Faith is a full time writer who finally hired a housekeeper when the dust bunnies multiplied, She bakes homemade bread and loves to cook.

Faith researches in great detail, and tries most everything her characters do. Research led to her life’s passions – jewelry making, orchids, Japanese maples, bones, travel, white-water kayaking, and writing.

Faith loves orchids. Her favorite time of year is when several are blooming. Pictures can be seen at her FaceBook page. And yes, she collects bones and skulls. She has a fox, cat, dog, cow skull, goat, a boar skull, a deer skull, (that is, unfortunately, falling apart) and the jawbone of an ass. Her prize skull is a mountain lion (legally purchased from a US tannery) hit by a car in the wild.

Her latest love is Japanese maples, and she has managed to collect over thirty.

She and her husband RV, traveling to whitewater rivers to kayak all over the Southeast. Whitewater Kayaking is her very favorite sport, discovered when she was researching her (Gwen Hunter) mystery book, Rapid Descent. She took a lesson and—after a bout of panic attacks from fear of being upside down trapped in a boat—discovered she loved the sport.

Under other pen names, notably, Gwen Hunter, she writes action adventure, mysteries, and thrillers. As Gwen, she is a winner of the WH Smith Literary Award for Fresh Talent in 1995 in the UK, and won a Romantic Times Reviewers Choice Award in 2008. The events of this story are often mentioned in the first couple of books. It was a nice story and adds much needed background to Jane's relationship with the Truebloods. I love the instant protectiveness Beast feels towards Angie and it kind of makes me wish for a Jane baby all her own.

The story of the event that changed Jane and Molly's relationship from a new, tentative friendship to an undying one.

When Molly doesn't shown up for her shift at her family's cafe, Jane feels compelled to check on her. She knows that something is terribly wrong even before she has reached Molly's house that has a dark magical cloud hovering over it.

Short but very engaging story that gives an extra dimension to Jane and Molly's friendship - I am looking forward to reading more about them in future books.

The series continues with another short story, Haints.

** Read in Cat Tales.

— Kits #0.5

Aww. This one hit me in all the right places. We get to meet Molly and her family and the birth of Molly and Jane’s friendship. I do love a good friendship starter.

Something witchy is happening at Molly’s place and the Beast knows that a Kit is in trouble and needs help. This incident was mentioned in Skinwalker briefly and I was curious to learn a little more on how Molly and Jane’s friendship was sealed for life.

Kits was a sweet and enjoyable read. Fans will like seeing how Molly and Jane become friends.

Jane's witch friend, Molly, has a daughter who manifests very powerful magic too early. Jane saves her from the dangerous situation, and solidifies her friendship with Molly and her family.

Pre-warning if you don't read the other 7 books in this series you may be lost... (This reviewer managed to read them all in a few days to give an accurate review of this book. The original post was due on Friday, September 26th but...) This is an overview review of the series as well as this book.

Hold on to your seats this is a fast paced action packed emotional book (The entire series was but that is another thing...) that was kind of surprised by. If you like Patricia Brigg's Mercy Thompson series or Jaz Parks series by Jennifer Rardin then I would recommend this one seems to have some of the themes reminded me of those series. Overall this is one I will be looking for others by the author.

Some of the books in this series were better than others...This series has so many twists and turn some expect while others HOLY TOLEDOs aren't.

I really can't very much such, since my review will be a spoiler... Fun, action packed Urban Fantasy that was overall an entertaining one to read. The average rating for all 8 books in this series 4stars.

Watch out, have stakes & will travel for justice (& protection) to be served...

KITS hits me in ALL the FEELS.

1. Beast and kits always plays havoc with my emotions. It's so fierce and so pure and so . . . single-minded. Nothing is more important than kits. *rubs fist over heart*

2. The birth of Molly and Jane's friendship:

I pulled on my socks and carried my boots into what was left of Molly’s house. We had tea. We shared secrets. Weirdly, Molly held my hand while we talked, as if protecting something fragile or sealing something precious. Even more weirdly, I let her. I think that, for the first time in my life, I had a real friend.

I may have cried. A lot.

Kits is an audio short story from the Jane Yellowrock series written by Faith Hunter and read by Khristine Hvam. It takes place some time before the first novel, Skinwalker and centers on Molly Trueblood. It was first uploaded on her website and later collected in the Cat Tales anthology.

Kits centers on Molly Trueblood and her friendship with Jane Yellowrock. When Molly Everhart Trueblood does not show up for her shift at Seven Sassy Sisters Herb Shop and Café, Jane Yellowrock goes to the house to check on her. There Jane discovers a black cloud of wild, out of control magic attacking the small home. It is a story that was mentioned in the earlier installments of the core series.

Kits is written rather well. It is rather nice to read the story between Jane Yellowrock and Molly Trueblood that was mentioned in the first couple of installments of the core series. This moment was stated in passing, but it was rather wonderful to see how Jane Yellowrock and the Trueblood Family become good friends.

All in all, Kits is a well written, but more importantly, well portrayed short story about the beginnings of a wonderful friendship between Jane Yellowrock and Molly Trueblood.

The description says it all. The audiobook gets a little confusing when Jane Yellowrock approaches the house, but that is probably because I had to think about what was happening and who "Kit" was. I actually had to listen to the audiobook twice and pay close attention, but it was worth it.

My basic problem is that I haven't read any the books in this series, only the short stories available through Audible-Plus.

Any modesty issues? None that I recall.

I have read this short story/audiobook twice, so it seems reasonable to assume I might read it again.

I always liked this story! Sure, I like almost everything witchy, especially in this world, but this story goes so much deeper. It cements the relationship between Jane and Molly, and Jane and Angie, and Beast and Angie. It's a heartwarming story all around, and it makes me happy on so many levels!

Now we are getting closer to the time of the first full novel. This story is the beginning of Molly and Jane's friendship. I liked it a lot. Since Molly is only a voice on the phone in Skinwalker, I was glad to meet her and get to know her and her family better.

I literally have no idea what this book was about. However, I only just found out it was an accompanying story to the whole series. It would probably help if I read the series first.

Beast really is the star of this book! It really shows how Jane came to be such amazing friends with Molly but Beast is the heroine in this one. I would love to see more interactions between Beast/Jane and Molly's daughter in the future. I loved this tale my only complaint is it is too short.
