Madison Daniel an attorney has never once second guessed taking on cases of animosity because of race, sex, gender, and status many times to the point of being radical. Now, she’s reluctant to allow her love for Jared Bartel to flourish for fear that the thoughtless acts of others might be what draws them apart in the end, all because Jared is white.
Jared Bartel a legal advisor to the Senator of Maryland cannot believe the attraction he has developed for Madison in such a short time. Knowing she is disinclined about entering into an interracial relationship, he is willing and determined to do whatever is necessary to get her to see him not as a white man, but a man willing to risk everything to love and be loved by her.
I decided to read this book because the plot was different then your normal interracial plot. It's usually the families and friends of the hero and heroine that have problems with the relationship. However, in this book the heroine (Madison) was having a problem deciding whether she could stay in a relationship with the hero (Jared) because he was white.
Once I started reading Lingering Doubt I was happy to find that the hero and heroine were both professional and successful people. Neither had a status far above or far below the other.
I was expecting to see a lot of race drama with the families and friends of Madison and Jared, but it only came from one individual (you'll have to read it to find out who it was). Everyone else was fine with it, and there was even a family member of Madison's that reprimanded Madison for her doubts of the relationship (I'm not spoiling who that person is either).
Overall, I really enjoyed this book, I would definitely read more from this author.
