Before twins, Cora and Viola, can fulfill the destiny that fate has laid out for them, Angelica and Thomas must overcome the obstacles that stand in the way of their mating.
They’d met as young children and were pulled together then but fate kept them apart for years even though they attended the same schools all of their lives. With their parents hating each other and having forbidden them to even talk to each other, it’s a shock when they find out that destiny has chosen them to be together. How do they overcome the war between each of their parents to make their relationship work or will they eventually cave to the pressure and walk away?
Born in Lexington, KY, reading has been a part of Cheryl's life since before she can remember. Growing up in Akron, OH, the library was always her favorite place to hang out after school, during the weekends and through vacations.
It was only natural that after telling stories to her four children as they've gotten older, that she progressed into becoming an indie author and sharing stories on a larger scale.
Currently, she's a happily married, stay at home mother of two sons and two daughters on the central coast of California.
This is a YA novel. We meet Angelica and Thomas, they can not talk to each other, we do not know why (when you read the book you will lnow the reason). Their families have an issue. But their bound is so strong that they can not let it pass. Destiny has chosen them to be together. They will get to know the other, and a couple of months after they accepted their bound and are together the storm will originate. Not everyone is happy about them together. One night everything will change.
It was a good story, it is not a topic that we read every day, so it was refreshing. The book is an easy reading, there are lot of things we are not told, things that are only mentioned, like all the time Thomas spends with Angelica. They have only kissed one time, and then after two years.....There was a gap. It is a great book by the author. I would like to read Cora and Viola´s books.
This first book by Ms Davis shows a talent for grabbing the reader from the first few paragraphs. While YA stories are not usually my preference I was pleasantly surprised reading "Destiny Begins". I look forward to reading more about Cora and Viola, twins of a long-ago prophecy, as they learn who they really are and their place in their race's destiny.
This is a great start to the series. We get to see how Cora and Viola's parents come together. An incredible start to an amazing story and I can't wait to get started.
Angelica has been forbidden by her family to even so much as look at Thomas and his family gave him a similar rule. The two are drawn together and on a chance touch they find out they are mates. They keep it hidden to avoid the wrath of their families but things don' stay hidden forever. They find both support and hostility and have to be careful about who they trust.
The first half was pretty good but the second half was just a rush of information and read more like an outline...with more detail to come later. You don't really find out what they actually are, what this whole prophecy business is about...or really anything that the story revolves around. So, for me, it just kind of fell flat.
This read more like a middle school romance than YA if there is such a thing. I liked the premise, but ended up skimming drawn-out emotional descriptions several times. I would have much preferred more on what these people actually were, their histories, something.
So this could have been a few books to maybe bulk it out and explain things or as this is a prequel, maybe 300+ pages... 115 pages or whatever it is, it just isn't enough to have a romance, a family, a tragedy etc...
