The parables of Jesus Christ were as much designed to conceal as they were to reveal. The authors of this new commentary examine the layers of meaning in the parables that account for roughly one-third of the Savior's recorded sayings. Added background, such as historical details, cultural customs, nuances of language, and local geography, adds context useful in clarifying the meaning of the thirty-one parables recorded in the New Testament. Incorporating statements from modern Church leaders, the authors also include a "Personal Application" section highlighting the continued practical relevance of the parables in our day. Crack the code of these deceptively simple parables and derive the full benefit of their precious teachings.
A good and helpful book that is useful in aiding understanding of the Parables of Jesus Christ. I particularly appreciated how well the authors pulled in other scriptures that alluded to and shed light on the parables as well as brought in quotations from modern prophets and apostles that were very helpful. I learned some good things. This book was a valuable part of my education in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
A thorough dive into each of the Lord’s parables. The authors do a fantastic job of highlighting context and connections that enrich the meaning of the parables. Their approach highlights key meaning from the parables without overstepping or looking beyond the mark. This is an incredible reference I am sure I will turn back to time and again.
This book is very good and definitely puts your life into perspective on how you should be living you life like Christ. I have a hard time with nonfiction but it was still really good.
Amazing book with so much in depth knowledge of the parables that it's hard to take it all in. For those who have a desire to know more about the parables, their background, related stories from apostles, etc. Very interesting!
I really enjoyed this book and plan to read it again. I've always had a hard time understanding parables. They're kind of like riddles to me.(Ugh) But this book wa very helpful. Good read
