Great

I found this a really good book. Fanny is an amazing character. She wants to follow her mother's wishes and marry well but with no dowry it's difficult to tempt someone to propose to her until she meets Lord Fenton. The chemistry between them is evident from the start but when he offers to make her his mistress instead of his wife she falls apart. Her good friend the Earl of Quimby comes up with a plan to help her and possibly her family. Can Lord Fenton do the right thing?

The author does the narration and so it's pretty awful. One step up from libravox. On top of it, her accent is South African and so the entire time I kept thinking it was off and then remind myself that it's just the narrator's natural accent not a bad British accent!
The book was a bit of a romp ( good thing) but not OTT.

The sacrificial lamb

Fanny has know that the family's hopes for financial salvation lay on her shoulders for quite some time, but her mother's choice for a husband, an older, disgusting, awful smelling lord, is asking too much. Her desire to save herself from a life of dread has her slipping out to meet her current choice, only to learn he is promised to another and wants Fanny for his mistress! But when Fanny rises to flee, she slips in her evening slippers, preparing for a painful landing, until strong arms wrap around her and save her.
She doesn't know his name and his face is covered with a mask to go with his pirate costume. He puts her in a hackney cab to deliver her home, leaving her wondering if she'll ever see him again. Her mother may still force her to marry the grotesque lord!
That's only the start of a madcap adventure that will keep you entertained from start to finish.

Rake's Honour by Beverley Oakley is an entertaining historical romance. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. Oakley has delivered a well-written book. The characters are varied, some you love, some you hate and some you want to shake some sense into. Fanny and Fenton's story is full of drama, humor and sizzle. I enjoyed reading Rake's Honour and look forward to reading more from Beverley Oakley in the future. Rake's Honour is book 1 of the Scandalous Miss Brightwell Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I voluntarily read a complimentary copy of this book that I received from Instafreebie.

This book is about Fanny Brightwell. Fanny must marry to save her family and they are forcing her to marry Lord Slyther. Fanny makes a deal if she can secure a marriage with a wealthy and titled gentlemen before the season closes, she can break her brotrothal. This book is full of misconceptions, listening to gossip and a truly disgusting Lord. The plot is well planned and the story well written. There were times I was truly disappointed in the hero, but Fanny never let me down. She hung in there regardless of her situation. Yeah!!

Although I enjoyed this book I csnt say I liked any of the main characters, the hero was not consistent and the heroine although supposed to be an innocent fell far to easily and was manipulative in the extreame. Also her behaviour of dampening her gown is not the actions of a debutante, so again not what I would have expected. I will probably read the next in the series to see if they improve.

Fanny Finds A Way

I love historical romances, and I enjoyed this book. I did not like how easily Lord Fenton believed the lies about Fanny. I also disliked Fanny's mother. She did not care about her daughter. She wanted her to marry wealth, and her feelings did not matter. Never fear; Fanny does find a way.

A triumphant start to the series

This is a triumphantly written start to what promises to be a great series. The plot is full of emotional twists and turns, with characters that are well thought out and have the determination to achieve their goals. This is a great book that will suit anybody who loves steamy historical romances.

A bit too much of a silly romp for me. I didn't find the hero & heroine very likeable, they are both fools - Fanny, the "innocent" vamp, & Fenton, the rake without a clue -; & as for Lady Brightwell & Lord Slyther, ugh! There is fun & amusement, which I'm sure many will enjoy, but it strays too far from the Regency path for me to enjoy it very much.

Sweet love

I read this book in two days. It was a super fast easy read. I actually enjoyed the authors word use as their was a few I needed to look up. I enjoyed the fact that author began to weave the characters for her next books inside of her first story.
The story is about genuine love that goes wrong when men tend to not use their brain. I hope you enjoy the book!

EXCELLENT REGENCY ROMANCE

We could not believe we had gotten to the end of this story. It is very well-written and fast paced, and it just flows right into the ending. Thank you for a highly entertaining read, Danny and Debbie Scott.

It was barely okay. Glad it was not too long. I didn't particularly like Fannie or her sister nor her brother. I decisively dislike her mother. Fenton was not decisive enough. As a male lead, I found him lacking. On to the next installment.

Enjoyable

I liked the major characters and scenes, however the society of that time was disgusting in the methods of gossip they used to defame someone.

cute short story

Cute Novella. The writing style is definitely different from what I am used to, but I enjoyed it nevertheless. So much drama and angst wrapped in a short story!

Let's get right to it, shall we? Fanny Brightwell finds herself betrothed to and old goat in order to save her family from poverty. The man is fat, with putrid breath but worst of all horny. He looks at her like his own personal whore, checking out her assets at his leisure. He wants to wed her immediately but she attempts to stall, " The day after that, then- and that's as long as I'm prepared to wait. The anticipation of my Magnificent Member to feel the smooth, slippery wetness of your caverns of delight, Miss Brightwell, can be put on hold no longer."

It just makes your skin crawl because the man cannot even attend events for his gout bothers him and keeps him to his bed. I didn't even want to think of those images. Don't worry there is hope for the h on the night prior to this turn of events she has met the dashing Felix Linley, Lord Fenton. The way they meet is quite scandalous and I did feel Fanny was a bit too generous with the liberties she so freely gave. I do not mean she is a maiden no more but she did put the cart before the horse and with such prospects of her future one can hardly be too harsh on her.

Her mother is horrible, showing cold, calculating scheming to better her future not her daughters. Fanny biggest impediment is Bramley. He was an old suitor that Fanny turned down and he resents her for it. So much that when he sees how Fanny and Fenton look at each other he sets about to break that possibility up. I will not go into detail but let this be a lesson for all you future men that if you doubt your ladies true feelings then ask her because Fanny had fun paying Felix back for his lack of trust.

Oh let there be no doubt what he did was a slap in the face but than one could argue she did give very easily either way it was hilarious when Fanny said, " Now I have the best of both worlds. I shall be duchess rather than viscountess. " The picture of the look on his face as she went on and the seriousness to it all just cracked me up. There obviously is sex involved along with slight perversion from an old coot. LOL. Enjoy!
