On the Isle of Caledron

Rate this book
An ancient evil threatens to destroy the people of faith, and the princess is to be their first victim.

Just as Princess Mariya of Teman is trying to convince the elders to let her marry General Corden of Rygia, she disappears and is taken to a dark and mysterious island run by her people’s ancient enemy. Her sacrifice at their hands will clinch their power to conquer her realm.

Not knowing where she is, her people blame Corden for her disappearance, but only he has any chance to rescue her.

Confronted with death, the characters must learn what it means to offer themselves and let the guilty one go free.

The seven books of The Alliance series deal with one man’s spiritual journey and his efforts to find the true king. As he attempts to spread the light of God to his people, an ancient evil threatens both his land and Teman, the neighboring realm of righteous believers. The two formerly antagonistic realms must learn to work together to dispel this encroaching evil. Yet a growing number of dissenters believe they might be better off following the stronger, darker power. The race of people who call themselves Rygian become caught in the middle of a struggle between ancient enemies—those who fear God and those who follow this darker power. The Rygians’ own mysterious beginnings may hold the key to their future, if only they can discover who they truly are.

Through the lives of the characters, many Christian traits and spiritual truths are exemplified. The Alliance is marked by epic battles, political intrigue, suspense, mystery, and romance.

Clean Fantasy

“The shadow moves as the sun commands.”

As darkness moves in through Rygia and Teman seeking to devour its prey, Princess Mari finds she may be its first target.

Corden finds himself forgiven and on a totally different path than he would ever think he would have been on. As he tries to broker an alliance with Rygia and Teman, his new found faith will be tested. Just as he and Mari begin to convince the Temanites that their union would bring peace to each nation, the princess is captured by an ancient enemy. Not knowing who is responsible, the people of Teman point the blame at Corden. In order to clear his name and save the princess, he finds he is her only hope. It is in this trial that he and others will have to face death, and find out what it means to truly forgive and become a sacrifice.

Another great installment to this totally underrated series! The beginning started a little slower than the first book but there were new characters
that were being introduced. We get a new villain- and let me just tell you, he made my skin crawl!! By the half way mark, the book took off at rapid speed. My favorite character is still Paulus♥️!! He’s so adorable and quickly finding his courage. Also enjoyed the new developments with Anna and Stephen. Overall, great series so far!

*Does include some tame blood/gore due to battles and war

This was such a page-turner! So much going on, and so much back-and-forth that makes you anxious to reach the next chapter. Some of the villain's dialogue outlining plans for his prisoners is not suited for younger readers, but the rest will definitely keep everyone on the edge of their seat!

Funny and hopeful while dark and twisted, The Alliance pulls off an even better read than the first. Beautiful love, the finest characters I have ever seen, and a touch of the ethereal... You can almost see the bright voice of the messianic orphan Mercy festering into the cold inflections of the prince Letah calling Mari his little dove, the love for Stephen pulsing in the innocent soul of young Anna Corden. It seems a stretch to say this book will absolutely change you.

But it is NOT. This series is in the top 10 best choices I have made in my life.

The tales of Rygia and Teman continue in this epic sequel. Although this book starts out at a slower pace, it was not long before it fixed my attention and held it to the end.

The world and plot deepens as Lyons reveals more landscape, characters, and background. In this book, Lyons also shows a darker side of the world, and there is some mention of gore. I would not recommend this book for young audiences (under 14), yet these point strengthen the plot and reveals the extent of villainy.

The characterization in this book was excellent. Not only did I learn more about Corden and Mari, but also about Stephen, Philip, and Paulus. The message was powerful, and Lyons continues to build upon the theme of forgiveness.

Humor and hope alleviate a tale which is exceedingly dark at times.
Princess Mari has been abducted and taken to a Dark Isle by the worst enemy of her people. The man promised to her in marriage scrambles to save her while the Princess' race suspects him of her abduction.
Justus manages to scrape together a handful of friends and sails towards a dire fate. Will his friends stay loyal, or will they be overwhelmed by the evil which inhabits this vile island?
Forgiveness and mercy are the subjects of this riveting book.
