Authority Abusers: Toxic Leadership and Its Effects in Homes, Churches, and Relationships

Rate this book
As surely as the absence of authority produces chaos, the abuse of authority produces destruction. Tragically, it's inside the church--where salvation and love should abound--that some of the worst authority abuse takes place. God's design for authority has been misunderstood, twisted, and manipulated, leaving innocent people as victims and prisoners of controlling, abusive situations. Wake up! This is not God's design for the church-or authority. Bishop George Bloomer will show you the key to breaking free from the bondage of spiritual abuse.

Helpful, insightful. Gave a clear reason why people engage in abusive authority. However, too simplistic. Bloomer never addressed domestic abuse in any meaningful way. Never mentioned the idea of marital headship (authority) in the home and how often that is misunderstood and abused. Could have dealt with 1 Cor. 11 and Eph. 5, but didn't go within miles of it. A missed opportunity.

He did a better job addressing some church leadership issues. Overall, I would have preferred a more comprehensive scope.
