Her Rogue Mage novels—Bloodring, Seraphs, Host, and the RPG Rogue Mage—feature Thorn St. Croix, a stone mage in a post-apocalyptic alternate reality.

Faith is a full time writer who finally hired a housekeeper when the dust bunnies multiplied, She bakes homemade bread and loves to cook.

Faith researches in great detail, and tries most everything her characters do. Research led to her life’s passions – jewelry making, orchids, Japanese maples, bones, travel, white-water kayaking, and writing.

Faith loves orchids. Her favorite time of year is when several are blooming. Pictures can be seen at her FaceBook page. And yes, she collects bones and skulls. She has a fox, cat, dog, cow skull, goat, a boar skull, a deer skull, (that is, unfortunately, falling apart) and the jawbone of an ass. Her prize skull is a mountain lion (legally purchased from a US tannery) hit by a car in the wild.

Her latest love is Japanese maples, and she has managed to collect over thirty.

She and her husband RV, traveling to whitewater rivers to kayak all over the Southeast. Whitewater Kayaking is her very favorite sport, discovered when she was researching her (Gwen Hunter) mystery book, Rapid Descent. She took a lesson and—after a bout of panic attacks from fear of being upside down trapped in a boat—discovered she loved the sport.

Under other pen names, notably, Gwen Hunter, she writes action adventure, mysteries, and thrillers. As Gwen, she is a winner of the WH Smith Literary Award for Fresh Talent in 1995 in the UK, and won a Romantic Times Reviewers Choice Award in 2008. As Faith, her books have been on the New York Times and USA Today Bestseller lists, been nominated for various awards and won an Audie Award with Khristine Hvam, among other awards. Short and to the point, this story is precisely what the blurb says. There are no surprises but it makes Bruiser more likeable. From all the men currently in Jane's life he holds the top position in my eyes and some of his thoughts here helped cement that. Still I would rather Jane finds someone totally new to roll in the hay with.

First Sight
A Jane Yellowrock Story
By: Faith Hunter
Narrated by: Khristine Hvam
A bit disappointed that this isn't even a full short story it's a small piece of a short story!
Narration was good with what little there was!

So far, I’m in George’s camp. Rick has been annoying and Leo is, well, Leo. Granted, Jane could do better than these three, but based on what little I’ve read, I’m rooting for George.

Oh, here is my man Bruiser!
I am an unapologetic fan of George and this shortie is told from his pov and covers his first encounter with Jane.
She kicked his ass, he was charmed. ;)

Too short to rate it on basis that would give much credence to it, but if you are fan of George, you'll enjoy this little addition.

I'm currently going through Jane Yellowrock withdrawal, so when I found the audible version of this novella on sale, I decided to purchase it.

As usual, Khristine Hvam does an excellent job bringing the characters, both women AND men, to life.

Who knew that kicking men's asses would be the way to their hearts - and ... *other* body parts! ;-)

When it comes to Bruiser (and Leo) I don't mind insta-lust one bit. I'd love to listen to more stories from Bruiser's POV.

First Sight might only be 8 minutes long, but it was 8 really enjoyable minutes;-)

I found this micro short story on Audible and I loved it. Bruiser tells the story of his meeting Jane Yellowrock for the first time. Jane kicked his ass. It's sexy and he loved it.

A short scene from Bruiser's point of view, depicting how he first met, Jane.

His description of her is quite vivid and conjured a very clear image of what she looked like to him, and it was interesting getting some insight into his first impressions of her both as a fighter and as a woman.

Chronologically the series continues with the second book, Blood Cross, but I've got a few short stories to get caught up on before getting to it, starting with Snafu (included in the Black Water anthology) next.

First Sight is an audio short story from the Jane Yellowrock series written by Faith Hunter and read by Khristine Hvam. It takes place during the events of the first novel, Skinwalker, and centers on the first meeting between Jane Yellowrock, Leo Pellissier, and George "Bruiser" Dumas told from the perspective of George Dumas. It is first written and collected in The Jane Yellowrock World Companion.

First Sight revisits a scene where George "Bruiser" Dumas first met Jane Yellowrock with Leo Pellissier. It is interesting to read the scene from his point of view and his first impressions of Jane Yellowrock, not as a Skinwalker, but a beautiful woman. Reading this re-visitation of this scene also helped to further explain the relationship between himself and Leo Pellissier. The potency of the blood bond between vampire and servant is incredibly strong, and learning about it from the point of view of one who is bonded was incredibly insightful.

First Sight is written and narrated rather well. It is a short story that puts a pivotal scene from a different and unique perspective.

All in all, First Sight is a well written, but more importantly, it expanded the wonderful world that is the Jane Yellowrock universe.

One of the things I love about the Jane Yellowrock series is reading the books from the dual persona of Jane and her cat for, Beast. It’s always a rollicking fun ride. However, I’ve always wondered what the many of the other supporting characters point of views would be. Well, “First Sight” is George Dumas, “Bruisers,” impressions when he first meets Jane for the first time.

It was not what I expected but quite enjoyable nonetheless. My one and only complaint is that the story was way too short. Such a tease Ms, Hunter.

A brief short story where George aka Bruiser sees Jane Yellowrock for the first time.

The narrator is really good. Her ability to switch between accents is awesome.

While we got to see an encounter from Bruiser's point of view, it didn't really change my opinion of him, or make me feel like I learned anything new. Unnecessary to the series.

Just a short little interlude giving us Bruiser's POV of his and Leo's first meeting with Jane. I enjoyed it but it did nothing to further the series.
