There is this easiness in Katie St. Claire’s writing style that I adore. So no wonder I lost myself in the story, enjoying meeting the old friends and allowing myself to hook so badly I reached the last page in no time…
The launch of Immortality is getting close but Julia has her doubts about the product. Things are getting complicated with Nic, and the discoveries about Sebastian are not helping with Julia trying to solve her feelings. She’s not as naïve as she used to be and her eyes are opening with a rush. Even though she’s more mature there’s this certain young girl vulnerability in her that makes her so different from the others.
Katie St. Claire sure knows how to awaken strong emotions in reader, wrapping them around her talented finger and leaving them hunger for more. I don’t want to reveal too much but I have to say that even though I’ve liked Nic from the beginning, I’m SO on team Sebastian! Oh, wow!
Katie St. Claire’s words are pure chocolate for my soul! And I promise, I will be reading whatever she writes in the future…even the phonebook if it comes to that!
I can't get enough of this authors voice. The way she writes is so smooth and sharp that I want to jot down all her lines and use them myself. Maybe I even want to sit down to lunch with her and experience this in the real world. I love the quick perky pace and the ongoing banter that comes from inside her head and lands on the pages.
"He grins and sits down with his bowl of cereal, bare chest, and heavenly eyes. Concentrating will be an act of God."
I can't help but laugh out loud. The writing makes the story just come alive. This is a very unique ability that I have barely witnessed while reading a book. The storyline though intriguing wouldn't be as magical without this talent. I take note and hope with all my might that just a bit of it drips down on me. Some people just possess a natural gift and I would say Miss St. Claire surely does. I adored the first book, “Second Hand Stops" so you can understand my excitement when I noticed “Rewind Forward” was now available. It's an adventure ride that I was excited to take. I have been waiting for this to happen and for that I am grateful.
This unique tale opens and greets you like an old friend. Takes you right in and holds you hostage. That is what a great book is meant to do. As I read, I am astonished and blown away at the same time. The clever lines continue you to spill out as I repeat them over and over in my head. The wit and glorious sarcasm continue throughout making this an extraordinary read. I highly recommend. Obviously.
"The excitement is bursting through every vein in my body like champagne bubbles and I excuse myself to take a shower. Nothing relaxes me more than being in water. I silently thank God for my life even though it's probably the most unusual life anyone's ever landed in. Perhaps it would be more fitting if my name were Alice."
When Julia and Nic get back from their horrid vacation, no one but Sebastian believes her about the talking meerkats. Julia still despises Catherine and Nic still doesn't really seem to care that Catherine is all over him every chance she gets. Though when Nic proposes to Julia she's very happy but not sure why all of a sudden Nic took this step. They are getting married in two weeks time and everything is being taken care of. I was kind of sad though because a part of me has always wanted Julia to end up with Sebastian. With Nic's birthday coming up, she gets her new girlfriend Rhenn to help her with the perfect gift, which you later find out Nic doesn't appreciate. At Nic's birthday, Julia talks to Jack and he apologizes about making her look like a lunatic. Turns out Jack died two weeks earlier. Julia can talk to dead people now? When she faints an hits her head at the knowledge, Sebastian ends up being the one to take care of her in the end. Along the way, with the help of Jack, she learns more secrets about her family. Not her legal family but family by genetics. Will Julia be able to get past all the lies that she discovers. Is her Great Grandfather truly as bad as Jack makes him out to be or is Jack really the bad guy? This story takes you on a roller coaster of twists and turns and you won't want to put the book down. Katie is truly an amazing author! I can't wait to read the third and final story of this trilogy!
Great sequel to Second Hand Stops! I thought the first book was full of twists and turns, but this one had so much MORE...more love, more betrayal, more intrigue, more mystery.
Although shaken, Julia once again demonstrates the resiliency that she had developed in the first book. She seems to come into more of her own confidence as well despite Nic's narcissism. In the first book we saw Julia's childhood and young adulthood suddenly be turned on its head, but in this one we see her blossom into a woman. While it is painful she does a lot of growing, searching, and learning over the course of this story.
And to be honest I don't like love triangles. They are usually messy and just ugh, can't someone make up their damn mind over who they want?? But the author does well in not making Julia seem weak and wishy-washy as she is confronted with both Nic and Sebastian competing for her affections.
The abilities that each posses are unique but aren't so far-fetched that they don't fit into the daily lives of the Van Buren's. The story flowed well and I wasn't left confused at any point in the story about the who/what/when/where of the scene. Now the "whys" are still being sorted out...I can't wait to read the next one!
This story picks up with a twist where book one left off. Julia is no longer the sheltered teen. Now she is mixing with others even as her powers grow. She looks at her world through new eyes and doesn’t always like what she sees. A new and stronger Julia is emerging; one who asks questions and doesn’t take half-answers kindly.
All the special children are now becoming adults and with that change comes surprising alterations in attitude. Sebastian is still challenging Nic for Julia, but he has altered, or is it how Julia now sees him?
Why Claude had an interest in the special children is opened up just a little. A tantalizing look into a section of what happened and then a glimpse of what could be is all Julia has in her quest for the truth. Aside from her origins, she needs to know if there will be consequences from marketing Claude’s elixir of anti-aging to the general public. The perfect world is developing very serious flaws.
The pace is electric and now I must wait for the next book to come out.
I was given a copy of the ebook in exchange for my honest opinion.
I really loved book #1, Second Hand Stops, so I needed to read this book to have my questions answered. Again this is not in my normal range of what I read, but I liked the description. I like to read whatever I can get my hands on.
Julia is so full of spirit and full of questions for those around her. She is definitely curious. Julia wants to know who she is, why a man left her at Lillian's doorstep, and does she have any family? What she is about to learn is a lot more than a person should learn. It is WOW!
I have had some of my questions answered, but now I have even more questions. I hope my questions are answered in Book #3, which I can not wait to read.
☆☆☆☆☆ I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. Would I recommend this book? Yes! Author? Yes! Would I read more from this author? Yes!
Once again we are drawn into this complex storyline racing to absorb all the new and tricky information as it is presented to us. The saying "nothing is as it seems" is an accurate description as the different storyline's merge with new twists and turns. Julia is the key to the puzzle and it becomes more obvious as the story unfolds. Characters that you once liked become tainted and some of those who were unpopular are elevated to good guys. This is not a fast reading experience , you will need to take time to assimilate all the different nuances to fully appreciate all the finer details and grasp the full extent of this amazing tale. If you are looking for a good series to stimulate your mind and make you think about the possibilities, pick up this series.
REWIND FORWARD is the second book in a series about eternal youth. Julia has recovered from her shock of the contents of the caves where the mysterious elixir is made and her and Nic are returning to New York to work on the release of the anti-ageing substance "Immortality". However, Julia has her doubts about a lot of things, including her relationship with Nic. It's another great book by Katie St. Claire and I will be looking forward to the third in the series that will hopefully provide some answers to questions. Well written and executed and highly recommended to those who love young adult paranormal with a twist of sci-fi. Great book!
It's official, I'm now hooked on this series. And as for liking Nic in the first series....boy did I change my mind and totally fall for bad boy Sebastian. While I am an avid 'DO NOT MAKE LOVE TRIANGLES' girl...Ms St Claire made this one spectacularly honest. It wasn't Jules 'umming' and 'ahhing' about which one she liked but growing boys-to-men fighting over her with their telepathic abilities. Swoon. If only a man could understand my head like that! The plot gets increasingly thicker from where it left off in book one and the surprises are delightful along the way. I have a feeling Ms St Claire has plenty more for us though...SO WHEN DOES BOOK THREE COME OUT?!?!
I totally didn't expect the twist in this book after reading Second Hand Stops, but after it took off, I totally get why Katie St. Claire did what she did. This book kept me up all night, and I can't wait for the next one. She can't write them quick enough for me and I hope she doesn't stop after the third one because I love this series! If you see this review Katie, please don't stop at threeeeeee!
I've had the pleasure of knowing Katie St. Clair and her writing for quite a while. Her writing style makes reading her stories effortless. They are smooth and the story flows along like a river. But that doesn’t mean they are boring. Rewind has so many twists in, it'll keep you guessing what's going to happen next and keep you reading until late in the night. If you haven't read a Katie St.Clair book – this instant - purchase one and get reading.
OMG this books so good! Its even better than Second Hand Stops and I loved that book. Whatever you think will happen in book one changes and your like what just happened here??? But after I let go of what I wanted to happen between Nic and Julia, I was so happy she made the decisions she did. This series is so unigue and unusual and now I have a new favorete author!!! Whats weird is that I could picture all the scenes while I was reading them. Specally at the launch party and Echalon Spa. I dont want to give anything away but its wicked.
Im reading Fast Forward this weekend so Ill write my review then. Yall have to read this series!
