Ups and downs with this Post-Apocalyptic Erotic Romance.

It felt good to be bad. Everything in her world was too restricted and confining in her opinion. Life here seemed freer, without shame, guilt, judgement, or censorship. To live such a life was too foreign for her thoughts, but in her dreams, she had longed for a life like this.
This was an amazingly detailed and fascinating set up - the sociology and political structures were well crafted and create an intriguing backdrop for the Psychic Menage Series.

I will absolutely continue with this series. I think Houston Havens has created enormous potential in this world, and I'm excited to find out what happens next!

Sinful Surrender takes place on a ruined Earth in the year 4860.

Before the apocalypse, the wealthiest and most powerful citizens created secret underground cities, leaving the common people to die off or adapt to the ruined surface of the planet...

The new Underground Government is oppressive and strict - the population they control, known as "dirt dwellers" have no idea of the extent of the evil their rulers are capable of...

Nearly seven hundred years after the cataclysm, the Underground Government is ready to take back the surface of the earth... By Force if necessary.

Airbornes are those humans who stayed above ground and adapted to earth after the blast... They've been defending themselves against the Underground Government for over five hundred years - germ warfare, cyborg attacks, and mass genocide are a constant threat.

FAY
What kind of torture's this? The best kind. The kind she couldn't resist.
Fay has been working as a Psychic Spy for the corrupt Dirt Dweller Government. Upon discovering a shocking secret, Fay makes the decision to escape the underground and venture out into the open Earth - She is seeking the truth about the underhanded practices of her supposedly benevolent government.

She plans to obtain proof of her government's corruption and return to the dirt dwellers as a whistle blower. She steals a spacecraft and narrowly escapes the tunnels before being shot out of the sky by the very people she's been spying for her entire life.

She's bruised, shaken, and alone on the surface of an unfamiliar Earth.

The Airborne brothers who come to her aid might seem kind and handsome, but they are still her enemy. Fay is taken back to a secret Airborne City where she must prove that she is not a threat.

The Abán Brothers
"...I think you like me. Might even adore me."
"Abhor you, did you say? Yes, you might be right."
Arlo - The Artist & Poet falls in love with Fay instantly...
Drakker - The scientist wins Fay over with his Dominance...
Logan - The Airborne Leader doesn't trust Fay at all...

In a world were females have been killed off by their enemy as population control, Airbornes have taken to a polyandrous lifestyle - it is customary for an entire group of brothers to take and share a single wife.

The two youngest Abán Brothers are smitten with Fay. Unfortunately the eldest Abán (who is also leader of the Airbornes) refuses to trust this spy who has wandered into their lives...

In the kink department:
Lots of hot sexual situations,
Voyeurism,
Exhibitionism,
Light D/s themes,
Anal Play,
Anal Sex,
Bondage,
Threesomes,
and a MMFM scene that will knock your socks off!

With Sinful Surrender, we only saw the tip of the iceberg:
- We still have an entire society of Fae descendants to explore
- There's a group Star Travelers to learn more about
- We haven't encountered the mutants of this world yet
- There are still unanswered questions about Fay's heritage
...there's so much left to explore in this version of Earth!

I did have a few hang-ups with this book, but they were subjective to my own experience, so I'll let you decide for yourself...

1. "Boobies" is an absurdly juvenile term to be used in the context of an erotic encounter... and it was used more than once... One wouldn't refer to male genitalia as a "Weenie" if the character was about to shove it into a woman's willing, wet pussy, so why use the word Boobies?

There were a few other pieces of questionable sexual innuendo, but I was able to pass those off as pseudo-futuristic terminology...

"Boobies" however, could not be overlooked...

2. Character Degeneration: Fay Avalon started out as a badass - she literally stole a spacecraft and escaped her tyrannical government in search of proof of the genocide they were perpetuating... She was a spy who suffered interrogation tactics, she was ostracized, and faced an upheaval of everything she'd ever known. For the majority of the book, Fay endured all of her hardships with the grace of a warrior...

Toward the end of the book she dissolved into an angst-ridden child, throwing hissy-fits and hiding away from the world.

I couldn't connect with her over the cause of her despair, so her behavior was baffling and wholly unnecessary to the plot.

It was shocking and a little devastating to see a character develop such a shitty attitude so suddenly. Her personality transplant soured my enjoyment of the entire book, and did so at the pivotal "we're almost at the end" moment. It definitely affected my rating.

***I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review***

Astro-projection is Fay Avalon's specialty. As a spy for the underground world, Dirt Dwellers, she is determined to find the facts about the New World Moles, people living above ground's, attack on her people. The plans she finds in the hands of Logan, the leader of the ruthless New World Moles group, does not mesh with the facts as she knows it. She learns perhaps she isn't the good guy but rather the bad guy. Fay rises out of the tunnels to find out what is going on.

There are some good concepts in this story. Overall though, it was difficult for me to read. The characters are juvenile in behaviour. The ham handed plot devices make a reader either wince or roll their eyes. It's as if Ms. Havens came up with several ideas and forced them to work with each other. Let's start with the terminology first. Why are the ones who live above ground called moles? Moles are animals who live below ground almost all the time and don't see light. Dirt Dwellers is odd because it could imply someone living in the dirt, hence below ground, but when compared to a mole, it would make more sense it is above ground. Nit-picky item aside, the characters were melodramatic.

From a world building perspective, the dsytopian world Ms. Havens' created comes across as a bad Syfy movie. She throws in Fae, aliens and humans making it a clutter of people. The way the world came is a concept I thought was fine, just explain in a clunky manner. Perhaps it's Ms. Havens' writing voice that just doesn't do it for me.

The characters, I mentioned are juvenile because they behave in extremes. Their dialog is cheesy. The interaction is awkward. The sex is funny. The sex taboo in this story is an amusing one and I liked. To learn that Fay's world censures sex and why, it is plausible. Fay's introduction to sex including kinky sex is fine. Fay getting it on with all the men could be erotic for some readers. It didn't do it for me. The light BDSM was kinky fun mixed with multiple men pleasing one insatiable female.

The ending felt rushed to me. Fay's ordeal while understandable didn't match up to her earlier actions. Her behaviour felt like another contrived plot device for the happily ever ending. I did think a bit less of her especially after learning her friend fared no better. This book is for dystopian fanatics who also enjoy kinky mfmm sex.

First, let me say that I have received this book for my honest thoughts and that is what you are going to get.

Secondly, if you classify this book as a sci-fi story, I will tell you I am not a religious reader of sci-fi stories…. But for me to read this book and not want to put it down must mean something. And lastly, the blurb’s tag line – Can one woman satisfy the diverse desires of three men – caught my attention! What can I say – I am a smutty hussy after all :)

After reading the blub of the story, I thought I was in for a reading I would not understand because I am normally not a reader of sci-fi, post-apocalyptic and dystopian themed stories but I have to say that Ms. Havens’ does a hell’va job at grabbing your attention and not letting go… not even when you come to the last page. This story rocked my world – above and under ground! Her attention to detail is very descriptive and rich in detail. Ms. Havens makes you feel like you are literally dropped in the story and submersed in the action that is going around Fay and the men.

Ms. Houston’s creativity in the world in which she created is amazing. The characters are diverse, intelligent, loyal and stubborn to a point. The storyline is riveting and nerve-racking. She will put you in a world and will make you feel like you are the one on the run!

Fay, a Dirt Deweller, is a woman on a mission. It’s just not the mission her government wanted her to be on. She is a trained spy, a very good spy that her government has fed her missions to seek and destroy their enemy – the Airborne people. But what she learns on her last mission threatens to tear her allegiance up from the government she swore to protect and serve. Being the independent woman she is, she struck out on her own to discover what the real truth is…. But was she prepared for the real truth she was about to discover…

Three men, Arlo, Drakker and Logan… Three brothers bound to protect and serve their people. Their number one enemy is the Dirt Dewellers and at all cost, they will protect their women, children and each other from those people. Each brother has their own personality and are adorable in their own way… Arlo is my hopeless romantic. Drakker is my naughty man… domineering and defender to the end… And there is Logan… He is my alpha man, protector at all cost but he has a side of him that is just yum. Are these three men ready for one woman to rock their world to its core…Are they ready to ban together with the enemy in order to save what they know in their heart is right….

This story is awesome. From page one to the last, Ms. Houston will keep you enthralled with her words and her men… And one woman will show you what brave really means. The heat level in this book is off the charts with some loving that is quite unique to story. I promise you might even google a few things to try in your own bedroom.

There is one scene that seems to be the talk of the book – the interrogation scene…. If you make it this far, please continue to read because all I can say is that IN NO WAY does rape happen. If you don’t know about this discussion, then just continue to read the book as normal… If you have heard of this, please read for yourself to find out. I promise you won’t be disappointed!

And I will leave you with this thought… Can one woman satisfy the diverse desires of three men… Step into Ms. Havens’ world to discover what the answer to that question is….

Holy shit when does the next book come out!?! Normally I’m not a fan of cliffhangers but I figured there would be one for Chandra’s story before I even finished the book… and then I finished it and was like “OMG, please let the next one be out!” Nope it isn’t, sad day, but when I will be buying it the day it comes out (which I hope is soon!).

Fay is a very cool character. She can mind travel and while doing it notices things aren’t as the UG (underground Government) say it is. Being the obstinate and stubborn woman she is, she goes on a fact finding mission. I also think she secretly hope to find her own ménage! Lol I love how she opened up to sex pretty quickly even when her mind said it was immoral her body wouldn’t let her give the men up.

Arlo is a romantic and so cute. Though I did think him to be the most naïve of the brothers. He wouldn’t even entertain the idea that she could be a spy until she admitted she was. Drakker is the alpha male who is into a little light BDSM. That fit his character perfectly but he oozed this “Dom” quality. I would take his idea of interrogation anyway. lol Logan was my favorite and I think it was because I know the harder they resist the harder they fall at the end. He fought his feelings in the beginning but when Fay got hurt I could see his act.

Wow talk about hot! These character radiate sexual tension and then when they finally come together it is explosive! I like that all three of the men had different needs. Arlo was the most “vanilla” but I say that as a general term because a ménage is far from vanilla. Lol Drakker is the dominant one who enjoys bondage while Logan is the voyeur. It made the sex scenes have a different depth than other books I read.

Houston Havens made a fan for life with me. I will be adding her to my must-buy list. Sinful Surrender is amazing and it isn’t just because of the hotness. The plot was full of depth and pulled me right in. She took time to set up “her world” and you could tell because she described everything so well.

The year is 4860 AD. In the twenty-second century a prophecy of the world’s end, from the sixteenth century, came true. The planet Nibiru passed by the earth causing devastating changes to earth eliminating the majority of the population. Before the prophecy came to fruition, top government officials, the heads of the major religions, a chosen few elite and some of the filthy rich secretly built underground cities two and a half miles beneath the earth’s surface. Only a chosen few were invited to live in this luxurious underground world and are referred to as Dirt Dwellers.

The rest of the population was left on the surface to succumb to the effects of the prophecy, which were devastating. Those that did live, called Airbornes, were targeted by the Dirt Dwellers to destroy the expendable, or unworthy. Women and children were targeted hardest in order to wipe out future Airbornes. These genocide attacks didn’t always kill, but caused infections, sterilizations and genetic mutations.

Because of the lack of women, the men were forced to share a wife for the survival of their race. Not only were they able to survive, but were able to thrive thanks to the help of other races of survivors and currently have the technology equivalent to the nineteenth century. Humanoid aliens and even Fae are just a few of the new races that have emerged since the prophecy.

Back to the present, the Dirt Dwellers have spies called Mind Travelers, gifted psychic individuals who can project their vision to view anything, past, present or future, while remaining in their body. Fay Avalon is one of these Mind Travelers and she has been tasked with spying on the leader of the Airbornes.

However, Fay uncovers two ugly truths about her Dirt Dwellers government that disturbs her enough to venture above ground to find the physical proof and join with the rebel group the Freedom Fighters to begin a revolution. And those truths are, one: The government has lied to the Dirt Dwellers people about ever living above ground and leaving millions of people to die, and two: the Dirt Dwellers are moving back to the earth’s surface but are planning to eliminate the Airbornes by any and every means necessary first and take over their resources.

I felt it important to include part of the back story of the book because I want readers to know that this is not just a ménage book with lots of sex in it. There is a lot of depth and history that’s needed to understand what is happening in the book.

I was very surprised when I started reading the book and discovering the very detailed beginning about the prophecy, the different races of survivors and some of the weapons used. The plot is intricately designed and well-planned. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about this complicated new world caused by the catastrophic prophecy.

Fay is one lucky woman! She has not one, not two, but THREE strapping gorgeous men who want to claim her as their wife. Establishing a relationship during all this turmoil was difficult but Fay finally accepted her desire claim the brothers with three distinct personalities that has sated all of Fay’s hidden desires: Arlo, the romantic, Drakker, the alpha male and super freak, and Logan, the logical leader. Fay and the Abán brothers steam up the pages with their dark words of passion and sensual foreplay. There were many times I had to fan myself from all the naughty times in the story. There is a cliffhanger at the end but it’s not really a cliffhanger per se as it is a bridge to the next book.

Overall, the story is well-written, brilliantly plotted and polished. I was completely blown away by the story and the writing. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys sci-fi/fantasy and erotica reads. You will not be disappointed picking up this exciting, action-packed read!

4.5 stars Fantasy, Ménage, Post-Apocalyptic, Dystopian, Erotic Romance, light BDSM

cover 5 stars

Wow! I wouldn't even need to read the blurb to buy this book in a book store. Looking at this cover, I would know all.
Menage, yeah!
I love the color used for the cover.

Summary

It's 4860 A.D. After the apocalypse, different species survided. Each trying to build a new life for themselves. One trying to dominate and conquer them all.
Fay Avalon is spy running from her government that falls on enemy territory. The problem is, the enemy doesn't seem so barbaric as she believed. In fact the enemy territory feels almost like paradise.
Seaching for the truth, Fay finds more. Hapiness! Will her government let her be happy? Will the enemy ever trust her?

characters 4 stars

The brothers: Each one is a side of a prism, together they are the perfect mate. Lucky for Fay they come in a bonus package. One is a romantic, one is a Dom, one is a protector. They are all hot!

Fay: I loved her for almost the entire book. She was brave, smart,a warrior of sorts, until she decided to have a big TSTL moment. She did got rid of it, thanks, but it cause me one star.

secondary characters: I love Chandra and I think book 2 is going to be amazing.

I did relate, connect, undestood and loved them all.

plot 5 stars

Ms. Havens did it all. Yes! She created a wondefully detailed world, in this futuristic, post-apocalyptic, dystopian book, within a menage erotic romance. This is what I would call perfection. The union of 2 things that I love, a wonderful plot with steamy love story. :)

Even though it has this new world and several new "species" for us to understand, it was so well explained that it was easy to follow. It's a fast-paced plot, that keep me guessing all the time and left me wanting more!
It's fantasy! It's dystopian, and so believable, for that world.

heat 5 stars

The scenes were nicely described, with the perfect amount of steam. They did not dominate the story as it usually happens in menage books, they added to plot and to the reader's enjoyment.
Bravo!

freshness 5 stars

This was so so so new, so so so original, that's unbelievable. Ms. Havens world is amazing!

editing 5 stars

I didn't have any major problem with the book.

Impressions and opinion

I loved it! I'm a huge fan of menage books, and I know they usually are more erotica, with the sex scenes dominating the story. I have no problem with that. :) I like smut in my reads.
But this book was all that and MORE. Yes! It offer us steamy scenes in this wonderfully created world.
So much history in this plot, so many real life concerns. Wow! It blew my mind, how the author was able to mixed it all together in this ONE book.
The ending was perfect and also it told us where book two will begin.

I would read book 2 today, if it was out yet. Now I'm going to "stalk" the writer, to learn, when I'm going to read the next one.

If you like fantasy with smut, this is for you!

Once in a while, a book draws you so deeply and completely into it that when you finish and return to your reality, a feeling of loss stays with you. You find yourself thinking about this reality and the people you met, wondering what they would be like if they were real? If you could see and feel and touch the characters with your hands the way you wish....

I am in awe of the creativity, imagination and genius this author has to have. She was able to create not only a physical world with its many layers but the societies that sprung up within those physical boundaries, tied together by a shared (and sometimes hidden) history that impacts all that must happen going forward. She created a current reality so enticing that this reader is eager to return but she also created a history for each facet of her world and has intertwined them in a complex and compelling way. Can the characters discover the truth of their past in order to have a future? This question occasionally runs through my mind as there is a mystery in this story that wants to be solved and teases the reader even when away from the book.

Logan, Drakkar and Arlo came alive to me as I read this book. They became people who's lives I care about. I followed along on their search for the truths they needed to survive. I marveled at the depth of their love for each other as brothers and their ability to understand each other's mind and actions, even preparing what to say when one (predictably) started a conversation about trust, betrayal or Fay. Fay seemed to be the one thing they had difficulty agreeing on, perhaps even the one thing that could drive them apart. No matter what they said or felt, they all knew she was somehow a part of their shared destiny.

I hate reviews with spoilers so I can't say much else other than I LOVED this book, these characters and this interesting world. I want to go back and find out what happens next! I want the next book SOON, please.

I had trouble with this book. I will read just about anything as long as it is written well, but this one threw me a little. I won't go through a full synopsis, but essentially Fay (a Dirt Dwelling Psychic Spy who lives in a man-made city under the Earth's surface) decides to go to the surface to find out what really happened all those years ago to cause the world to change. She wrecks her ship (that she stole)and is found by Arlo and Drakker, brothers who happen to also be the brothers of Logan (the leader of the "Airborne" people on the Earth's surface). The main characters were pretty bland, and their mannerisms and dialogue didn't make any sense. I mean, this is a race set in the future, the three brothers were raised in a western-like town complete with large belt buckles, cowboy boots, and feathers in their hair. All of this said, one of the guys calls Fay "ma cherie" like some French dude, while the other brother spoke to her in Cherokee. None of it flowed or made sense at all.

It seems one third of the book was the "interrogation" scene where Fay was questioned to see if she was a spy. Fay would confess to all of these things, and then a few pages over the guys would seem surprised when she would confess again. This happened REPEATEDLY! They kept having the same conversation over and over and over again, and the guys would be surprised every time. The love scenes didn't make sense, and were not placed well. They would be running for their lives, and then suddenly stop to have sex. All in all I didn't care about the characters by the end, and skipped over the love scenes because they just didn't make sense. There are some WONDERFUL books out there that have a dystopian, futuristic setting, but this isn't one of them. In my opinion, don't waste your money.

Oh, and as a last note, never is it ever ok to use the word "twat" as a way to describe a woman's parts during a love scene. ESPECIALLY if it is supposed to be a romantic "we are so in love" scene.

So Hot It Sizzles

I loved this book. I will be reading every book this author puts out in this future world she has built. The story centers on a woman who has the ability to see other places and times. she suspects her government may be the bad guys using her to hurt innocent people. In seeking the truth she is captured by the Airborne people who she had been spying on. From this point she meets three very hot alpha brothers who lead the Airborne people. Their interrogation of the heroine is the hottest thing I have ever read. The action and adventure that follow was a page turner that kept me up all night finishing this book.

As the first book in the Psychic Ménage series Ms. Havens has crafted a clever and intricate futuristic story about the aftermath from a catastrophic event that has splintered humans into vastly different groups due to the machinations of an unscrupulous government. The author provides a glossary at the start explaining the different groups that have varying degrees of technology, vastly different beliefs and ways of living, with some being damaged for generations due to the government's genetic manipulations. Each of these groups just want to survive but the most powerful of them all wants to take control of the land as their food and water is running out. These Dirt Dwellers, the people that saved only the best when the event occurred, live below ground, have advanced technology, and have yet another plan in place to introduce a poison to those above ground to aid in their takeover. To help them even further are those individuals able to travel through other dimensions using their minds to discover secrets. One of these spies has become disillusioned with their strict way of life, unsatisfactory sexual encounters that are seen as only for procreation, and the governmental lies that start becoming more numerous in their inhumane methods. Desperate to discover the truth Fay does the unthinkable by defecting above ground to the Airbornes and the one man she's been told is a threat to them all. This reckless plan changes her life dramatically, introducing her to a life of sensual delights courtesy of three very different brothers, but also brands her a traitor and puts a target on her back as the Dirt Dwellers send their Cyborg army after her in the first step in their plan to take control through annihilation.

Fay comes from a very sterile world where sexuality is frowned upon for anything other than procreation. It's a drab world lacking color and freedom. It's reminiscent of Orwell's 1984 in fact. Her introduction to the Airbornes' world is exciting, colorful, and full of sexy men who go out of their way to charm her. Though some of the ruggedness of this world scares her she's more than ready to learn the ways of sex and foreplay and is lucky to have three men happy to teach her. She quickly falls for them and is willing to put her life on the line to keep them safe in numerous action-packed sequences. Fay is a likable and admirable heroine and watching her flourish in this new environment is like seeing a butterfly emerge from the cocoon and made for an entertaining journey.

Arlo, Drakker, and Logan are a delightfully sexy group of men who are drawn to Fay the moment they see her, though they think her a spy at first and have to use some very sexy interrogation techniques to discover the truth. All are strong-willed in their own way with some discernible differences. Arlo is the sweet and sensitive type, very chivalrous and a bit shy at times. Drakker is clearly a Dom and uses that in his interrogation of Fay. Arlo tends to think the worst of him because of his kinky nature but he's equally solicitous of Fay when she needs to be cared for. Logan is their leader and strikes fear amongst the Dirt Dwellers. He's burdened with the protection of his people and it's hardened his heart. It takes a lot to convince him of Fay's wanting to help them but when he does he moves heaven and earth to get her back when she's taken and tortured. Together these men show Fay what it means to be loved. Their sexual encounters are hot and heavy and leave Fay shocked at how long the foreplay lasts!

From start to finish this is an intriguing tale vividly depicting a dystopian world where technology is only for the elite. The lower classes must work together to survive as we're just starting to get a glimpse of these other groups in this book. There's a lot of secondary characters, with some memorable and some getting lost in the shuffle, but they all help propel the action. The sexual interludes are numerous and sometimes overwhelm the story but they're enjoyable in their sweat-inducing sensuality. With its compelling characters and creative storyline this is a series with bright promise and I look forward to the next installment!

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Chelle:
*Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review

--Actual rating 3.5 Skulls

Sinful Surrender is the first book in a new series set in a highly thought out dystopian society. There are multiple groups of people - those living underground, those living in the post-apocalyptic aboveground, those living in space, the meshing of all of the above, etc - each at war with the other in some capacity, and each trying to do what we would all do. Survive. Houston did a wonderful job of outlining each of these in a glossary at the beginning of the book so that when the action started, readers weren't confused and set up the world beautifully. I found this extremely helpful, and the world building was incredibly unique and fascinating.

Our heroine, Fay, is a Dirt Dweller. Living underground in a society where sexuality is illegal for anything other than procreation, and even then, coming only as part of a lottery to curb overcrowding. She's also a mind traveller, and knows, through her psychic travels, that she's not like most Dirt Dwellers. She's a sensual human being. Therefore, when the opportunity arrises for her to leave her home and travel among the Airbornes she jumps at it despite it being forbidden.

Our heroes, Arlo, Drakker, and Logan, are a group of Airborne brothers. Logan is the leader of the Airbornes, and his brothers each are each a compliment to his personality. When Fay is discovered by Arlo and Drakker, she is brought back to their home and interrogated. Not only to find out if she's a spy for the Dirt Dwellers, but also as sort an audition to be their wife.

What did I love about the book? I really enjoyed the range of characters and the vastly unique world building. I also liked the action and the intrigue.

What stopped me from giving it more than 3.5 skulls? A lot of the sexual encounters felt like sex on the page for the sake of hot, erotic, sex on the page to me and actually overshadowed the plot in places. The other thing that bothered me a bit was the quickness with which they all fessed to their feelings. All except Logan. Within one scene of Fay regaining consciousness, Arlo had a thought that he could love her, and before they even had determined if her being there was nefarious, Drakker had asked her to consider being the brothers' wife. And lastly was the terminology. There were some biological terms used in sexy situations that just weren't sexy to me, but, of course, every reader is different...

So, bottom line, would I recommend Sinful Surrender? Yes. If you're looking for a highly erotic and awesomely unique new Sci-Fi, this would be a good one to pick up. It's steamy and the underlying plot thread is compelling. My only suggestion would be to go into it expecting the fact paced 'insta-love' romance and sexual encounters of a para-erotic novella instead of a full length book. I know that other readers will probably absolutely love this book, I just couldn't personally give it more than 3.5 skulls.

Wow! This would make a fantastic Sci-Fi movie! In the beginning, a lot of information is needed to create this strange, unfamiliar world. The author skillfully reveals the history in such a manner that it entices the reader's interest and makes the world come alive. Fay had always lived underground so when she interacts with Airborne people, it is amusing to watch her reaction as she learns about running streams, rattlesnakes and flowers, to name a few. The interrogation of Fay by Drakker was interesting and entertaining. I was also fascinated with the correlation between the Underground Government and today's world regarding Big Brother politics, Nibiru and conspiracy theories like chem trails and the Denver airport. The Great War toward the end was filled with suspense and breathtaking action. Had me biting my nails. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Five Stars.

A great read that will keep you on your toes and very well entertained. The author did an excellent job of describing the characters and each scene. A very hot and steamy romance that keeps you in suspense until the very end, but it's still leaves a slight cliffhanger at the end. I'm definitely ready for the next book in the series. *MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY (18+)* I was given an ARC for my honest review.

This wildly captivating novel blew me away with the vivid and oh-so-real descriptions. Heat and spice vie with action, intrigue, and betrayal in this one of a kind novel. Havens ramps up to a very action packed and suspenseful ending that leaves you wanting & needing to know where the series will go next. This is definitely a SciFi/dystopian tale like no other. The well-developed history of the world puts everything in context. Readers not only know what’s happening now, but how it came to happen. The various factions and organizations are brought forward in a very complex yet revealing manner. I really appreciated the prologue of this novel. It really set things up for me, allowing the story to take off from there.

The variety of different peoples that we meet are not only well-developed as races but are completely unique. Havens highlights the differences between them, but let’s their similarities bring them together. Top this off with a fantastic cast of characters and you have something that you won’t soon be able to forget. The contrasts between the main characters adds a great deal of conflict and depth to the story. It also packs an emotional punch and makes them seem even more real.

This is so much more than just a racy story, even though it definitely is that. I would give anything to be as imaginative and articulate as this author. I definitely can’t wait to read more of her work in the future.

Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

One of the best menage series I've read

I've read so many different menage books and series and I have to say I was kind of getting tired of the theme. When I read the description of this book I was definitely interested. Spies, mind travelers, 3 hot men, love between sworn enemies? It doesn't get better than that.

Fay Avalon is a strong woman with forbidden sexual desires, working as a spy for the Dirt Dwellers. She follows the rules until finding evidence, during a mission, that makes her question everything her government has been telling her and the other Dirt Dwellers.

Logan is the leader of the Airbornes and wants to do what's best for his people. However, in doing so he questions every choice he has to make and almost never goes with his "gut".
Drakkar is basically the commander of the army for the Airbornes. He takes his job seriously, so naturally he would seem the perfect one to enjoy "kinky" sex.
Arlo is the romantic youngster. His brothers think he wears his heart on his sleeve and falls in love every week.

3 completely different personalities, 1 independent woman who belongs to no one, could you really ask for a better combination?

I will not lie, it did take me a bit longer to get into the story that it normally would for any other book. But I chalked it up to the author ensuring the reader has the full history of the worlds. After about the first 3 chapters I couldn't put the book down.

SciFi is probably the hardest genre for an author to win me over. Houston Havens' narrative of a post-Apocalyptical world with warring factions, faeries, aliens, and psychics could have easily become overwhelming on the techie side. Or with its ménage four-some, it could have left the plot as a blurry backdrop, choosing to hide in the bedroom. Luckily, Ms. Havens' story achieved a perfect balance of both. There was action, adventure, high risk rescues, starships and medical miracles. There was skinny-dipping at dusk, dream sex rendezvous, and the kind of true love that never lets go.

Sinful Surrender is an erotic SciFi version of Plato's Cave with bits of 1984 thrown in. Fay and her kind have been living a fairy tale version of life. One that is shallow, as passions are forbidden. As a psychic spy, she realizes her government has been telling lies to its people. When she escapes to learn the truth, she encounters an enemy that is loving and caring, a world that is beautiful--and her rising emotions overwhelm her. Faced with her government's hypocrisy and her deepening emotions, she finds herself lost. She must learn that real emotions are not like the shallow feelings she'd grown up surrounded by and she must decide whether to surrender to their pull and live or to spend her life just barely alive.

I received this book as a gift in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoy reading paranormal romances and I love stories with ménage incorporated, and combining them both into one story, sounded interesting. I didn’t know what to expect before reading this book, but I am so thrilled that I did get to read it. I really enjoyed how the author included a summary of the different survivors and technology used in the story. That was really helpful, and I thought it was a great reference tool for readers.

Sinful Surrender is book one in the Psychic Ménage series and its one book that will keep your eyes glued to your e-reader. Once I started reading Sinful Surrender, I didn’t want to stop. The story takes you into a different world and keeps you there. The characters had me intrigued and kept me hot and bothered. We get the sexual intimacy between all three characters as well as the emotional intimacy. Fay needs each one of the Abán brothers, and they need her right back, but each in different ways. Before there can be a happy ending, they must learn to trust each other and save everyone from the Dirt Dwellers. I can’t wait to dive into the second book. This is one sexy adventure that you don’t want to miss. Reviewed by Jennifer for MNP

I read this book on the plane to the USA. I enjoyed it SO MUCH! Maybe I just haven't read an interesting paranormal dystopian romance in awhile because I was truly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. Fay is a spy and has mental powers that allow her to travel out of body. When she discovers strange evidence against her government she decides to investigate in person. I loved the fearlessness of Fay and how the various worlds on Earth have been created. It's a post apocalyptic universe and I love Havens creation! The characters had great personalities, I loved Drakker and Logan though soul of a poet Arlo probably wasn't my type. ;) The relationship was sexy hot and I was so glad for Fay's Happy Ever After. I'm hoping there will be more books in the series because I really need to know what's going on with the Dirt Dweller government long term. Definitely one of my favourite menage reads and high on my post apocalyptic romances - give it a read and let me know what you think!

I give Sinful Surrender by Houston Havens Five Stars, and I am on the edge of my seat waiting for book two to come out in this awesome Psychic Ménage Series. I love ménage stories and this one really intrigued me, because of its storyline and the sexy scenes. This was a fantastic multi-genre story. I was captivated by the author’s ability to start the book off at a run and didn't slow down. It kept my attention throughout the story by weaving a stimulating tale that keeps you guessing. Havens has created worlds that fascinate, with characters that step off the page to seduce you. The sex scenes are scorching!

Fans of the Paranormal, Sci-Fi, and Fantasy romance genres will really like this. Even though this has post- apocalyptic and dystopian themes, they do not overshadow the story. So if you’re not a fan of post- apocalyptic and dystopian you’ll still enjoy this story. I highly recommend Sinful Surrender by Houston Havens.

I read sci fi, paranormal erotica more than any other genre. While the storylines and origins of the people and other worldly may change, the basis seems to stay relatively the same. Not so here. NOT AT ALL.

I was impressed and intrigued from the moment I read the first page. I actually thought I wasn't going to be able to understand the intricacies of this new world(s). Instead, the story pulled me in. I was there. I could see their worlds. I wanted to be Fay (still do if truth be told) read a bit and tell me you don't!

All of this is to say that I really thought this book to be not only a great story, it was sweet, naughty and hot all at the same time. Oh and did I mention descriptive?? HA wait and see!

I might also add that for those of you ladies who think Fifty Shades of Gray was hotness, I can assure you that was a starter book. Enjoy!

Houston Havens Psychic Menage series is going to be truly awesome if this first book is any indication at all!

Sinful Surrender was interesting, compelling, dramatic, sensual, all the things you want in a series. The characters are all appealing. I loved the men as soon as I met them, so it was very easy to understand how Fay could love them as well. I would not have minded if some of the conflict between Fay and Logan were drawn out a bit more, but I know publishers don't want thousand page novels either!

If you love scifi and fantasy, if you love paranormal romance, if you love BDSM, this is the book for you. It has everything and an author who can keep it all from turning into a huge mess! I am giving this one five fangs for certain!! Congrats to Houston Havens, you have a new fan!

The first book in the Psychic Menage series is an intriguing and fascinating dystopian erotic romance. The author has created an elaborate well thought out future world that it plausible and believable which intensifies the drama of the story and the reader really can’t help but get totally caught up in the story. I really enjoyed this story and the characters, it even brought tears to my eyes at a couple of points, and I can’t wait to see what happens next. This series debut is a success and the author’s thoughtful breakdown of the future culture at the beginning is very helpful as it painted a clear and intriguing picture of what to expect.

Syfy dystopian futuristic. I loved this book except for so in my head I just pretend that didn't happen, 'cause it just didn't need to. There is a huge information dump at the beginning, please don't drop the book before you get past that. The world building was great, the characters were vibrant, and the story was just so cool. I recommend for any syfy romance fan. I will definitely continue this series. Note: there is a cliffy here but really its just the beginning of the next story (new MCs), this one is complete.

BOOK SYNOPSIS

On the run, branded a traitor by her government, Fay Avalon has to depend on three brothers for shelter. Sinful Surrender is Book 1 of Houston Havens’ new romance series, Psychic Ménage. Why be tempted by one man’s seduction when you can be loved by three?

Top psychic spy Fay Avalon saw too much on her latest mind-traveling mission and is now on the run from her post-catastrophic dystopian government, searching for the truth and proof. She escapes but is shot down, landing in the arms of the enemy.

In Drakker and Arlo’s world, women are so rare the men have accepted a polyandrous lifestyle. When the brothers stumble upon Fay unconscious in the wreckage of an aircraft, they are immediately attracted to her. Arlo wants to keep her, but Drakker knows they can’t. They must take her to their brother Logan Abán, leader of their people.

Logan struggles with trusting anyone, even himself. When a beautiful, intelligent, and intriguing woman falls into their laps, his denied desires for intimacy challenge his need to trust the spy. He’s frustrated by romantic Arlo’s claims of her innocence. When pragmatic and dominating Drakker defends her as well, Logan refuses to trust his gut.

Can one woman satisfy the diverse desires of three men? Will Logan’s fears be realized by betrayal? Is Fay to be sentenced to death as a spy, suffer a fate worse than death by being returned to her government as a traitor, or will she find a new life and love as the wife of three sexy brothers?

Content: Hot, D/S Elements, Anal Play, Anal Intercourse, Ménage, Polyamory, Voyeurism, Light BDSM

My Thoughts

Intense in every way and the explicit sex scenes dominate the story but do not overshadow or lessen the impact of the main story line.

I will warn anyone who does not enjoy intense, descriptive, sometimes raunchy sex as there is a lot of it throughout this erotic tale. The theme is one that is not enjoyed by all romance readers but I promise even though your eyes might blister there is a good story hidden amidst all the sexiness.

This is a mixture of romance, politics, action, dystopian, sci-fi adventure and paranormal elements all combined into a cohesive story that will excite you as well as intrigue you with the possibilities it presents to those who enjoy exploring their sexual fantasies.

The intenseness that permeates a lot of the interaction between Fay and the 3 Aban brothers is seductive as well as at times very endearing, Arlo-Logan-and Drakker are the perfect combination of potent masculinity to offset Fay’s femininity as each man brings something different to the unique relationship that all four of them find themselves engaging in..

I found myself at first intimidated by the information overload to set the stage for the story at the beginning but after starting to read that quickly was the furthest thing from my mind as the fascinating events dragged me into the book completely and engrossed me with all the different elements that wove together to create an exciting tale.

Good thing is that Phantom Desire book 2 is available to read already as this ends with a definite cliffhanger that demands you to grab the next one to find out what happens next!

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

After finishing reading Sinful Surrender by Houston Havens, I find myself at a loss for words which is not normally a good thing. But this book was so amazing and I don’t know if I can adequately describe to you just amazing it is.

Before I set down to read Sinful Surrender, I already had some preconceptions. First of all, the book is subtitled Psychic Ménage. It’s listed as paranormal, post-apocalyptic, dystopian, science fiction. These words don’t even begin to describe this wonderful, original book. It didn’t take many pages into the book before I had to throw out all those preconceived notions. I was able to just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Ms. Havens must have one unbelievable imagination to have created this world depicted in Sinful Surrender. But she did so much more than just be imaginative. She took the time to truly think out all the characters, including the sub-characters, and how they relate to this post-apocalyptic world. This is evident in the Prologue where she goes to great lengths to outline the players competing for domination. I must admit that at first that amount of detail scared me, but it turned out to be so helpful in knowing who was who and it showed me that Ms. Havens had put a lot of thought and effort into this book.

Many times in ménage books, the focus is on the sex. The idea is sex, sex and more sex. While the sex in Sinful Surrender was certainly hot and steamy, it was the plot and the characters that took center stage. I won’t go into great detail about the plot because I don’t want to spoil your enjoyment of this book, but suffice it to say that I felt like I was dropped into the middle of an action movie. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen. I found myself holding my breath and talking to my e-reader the same way I yell at my television.

The characters also pulled me in immediately. Each one was his or her own individual and came across as believable and real, even in a science fiction book. Fay is a heroine that will make you cheer. She is smart, sassy, brave, yet vulnerable all at the same time. Her three men are appealing on their own, but combine them and wow! Each one brings something special to his individual relationship with Fay and they won my heart early on.

Fay had reservations about being in a ménage which made her seem authentic and gave the guys the opportunity to show her how it would work. And does it ever work! Yet, Ms. Havens was able to magically balance the romance with the story. It never seemed like she threw in a sex scene just to amp the hotness; instead each sexual encounter naturally flowed as part of the story.

Hopefully this review has intrigued you enough to pick up Sinful Surrender because you won’t be sorry. Just make sure you set aside a chunk of time because once you start, you won’t want to stop. I should also warn you that this book ends on a cliffhanger. And it’s the type of cliffhanger that will have you screaming at your e-reader. Hopefully we will not have to wait too long. Until then, let’s stalk Ms. Havens until she finishes book two.

This is a wonderful, gritty, post-catastrophic dystopian world that the author has created. I was leery of reading a book set in 4860. I feared it would be impossible to connect to, being so far into the future. Man, was I wrong! The author weaves multiple existences like a master! There are at least 5 different types of situations going on and it flows seamlessly. They all make sense, they are all different, based on who they apply to, and it is very believable. I loved this book for the most part. My only negative was that the main character, Fay Avalon, didn't stay true to who she was all the way through. She has a very odd break near the end that just took it down a tiny notch for me. But this is very much a must read for any adventure seeking reader. Most of the book is quite brilliant and interesting. It had me in its grasp so well that I read it cover to cover in one sitting and I can't wait for the second book in this series to come out!
There was an end of the world event that caused the rich and powerful to build a world underground to protect them from it. They only let certain important people in, allowing the rest of humanity to die. Not all did. The Underground Government poisoned, experimented on, and did horrible things to the people left above ground, also known as Airbornes. There are other types of folks, but you can read about them. The book focuses more on these 2 groups in this book. When Fey Avalon, a mind traveler spy for the Underground Government, is tasked with a mind travelers mission to find war plans from the Airbornes, she learns a hard truth about her world. The UG has lied to its people because they are greedy, evil, and running out of resources for the population. She decides she needs to find out the truth and help the resistance overthrow their government. Things go very wrong when her leaders realize she is up to something and she crash lands above ground. Her rescuers are the brothers of the Airborne's leader, Logan. Fey has no idea what things are in this new environment. She struggles between the things she was taught and how these people live. In her world, sexuality is not a good thing and the population controls, along with Big Brother, keep the sheep in line. Out here, women are scarce after the UG tried to kill them all, so it is normal for men to share a woman and pleasure is a good thing. Things go from bad to worse as the UG tries to capture Fey as a traitor, and the three brothers fight to save Fey and their people. Now, this book is very sexy and hot, but the suspense in the story is just as incredible. This is an awesome adventure to read, and I can't wait to see what happens next! The end of the book will have you screaming at the pages! This is one amazing adrenaline ride from start to finish. I am looking forward to reading more about this fascinating world Houston Havens has created.
