling the Dead and Love Match, and her 2017 release, Beauty and the Boss. Ali also has a novella in the collection Girls with Guns. Originally from Cuba, Ali has retained much of her family's traditions and language and uses them frequently in her stories. Having her father read her stories and poetry before bed every night as a child infused her with a love of reading, which she carries till today. Ali currently lives outside New Orleans, Louisiana, and she has discovered that living in Louisiana provides plenty of material to draw from in creating her novels and short stories.
This series has a way of pulling you in and making you forget about everything else. Cain Casey is a mastermind with a heart of gold. Cain and Emma’s relationship is absolutely beautiful. When you add Remi and Dallas to the mix my heart explodes with wonderful feelings. My heart hurts for Dallas. Remi is just what her heart was looking for and she is just the knight she needs to get ride of the asshole taking advantage of her. I love the friendship between Cain and Remi that starts to take form in this book. They are both brilliant woman with a deep love of family. In this book, we also see more of the renewed alliance between the Jatibon and Casey family solidify with new business ventures. I’m very glad that Ross, Emma’s father, decides to joins the family in New Orleans. New enemies are introduced in this book. I got very choked up when Juan and Anthony took Emma. I was terrified of what might happen and heartbroken when Merrick is shot. I absolutely shed a few tears when Emma is safe again and Cain goes to visit Merrick and Katlin.

Although Cain's immediate family got smaller, I love that the family she's choosing is getting bigger with the Jatibon's coming into the picture. The introduction to Dallas and getting to know Remi more was a treat. The action and the satisfying revenge from Cain and Co made this one exciting.
No usage of the word 'sweetling' in this gem. It's as if the author received 000s of complaints from endearment snobs around the world following book 1 and 2. (There is justice after all)
Hayden is still creepy and Cain is becoming the most sappiest mush-lord of the underworld. Just your regular infallible, too smart for the FBI – lesbian mobster kingpin. It seems all butch mobsters are tall and dark, and their femme soulmates are tiny and fair haired. What are the odds? Notwithstanding all of the above, the interwoven plotlines and thrilling end has me seeking book 4.
This series just gets better and better. The more you read the more you want. I'm hooked and I hope the series never ends. In this book you're introduced to more characters both exciting and slimy. Let's put it this way some characters you're fall in love with and some characters you'd like to see fall from a great height. Ali Vali is defiantly giving lesbian fiction there very own Martina Cole. Gave it five stars but it deserves a lot more. Can't wait for number four. Enjoy!! I bet you won't put it down.
Emma is continuing to get closer to how she was in the prologue book and her wishy washiness and character inconsistencies are slowly getting better. I still like Cain as a character, but I really prefer the side characters storylines. Their relationships and stories are really well written and interesting. The audiobooks are back to the narrator I prefer in this one and it made it easier to focus on the story.
These books are amazing. I wish there was a Cain Casey in My life or a Merrick. I think they are silly, but they make me happy to be a lesbian. It makes me feel like this could actually happen. I loved these books. It was good to read something where the lesbians didn't go back to a man, and also where all the lesbians died. It was a great to read a book where women were so empowered and in charge.
This book was intense from the start till the end! The cast of characters get better with every book. One of the rare times you get to root for the mobsters!
This series is a page turner if you like honorable "bad guys", questionable "good guys", intense and passionate love scenes, devoted protectors and a main character that you love to cheer for. At the beginning, I did not think this was the type of story I would enjoy but go figure, I am hooked.
Like the new dynamic with Cain and Remi. Think the two will make a good partnership. Business partnership ! Cain and Emma are a good fit and have a strong bond. Wonder where we will go next in this adventure.
I enjoyed this book just as much as the ones before it. I admire how Cain is a woman of her word. She has morals and sticks to them no matter how much money might be made if she ignored those morals. (Selling booze as opposed to drugs, for example). She is an anti-hero that I could get behind. No random killing for her or her family. If someone is in their sights, they KNOW they're guilty. Her darkness is balanced by her wonderful romantic and deep love for Emma. Thank goodness they got a second chance! (I chuckle every time Emma calls Cain 'mobster') With this book comes the development of another relationship and the growth of another. It isn't just Cain and Emma who get to explore their love. I think that's so important. Especially in this day and age. There is darkness here, but light also. Love, light, death, new life, new beginnings and justice of the most brutal kind. But there is loyalty, confusion, settings that make you sweat and settings that make you want to order a beer. I am so glad there are seven books in this series, because I want to consume them all!
I thought the Sept books were pretty good. The Casey series is phenomenal!
I waited to read this book for about six months and it did not disappoint one bit that for sure. I love, love Ali Vali's books especially the Cain Casey series. She has become one of my most favorite authors. This is the third one in the series and just WOW.!! It was amazingly written the way it starts where it left off. This series has a way of pulling me in and letting me see the story unfold in my head, feel what each and every character is feeling. We get to see how Cain and Emma's love has transformed after being separated for four years but we get to see were Remi's and Dallas relationship takes us. The way these women will fight and do whatever they can not only to keep their family's strong and together but keep their lovers whole. Even if it means getting rid of a pesky men trying to get between them for some before they even started and for others just being a bother. Dallas learns from Emma that to love these women, Cain and Remi, they have to learn to love them even with there dark sides that come with being the head of there family's. This book tells the way Dallas and Remi's love blossoms into the relationship both women need. And i cant help but get exited of the way Remi will get rid of the pesky past that haunts Dallas. But also what Cain has to do to keep the FBI away from her and her family but also the man that cant take no for an answer, Juan. I cant wait to read the forth on its litearlly right next to me so lets get on with the story.!! But this one was and is amazing!!!
Hot, dangerous, exhilarating! Took me a while to get myself reacquainted with this series and I am glad. Love the whole storyline more despite my having to sometimes reflect on certain history from predecessors. This is a series i am happy thus far to continue.
There still aren't enough words to describe how much I love this series. There's not a single character in there that I do not absolutely love. I've grown to love Remi/Dallas and Merrick/Katlin as much as I've always loved Cain and Emma. Seeing Cain with Hannah still melts my heart every single time and I can't wait to see Cain with a baby because... MY HEART. I hate to see Muriel.. unhappy in a way. She deserves better than this and I'm almost certain she'll have everything she deserves in the future. I just want them all happy and safe. Every book added to this series adds another layer of depth to the characters, the story, the entire world of this series. It's amazing and never boring. I can't wait to pick up the next book to see where this one will lead me. I'm in love with them all. Oops.

In this third book in the series, we get to know Remi Jatibon, the lesbian daughter of an ally of the Casey family, and the heir apparent to her father's business. Remi's romance is with Dallas Montgomery, an up and coming actress who has a secretive past and a manager who keeps her on a short leash with threats. Meanwhile Cain and Remi face a number of enemies, including the family who owns a casino and a Mexican family involved in the drug trade. In the midst of this, Emma and Cain are looking to enlarge their family with child #3.
There's a lot going on in this book, some of it hard to follow at times, but always engrossing and action-packed. I'm going with a 5 since I couldn't stop reading and it was well plotted and more than kept my attention.
“Salvation sometimes had nothing to do with churches and religious faith, but rather someone willing to find what was left in you worth saving.”
“If I am truly free, then nothing’s stopping me from loving you. Nothing’s stopping me from wanting to be the last woman in your life.” + • + • + • +
I swear, this series gets better with every book I read!! Its a thrilling, intriguing & captivating storyline, filled with action, drama, suspense & twists that makes this series so entertaining & captivating. This was another enjoyable book with nice flow & effortless progression that fuels its engaging narrative & easily relatable & likeable characters that keeps you enthralled.
This was a pretty fast paced read, full of action and excitement. I could feel the cigar clippers chomping down on fingers. It is also a world where those who don't play by the rules live by their own special form of honour and the way it is portrayed, makes you agree with it. It did lag in a few places for me, but overall the plot was good, the dialogue felt real (except for sometimes during the ubiquitous sex scenes), but it was believable enough to fully draw me into the world for a few hours. Another good read from Ali Vali.
These books just keep getting better. The characters are well written and interesting. These books have strong women characters which is always a plus for me. There's spot of bad people in these books but Cain isn't one of them she just finishes what they started. Thanks for another good read.
Another great thriller with Cain, Emma, and the blended mobster families. Near the end of the book, it was really intense for me, and I'm really looking forward to the next book.
And this page-turning saga continues. Cain is still NOLA's smoothest crime boss. The Devil Unleashed was mushier than this one; however, towards the end of Deal with the Devil, I could feel how much Emma means to to Cain. Dallas and Remi's relationship is a lite version of Emma and Cain's relationship. The major differences being Dallas comes with heavier baggage, and it took the Casey's a year to consummate their relationship versus a week or two for Remi and Dallas. And to Jimmy Pitre, Anthony Curtis, and Juan Luis? Man, it sucks to be you!
I'm not really a fan of series- primarily because it would mean I'd have to gather every book to understand the next- but for this one, I was more than willing to go out of my way and to say it was well worth it is an understatement. It's great to see a steamy romance novel that actually has depth and a solid storyline. Emma and Cain are getting closer by the day; I'm glad to see such a loving relationship instead of those usual stories where the girls both sleep around. You can see the love in it to the point you're almost envious!
Another great book, I'm excited to read the next one!
This is the third instalment of the Cain Casey saga – a series with New Orleans mobster Derby Cain Casey as the central figure with plots, schemes and killings galore sprinkled with a seasoning of romance and sex.
