Martin attempts to analogize the process of restoring Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper" to the restoration of the human soul using Benedictine spirituality. I like the idea, but I wish he had made the comparisons stronger and more explicit. As a general presentation of Benedictine methods, however, this book is a great primer.

A book designed for those lay people who want to live spiritually every day, every hour, every minute. Fr. Martin presents a version of St. Benedict's twelve steps of humility for everyday life (without becoming a monk or a nun). He gives practices and provides examples from his own life. Want to find the deeper you, the Restoration Project might just help!

Not rating as I don’t remember enough of what I did read of this book to rate it, and I didn’t finish it anyway.

I have friends who enjoyed this book, and one friend who loved it. For whatever reason I couldn’t get into it...despite being in a group inspired by it. Oh well. The group is a blessing in my life.

An odd amalgamation of a commentary on Benedict's rule on humility, a spiritual memoir about living into that humility, and a call to the members of the church to adopt such humility in furthering our discipleship.

I am not going to rate this yet, because it is a book for use with a Discipleship group at church, and I just wanted to get a feel for the expectations before the group starts. I know we'll be going into more depth with this later, but I'm not sure if it is to be a handbook or merely an introduction. Anyway, it is a book about following the Benedictine Rule of Life, introducing each of the steps.
