Librarian's note: This is an alternate cover edition for ASIN B00BF25IS6.

The Devil DeVere Series- Library Journal Best E-Book Romance 2012
This short erotic installment in the award-winning Devil DeVere series can stand alone as a complete story, but also serves to bridge The Devil's Match and Jewel of the East (Salime and Simon's story).
In her last month of pregnancy, Diana, Viscountess DeVere, has barely settled into her new life and role as "the devil" DeVere's wife, when her increasingly restless husband receives an urgent summons to London. When Diana inadvertently discovers a message he received from a known courtesan with whom he was formerly linked, she fears her marriage is over before it has begun.
They were barely three months into a marriage that had begun on rather shaky ground. Was it possible that for him, the novelty of it had already worn off? This had always been Diana's greatest fear, for Ludovic was a man with a voracious sensual appetite, one he had honed with years of endless variety and constant, unrestrained indulgence. Diana, on the contrary, had known only one true lover--this same perplexing man who was now her husband--the one who had made her heavy with his child...and now left her alone in a cold bed.

Hey, everyone! A Devil's Touch is free this weekend!

AMAZON: http://www.amazon.com/DEVILS-TOUCH-De...

Deliciously wicked and delightfully romantic, A Devil's Touch is the perfect glimpse into Diana and Lud's marriage, and it comes just in time for Valentines Day!
From the cover:

In her last month of pregnancy, Diana, Viscountess DeVere, has barely settled into her new life and role as "the devil" DeVere's wife, when her increasingly restlesss husband receives an urgent summons to London. When Diana inadvertently discovers a message he received from a known courtesan with whom he was formerly linked, she fears her marriage is over before it has begun.
I admit that reading the blurb had me a bit concerned about the angst level of this story, but I should have known better than doubt Ms. Vane, who hasn't failed me yet. I can't even begin to tell you what a joy - and a very sexy one at that - it's been to read this story!

Fans of The Devil DeVere series, you do not want to miss this erotic, romantic, witty, vignette. And for those who haven't yet had the pleasure of experiencing Ms. Vane's storytelling, A Devil's Touch works well as a standalone, and is a great way to get a taste of this very talented author's writing, if you don't mind coming in after the happily ever after has begun.

Sexual content: Please note that this is an erotic story and contains explicit scenes of oral and anal sex.

My thanks, as always, to the author for providing me with a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review! It's been a pleasure!

And further thanks to our very dear friend, Karla Parks, for requesting that we be given a chance to revisit Di and Lud, and to Ms. Vane for obliging!

4 1/2 Stars! The Mistress of Sensuality does it again!! Once again she uses few words to craft a full story!

Thank you Victoria Vane for allowing us back into the lives of one of our favorite couples, Ludovic and Diana. Does the passion still burn hot between these two? YOU BET IT DOES!!

As our couple settles into married life, Diana's insecurities over shadow her thinking, along with all those pregnancy hormones. DeVere shows her in the most intimate of ways, that she is, and always will be the only one for him. He just needs her to relinquish herself to him and trust that his intentions are to give her pleasure. Pregnancy sex...sensual and erotic! WOW!

Witty dialogue, lots of lust and fun times with The Devil and his wife. Life as they know it is about to change forever. This vignette also acts as a segue to Jewel of the East, Simon and Salime's book.

Keep them coming Victoria! I can't get enough.

I just adore this series! I usually don't like shorter stories, but Victoria Vane packs such heart and wit into each of her characters...each new addition the the story of DeVere and his cronies is like catching up with old friends. Mischievous old friends ;P;P

So DeVere and Diana are going to be parents. This story takes place just a few short months after The Devil's Match.
Diana is coming to the end of her pregnancy and is not feeling her sexiest. So when Ludovic seems to pull away from her sexually, she takes quite the emotional punch. Any woman who's gone through pregnancy...and likely those who haven't...can relate to poor Diana. And when DeVere takes a sudden trip into town, Diana finds more that she perceives as "evidence" of his infidelity. After all, DeVere is quite the debauched man...has he really given up his crazy life for this new life of domestic monotony?

When Ludovic figures out the doubts that are plaguing his beloved Diana...well, suffice it to say that DeVere does what DeVere does best. And it's sexy as hell!!!!! He's very convincing, and very intense in how he proves to Diana that she needs to finally let go of her doubts and fully trust him.

Again, what a marvelous series...what a great character, both Diana and DeVere...and this was a beautiful step in the relationship between these two. DeVere's reaction to fatherhood? PRICELESS!!!!!

************************************************
EDIT TO ADD: I forgot to mention that this sets the stage for the next book in the DeVere series. It's to be the story of Simon and Salime. I'm a little apprehensive about how I can be made to like Salime, as she seems to think of herself really as just a tool for use by other people, and I tend to like - if not ridiculously strong women, at least women who have an end point, and some idea as to their own self worth. We shall see! I do think I love Simon, considering all he's gone through.

4.5 Luscious, Delectable Stars!

Ludovic DeVere is a man with a voracious sensual appetite. For years, he's indulged in every variety of unrestrained sexual encounters. This devil's prurient interest in all things erotic is well known, especially by his new wife, Diana.

They've now been together eighteen months and are three months into their marriage. Now his lucky wife is the one being lavished with all his attention.

Even in the last month of her pregnancy, Ludovic still makes all her naughty bits stand up and sing. But suddenly things change and now Diana is worried. It's been eight days since their last intimate encounter.

Her nagging fear is that Ludovic will tire of her and that she won't be enough to satisfy his cravings. What she finds in his library sends her deeper into unnecessary anguish.

Diana faced the problem head on and the results are a delicious, erotic, romantic tale that leaves no doubt of Ludovic's feelings! I loved this vignette! Who knew pregnancy sex could be so H.O.T.!!

"Listen to me carefully, Diana. I have f**ked many women. Some were beautiful, exotic, and even mysterious, but I have loved only you."

If you are a fan of the Devil DeVere series this is MUST read!

Ms. Vane states the entire idea for her series of Devilish Vignettes originated from a suggestion from our dear friend, Karla Parks, who wanted a glimpse into Diana and Ludovic's married life. A BIG Hug and Thank You Karla for providing the inspiration and getting us another glimpse into the life of one of my favorite couples!

Victoria Vane never fails to deliver! Her superb writing and engaging characters keep me completely invested until the very end. Getting a glimpse into Salime and Simon's background, I can hardly wait for their upcoming story, Jewel of the East!

Thank you Victoria for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review. It was such a pleasure!

Wow, this is absolutely fabulous! To catch up with our favorite hero Ludovic and his beautiful strong willed wife Diana is such a treat.

In the bloom of her life and carrying DeVere’s child, Diana stumbles on a letter that rouses her suspicions that he may be having an affair with an old courtesan. When she confronts DeVere himself, this is where the passion between the two ignites!

He pulled her into his embrace with a groan, caressing her back, plying soft kisses to her hair, then her brow, her eyes, and all over her lovely face. “I can’t bear to hear your suspicions, Diana. Not knowing how much you still hold back from me when all I am is yours.”

Ludovic, once a rake with a voracious sexual appetite, resulting in many different partners in the past, has finally found love and happiness with his beloved Diana. To have a man like DeVere giving his love and devotion to her is a sight to behold. Diana is one lucky woman.

This is such a well written story, with smooth and witty dialogue makes this a must read.

Victoria Vane does it for me again and in a BIG WAY!!

I read all types of steamy romances but erotic historical's are my favorites. It just seems to me as time passes that there are less of these being written so I MUST thank Victoria Vane for keeping them coming.

The Devil's Touch was pure EXCELLANCE in my eye's. I was totally at awe as I read. Victoria just has a way with her words and hitting EVERYTHING I most enjoy in my erotic romances. I can't believe how she can take such a short story and make me REALLY FEEL IT. I'm tearing up just writing this review, that's how good it was to me.

If you love a fantastic erotic romance and have NOT given Victoria Vane's Devil Devere series a try then I URGE you to do so because I can honestly say that you are MISSING OUT BIG TIME!!!

★★★★½ (This is a review of the audiobook.) Eva Hathaway is the narrator again for one last entry into the love story of Ludovic and Diana’s enduring romance. I don't know enough about the recording process to know if they can edit her hard “S” sounds, but by the third time of hearing her, it doesn’t detract from the story.

Victoria Vane delves into erotica this time around, but it is handled tastefully. This was a wonderful addition to the series.

Kudos for the image of a pregnant Diana in all her glory on the cover.

This was a steamy yet satisfyingly tender vignette in Victoria Vane's superb DeVere series. If you have not read Diana and Ludovic's story, do not start here as this will feel a bit out of place. Diana and Ludovic are newly married and expecting their first child within the month. Ludovic has been told to keep his hands off his wife (humor abounds here) but he does not tell Diana and Diana is worried he is up to his old, wild ways. She hopes to entice him back to the bedroom but he flees to London to attend to some unexpected business....business that Diana fears involves another woman. A confrontation ensures and the resulting passion is sure to make you blush.

I loved seeing a bit more into Diana and Ludovic's married life and this felt like an extra couple of chapters and I gobbled it up. I loved how it is smoking hot yet at the same time, very true to their natures and very tender and sweet. We get another glimpse of the characters who are coming up in the series and this was a great way to get a bit more back story on them. Fans of Victoria Vane will devour this story and have a happy grin on their face when they are done with it. I am a huge fan of Ms Vane and this is why. 4 1/2 stars

‘God help me. Will I ever get enough of this man?’
- Diana

Well, if the man in question just happens to be the sublime Ludovic DeVere, the answer is most definitely NO!

A Devil's Touch, the latest addition to the fantastic Devil DeVere series, is a tantalisingly wicked treat that shouldn't be missed. Even within the constraints of this short vignette, there is so much richness and depth to the story. I loved this glimpse into their marriage and sharing every moment with them:

Diana’s insecurities and fears…

…now she worried he had already wearied of domesticity, or worse, if he was simply bored…with her. Maybe he had come to regret married life? The more she thought about it, the more distressed she became.

Ludovic’s frustrations…

It had been precisely eight days and six hours since he'd touched her, and he was already as edgy as a convict awaiting the noose. He still had seventy-six more days of celibacy to bear and felt so full of his own unspent essence that he thought he would burst.

The need for trust…

"It seems," he stated, dark and ominous, "that what we really have are unresolved issues of trust between us. I have sworn my devotion, my fidelity. We will end this right now. There is no room in this relationship for jealousy and suspicion."

Their overwhelming love for each other…

…Diana feared her heart would burst from her love for him.

“I need you, Diana. You are my light, my sustenance. You are everything to me."

and the joys of parenthood…

He came closer to examine the tiny creature's features,, only to have them contort and let out a blood--curdling screech.
"My God! What's wrong with it?" he demanded.

Certain aspects of Diana and Ludovic’s sizzling hot love scene would normally be a big turn off for me but I put my faith in Ms Vane and she didn’t fail me. This scene is so beautifully written and I fully appreciate why it was essential for both the story and the characters.

I’m pleased to see that, although he may have given up his hedonistic ways, Ludovic is still the master at manipulating people…

"I have every confidence in you, my dear. Simon means a great deal to me. Should you accept this proposition, I would be exceedingly pleased. Moreover, I would provide you most generous compensation."

Now I can’t wait to see the results of his meddling in Simon and Salime’s story, Jewel of the East!

Lushly erotic and deeply romantic, this is storytelling at its best by a mistress of her craft.

How I imagine Ludovic ~

How I imagine Diana ~

RATING: A STELLAR ★★★★★

SENSUALITY RATING : SCORCHING HOT!

Warning: This vignette contains elements of an erotic nature and may not be to everyone’s taste.

"A Devil's Touch"...A Devilish Vignette by Victoria Vane was a continued read from 'The Devil's Match..Book 4 and I was left only thinking Wow whata good read. This was just another one of Ms. Vane good well written novella. This story involves the married life of Diana and Ludovic. We now find Diana is pregnant and suffering from insecurities that are there with pregnancy...willshe be able to keep Ludovic interested in her? I don't think that will be a problem for Ludovic once he stops listening to the doctor...and with that being said this is where I say you must pick up this wonderful read to find out just what all is going on in "A Devil's Touch"...and also finding out.. What is going on with Ned, Salime and Simon? You will find all of the characters every developed in this short solid read that will only leave you wanting more.

This author is such a wonderful storyteller leaving you not able to put her reads down until the very last word and YES, I would recommend this read.

What fun to see Ludovic and Diana struggling to adjust to married life. Since she's nine months pregnant and the physician has told Ludovic that it isn't safe for them to have sex, I wondered how Victoria Vane would manage to keep up the steam factor found in her earlier books. Not a problem, for Ludovic is quite the creative lover.

I've totally enjoyed this entire series and am looking forward to the next installment.

INTRO

WARNING : This review is laden with alliteration. If you find this writing affect disagreeable, then please know that you’ve been warned. All I can say is: The Devil DeVere made me do it!

As with the Bard, all’s well that ends well, for the course of true love never did go smooth, and parting was such sweet sorrow the day the Devil DeVere fell victim to Eros’ fiery dart. Although, the libidinous, lurid, and loveable Devil DeVere gained his hot HEA with the delicious Diana by the end of The Devil’s Match, the majority of his fan girls (and boys) battled feelings of overwhelming disappointment once all the wicked fun screeched to a resounding halt. I trust that this delectable morsel, A Devil’s Touch, will soothe all the pains from DeVere withdrawal while inflaming the imagination. Indeed, I fear that author Victoria Vane has reached another pinnacle of writing while keeping her readers delightfully tangled in the DeVere loop.

PLOT OVERVIEW

And so devoted DeVere-ites, A Devil’s Touch begins one early morn with burgeoning bride, Viscountess Diana DeVere, who is well into three months of wedded bliss with her devilish husband, when she begins to question his feelings for her. Many women fear that in the advanced stages of pregnancy, they will become less desirable, and Diana, is no exception despite the fact DeVere has been above reproach and extremely loving inside and outside the boudoir—until recently. Along with the baggage from her disastrous first marriage, Diana stumbles into some very unpleasant conclusions when she discovers a discarded missive from a former lover after DeVere has made announcement that he must travel to London to assist an old friend who has just endured a harrowing ordeal for several years.

Is DeVere seeking to spare her feelings? Has he grown bored, longing for variety in the arms of a past lover? Should she confront him with his probable betrayal? Can she survive the devastating heartbreak of losing him now?

Angst and anguish build, burning in the fire of Lady DeVere’s ire and torment as she waits for “poor” DeVere’s arrival. Once the showdown between husband and wife commences, Diana earns the unleashed measure of her spouse and erstwhile lover, while coming into her own strength. DeVere demonstrates another glimpse into what makes him complex, commanding, and cocksure. The finale is wrapped up with Ms. Vane’s familiar fun-loving wit.

CLOSING THOUGHTS

Readers prepare for one blazing, searing scene where our roguish, rockstar nobleman and his fecund beloved set the room of their boudoir aflame. A Devil’s Touch is guaranteed to knock you out of your chair and off your feet when you attempt to stand up to take a cold shower. As you leave the house to stop yourself from rereading this scorching vignette, the distraction of your simmering thoughts will cause you to stumble and roll down the sidewalk. I fear you won’t notice because your imagination will be bursting with DeVere and Diana’s most intimate moments as they cross the Rubicon of their relationship.

Each time I revisit these romps, I cross my fingers with the hope that Ms. Vane will not only continue writing about DeVere but that she will double the fun by increasing the length to a novel. Yet, I’m committed to confess that part of the charm is the sizzling doses of DeVere and Co. are what keep me coming back. Again and again.

Another awesome story from Victoria!

A DEVIL'S TOUCH by Victoria Vane is the perfect bridge that fills in the blanks for those of us who have followed this series from the beginning, and a perfect introduction to the series as a stand alone for anyone who wants to just try a taste. Be forewarned - once you get a taste of the Devil DeVere, like chocolate, you'll not be able to stop. The timing is perfect for the release of this sweet story that shines a whole new light on the wickedly sexy, Ludovic DeVere. Not only does the story have a beautiful Valentine's Day ending but we find out how Simon and Salime are thrown together in anticipation of their own story - JEWEL OF THE EAST - coming soon!

As usual Victoria has invited us into the sexy world of the Devil DeVere, so unlike the first vignette - THE DEVIL IN THE MAKING - this vignette, A DEVIL'S TOUCH, is a very sexy addition to the series. If you're prudish and sway away from erotica, this one might not be for you. But, if you appreciate the love between Ludovic and his Diana, the adventurousness of this sexually charged man, and the devotion Diana has for him, you will appreciate, comprehend, and respect where Victoria takes the newlyweds in A DEVIL'S TOUCH.

I highly recommend this romantic, emotional, sex-charged Devilish Vignette, A DEVIL'S TOUCH by Victoria Vane, to anyone who just loves a sigh-worthy happy ending.

"I need you Diana. You are my light, my sustenance. You are everything to me."

Diana and the Devil DeVere have had a turbulent, rocky, hot romance from the very beginning. Their marriage is no less turbulent and HOT!

Diana is in the last month of pregnancy. DeVere, feeling scared for Diana, refuses to touch her. He’s edgy, frustrated and trying his best. Diana misreads him and thinks he’s fallen out of love and lust with her and has moved on. Boy is she ever wrong. But then, pregnant women aren’t exactly calm and rational. Diana finds “proof” of his infidelity and confronts him. When he explains what the “proof” really was, he demands her total trust. He’s tired of living through her reservations.

What follows is a night of unbridled hotness that will leave you panting!

Diana will show DeVere how much she loves him. DeVere will show Diana that he’s all hers, now and forever.

This is a must read for all Devil DeVere lovers. It gives us a glimpse into the married life between Devil and Diana.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Ahhh, I loved it! This is one of my favorite sexy historical romance series, and Diana and DeVere two of my favorite characters. This story takes place 3 months after their wedding, with Diana well into her pregnancy. A doctor tells DeVere to refrain from sexual relations with his wife, and the sexual frustration between them crest with an hilarious and oh-so-sexy crescendo. I just love these two together, their banter and love for each other keeps me glued.

This story also introduces Captain Simon 'Sin' Singleton, the hero of book 5, Jewel of the East. We don't actually meet him, but we learn he was once thought dead, and a bit about his actual plight as a war prisoner all of these years. DeVere and Sir Edward 'Ned' Chambers (from book 1) were close friends with Sin before his disappearance, and decides to 'help' Sin in his recovery. No doubt DeVere and Ned's shenanigans of 'help' will be center to Sin's story, and I can't wait to read it!

Thank to author Victoria Vane for providing this ARC copy. I absolutely love this series, and would have happily bought it otherwise.

This was a novella set shortly after the end of The Devil's Match. I enjoyed it, but not as much as Diana and Ludovic's other books. In this story there is a misunderstanding that leads to doubts and fears on Diana's part. Her doubts and fears anger Ludovic, making him prove her trust. I think perhaps it was this that bothered me most in the story. When he should have been supporting her most, he was pushing her limits. But that could be the midwife in me, I am probably always going to side with the pregnant mom. It worked for them though and they were happy in the end. The audio of this book was quite good as well. And I have to say that this cover is just beautiful!

I would like to thank the author for providing me with a copy of this audiobook to review.

A very big thank you to Victoria Vane for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow. This was really sweet and scorching hot. It was really awesome to read about DeVere and Diana. I was really excited to catch a glimpse of their married life.

Other than that, we also get to see Ned again, albeit briefly, but it was still good to catch with these beloved characters. We also get to know how Salime and Simon are 'introduce' to each other.

Miss Victoria is truly a talented storyteller. Although this is only a novella with less than 80 pages, the characters are still so engaging, the plot strong and solid and the pace crisp.

Followers of the DeVere series—remember that insanely hot eastern dancer/courtesan/sex Goddess Salime?

She’s baack.

And nine-month-pregnant Diane is afraid her HEA with DeVere is derailed by his lust for Salime.

Juicy.

Vane goes erotic with this one and, after having spent some time with Victoria Vane at a local writer’s conference last year, I’m shocked.

Go Vic; you had me blushing.

The biggest plus to this story: the heroine is pregnant. She’s huge.

And her husband finds her attractive and shows it.

Spoiler: We get to see DeVere meet his new baby!

I absolutely loved the three novellas about Ludovic and Diana, they were so captivating from start to finish and beautifully written. One of the things I appreciated most was the authentic historical tone of the writing. So often, historical romances lean too heavily on modern dialogue, which can break the immersion, but that wasn’t the case here at all. It felt genuine and true to the period.

The chemistry between DeVere and Diana was electric from the very first moment they met. I especially loved how protective DeVere was of her, it added such depth to their relationship. Admittedly , as someone who prefers more “safe” heroes, I wasn’t a huge fan of Ludovic’s womanizing ways at first. But I respected that he never pretended to be something he wasn’t. He was honest about who he was, flaws and all, and once he truly committed to Diana, his loyalty was unwavering, which made his growth even more satisfying.

I’ll definitely be reading more from this author!

Just the idea of Ludo "Devil" DeVere attempting to be the perfect husband is enough to constitute the perfect Valentine's Day present all by itself!

What's even better is that this delightful Georgian bonbon actually delivers every bit of decadent deliciousness that lovers of The Devil DeVere Series could possibly wish for...and sets us all up for wicked delights yet to come.

On his best day, the Devil couldn't have maneuvered his puppets any better!

But in this little vignette, Ludo DeVere is definitely not having one of his best days. He has finally found that wedded bliss is actually blissful, provided one is wedded to the right woman. For him, that woman is Diana. Through all of their acquantaince, they have thrown sparks off each other at every turn. Even when they have been at their angriest with each other, the one thing they have never been is bored with each other.

Now Diana is radiantly pregnant with his child. Also about to burst with the child. Ludo is about to burst because the damned doctor says he shouldn't be bothering Diana for sex. Ludo's never gone 8 hours without sex, and now it's been 8 days. And bloody counting.

Diana has no idea what's wrong with Ludo. She thinks he's lost interest in her because she's the size of a small estate. He won't look at her. He won't touch her. She's lonely, bored and afraid.

Not to mention extremely pregnant.

Suddenly Ludo's best friend Ned arrives and whisks him away to London. Ludo claims it's an emergency regarding their boyhood friend Simon. Sin has miraculously returned to life after years as an American POW, but Diana fears there are darker motives for Ludo's sudden disappearance. After he departs, she finds a letter addressed to him from his former paramour Salime, requesting his immediate return to rescue her.

Diana, already afraid for her marriage, and questioning Ludo's rather recent conversion to marital fidelity after a lifetime of utter debauchery, wonders if he'll return at all, and whether she'll be better off (for certain utterly miserable values of "better") if he doesn't.

Ned gets a good laugh out of telling Ludo that the doctor was an idiot, which puts Ludo in a tearing hurry to return home, only to find that his wife has lost her rather shaky faith in him.

What lengths will they both have to go to bridge the chasm between them?

Escape Rating A: Reading A Devil's Touch is like indulging in your favorite decadent dessert. Death by Chocolate perhaps. It is very rich, but perfectly scrumptious, and a small serving is just right!

Unlike Devil in the Making, the first Devilish Vignette, A Devil's Touch is a complete story with a beginning, middle and end. It takes some shortcuts because we are expected to know all the characters. Even Simon was previously introduced in Devil in the Making.

Part of what makes this fun is that Ludo and Diana are still themselves. Ludo is still trying to stage-manage. He loves Diana, and he wants to do what's best for her. But rather than discuss it with her, he decides for her, and that's where the misunderstandammit starts. He gets into a lot of scrapes, and a lot of his scrapes with Diana, that way.

I hope she thinks it's part of his charm.

The setup for the next book in the series, Jewel of the East, is not-so-subtlely the way that Ludo rescues Salime by arranging for her to care for Simon. He's stage-managing again. When he does it for other people, it usually works wonders.

We'll find out in April. But first, it's time to congratulate Lord and Lady DeVere on the birth of their son. Ludovic Valentine DeVere, born 14 February 1784.

Happy Valentine's Day.

Oho! And yet again, I got to visit with two of my favorite characters to see how things are fairing for them after the Happily Ever After. I know that fans of the series will not be surprised when I share that these two are still hotter than sin in their passion for each other, but still have a few more hurdles to cross toward marital felicity.

The story picks up when Diana is nearing the end of her pregnancy. She worries over the new aloofness of DeVere thinking that he is bored with her or worse, that he's ready to move on. Has the rake really reformed she wonders.
DeVere on the other hand is following the doctor's orders not to engage in marital relations until well after the baby arrived. Between worry about Diana making it through the birth of their child and the frustration of forced abstinence he doesn't know how he'll make it the next several weeks. Then the letter from Salime requesting his help arrives and on its heels Ned enters with news that their old friend Simon, whom they thought killed in the war, is alive, but in a bad way. DeVere leaves with Ned to aid with Simon, but in his absence Diana finds the letter from his former mistress. That's when things get really interesting.

As can be surmised, mistrust and lack of communication cause no end of trouble and test the love between this pair of lovers. There is a deep sensuality shared by these two that absolutely scorches the pages. I should add a warning to those who are uneasy with it that there is an intense dramatic scene involving anal sex.

Besides the misunderstanding and the passion that this story offers, there is also the set up for Salime and Simon's stories. It was pleasant revisiting briefly with Ned.

I enjoyed this shorter bridge in the serial and recommend it to fans of the series. For those who haven't read the series, this should be read in series order for it to be appreciated. As to the series, those who enjoy historical erotica or steamy historical romances will appreciate these stories.

My thanks to the author for providing a copy of the story in exchange for an honest review.

This story happens three months after Ludovic DeVere and Diana found their happily-ever-after in The Devil's Match:

DeVere is torn between his lust and attraction for Diana and his need to see to her comfort as her confinement draws near -- and Diana is confused by her husband's sudden cold treatment of her. Then he abruptly goes to London with Ned, leaving Diana to wonder if the Devil has finally grown tired of domesticity.

In this vignette, Vane gives us a glimpse of Diana and Ludovic as they try to figure out married life. The honeymoon is over, and Diana is in an advanced state of pregnancy. Everything is new for our hero and heroine -- even though Diana was married before, she never experienced such love and such bliss with her late husband, who was abusive and cold. And the Devil's about to welcome his first child and has never had to care so much about another human being before.

It is a realistic and endearing view of our two characters. There is no doubt of the love they feel -- they just need to learn to express it better. Diana and Ludovic also discover that there is more to marriage than good sex: trust is also essential.

As a vignette, A Devil's Touch delivers a snapshot of Ludovic and Diana in stunning hi-definition -- the story is clear, cohesive and complete -- delving into what happens when the happily-ever-after-fairy-tale ending is over and real life begins.

4.5/5.0

Nine-months pregnant and three-months married, Diana is feeling just a little insecure when her husband, Ludovic DeVere, becomes increasingly distracted and seemingly bored with her and their new marriage. When he receives a missive from the beautiful, exotic Salime, Diana fears that monogamy may not suit the once insatiable and lascivious devil after all.

Victoria Vane has the knack of writing what is always a complete story regardless of the page count. This short vignette is simply delightful, giving us a look into the marriage of Diana and the once untamable DeVere.

Introduced as well is the next couple to have their romance told in the upcoming Jewel of the East (The Devil DeVere #5). Simon Singleton, home in England and believed dead for the past six years, and Salime, the courtesan, once under DeVere's protection.

DeVere known for his sexual excesses has a fittingly scorching love scene with his heavily pregnant wife. This is Ms Vane's most erotic title to date. It is not just sexually explicit but sensual and loving as well. No mean feat!

With Ms Vane's trademark prose and touches of humor - DeVere's first glimpse of his baby is priceless! - this is once again a brilliant, short story by a gifted writer of historical romance. Highly recommended.

Another great addition to The Devil DeVere series. Even though short, it is very satisfying and this one gave us an incredible and wonderful insight on where Diana and DeVere now stand. An enjoyable addition to add for any fans of the genre reading collection. I do however recommend reading ALL before this one of the series so you will have the true appreciation for how far the characters have come.

DeVere is HOT! I’ve loved him from the very start, faults and all. This man is just… insane, funny, fun and he has an incredible mind! His character has grown, matured and it is a wonderful thing to have experienced his transitioning into an even more incredibly desirable male.

Diana has mellowed out, a lot. She’s currently pregnant with her and DeVere’s first child and is going through the phases of pregnancy, feeling unattractive and unloved. Little does she know the real reasoning behind the lack of usual attention is formed by nothing by true love and devotion…

I love these two together and it makes me happy to see them still incredibly blissful and to have such a blessing that they received in this installment. Are we going to get any more Victoria? I know I want another one, or two :)

A very sweet little look into the lives of the DeVere couple. A lot of times a novella that takes place after the HEA will disappoint me, for it seems sometimes the couple has changed to much for my liking. They either have become too perfect or it is just a way to show that they have had babies. This look into their lives though had a point and a much needed exploration of something I thought made sense and was not bump in the road just to add trouble. It was a nice way of revisiting a couple that have their HEA and it seems to set up the next book and the future H/h. Look forward to reading more from this author and definitely this series.

My only complaint or should I say my only confusion was with the very end when Diana had her son. I distinctly remember reading in the epilogue of the last book, The Devil's Match, that it was noted that Diana and Ludovic had 8 children, all twins. Maybe I misread and they only had three sets of twins and the other two were singular births. Regardless that minor blip did not take away any enjoyment of this story and the look-see into this couples life after marriage.

A DEVIL'S TOUCH by Victoria Vane is an exciting Georgian erotic romance vignette set in 1784 London. Devilish Vignettes. #4.5 in the "Devil DeVere" series, but can be read as a stand alone. A quick fun read! What not to love with the Devilish DeVere and his lovely Diana. With hot, sizzling passion,a wary wife, and passionate love scenes you will not regret picking up "A Devil's Touch". DeVere has finally come into his own with the lovely, while a little wary Diana who is very much pregnant.Oh did I mention a bit of misunderstanding. I loved it! A must read for anyone who has been following the DeVere series, enjoy Georgian era romance,HEA endings, and heart pounding passion. Ms. Vane has done it again. She is a wonderful storyteller whose characters are charming, and engaging and her plots are interesting. Received for an honest review from the author.

Victoria Vane did it for me again. I loved it that the characters are still well and truly in love. As usual lots of laughs as I could really see how DeVere struggled not to touch his lovely wife thinking it would hurt the baby. When his mate told him otherwise, I swear DeVere could have done some serious bodily hard to the physician. I was actually expecting DeVere to go confront the man. Overall a great story! I will surely keep my eye out for the next one.
