Hi, my name is John and I was born in Portsmouth in 1968. I currently work in the security alarm industry and it was seeing a few clients with their own published works that got me wondering what it was like to have your own written book on the shelf at home. I've always had a hankering to write a book and it was reading a detective story by an author of who I am now a huge fan that finally inspired me. I began with a vague idea of a storyline and this grew over time and eventually took on its own form. When they say a book writes itself at times they are not wrong. Finally after nearly 18 months of burning the midnight oil, stealing hours on days off, lunch hours and evenings on standby waiting for the phone to ring, all hunched over my laptop typing away, I finally had my first draft of Renatus, my first novel. Another 6 months of rewriting and editing (huge thanks to my wife Beccy who was able to spot loads of stuff) it was finally uploaded in January of 2013. A paperback link has followed and I now have my written work on my own bookshelf at home. The book has been slowly selling and although I would love it to be a success I am equally happy that it has reached a number of people and have thoroughly enjoyed the writing process. In February of 2014, and following another hard year of writing, Renatus 2 was finally finished and added to the Amazon websites.

“Renatus 2” by John Saunders is a worthy follow up to his debut detective novel. This story continues with two odd accidents that throw up plenty of questions and set up suspense and intrigue right away. After the first few pages my curiosity could not have been aroused any more.
Detective Eddie from book one becomes a suspect himself as the new victim is a prime suspect in the murder of his wife.
Enter Sean with his special abilities and you have a great premise that is seen through with realistic and interesting characters, a solid plot and great atmospheric writing.
I am already a big fan of crime investigation with just a hint of the paranormal, just as Saunders does in this series. Highly recommended.

I thoroughly enjoyed Renatus and coudn't wait to start on Renatus 2, it didn't disappoint and is a great follow up.

You don't need to read Renatus before this, but I would if I were or you'd be missing out on the start of a great series.

I'd call it a classic British police procedural with elements of whodunnit, 2 to 3 storylines and a hint of paranormal. If you've read Renatus you'll know what I mean. In fact if you have then you should be reading Renatus 2 now!

Saunders puts just enough description to the scenes to make them believable, making it a fast paced read and real page turner. He makes you care about the characters, want the best for them, and worry about them when they face problems - and that's a winner as far as I'm concerned.

I said in my review of Renatus that it would make a great TV police drama, and this would be a great episode 2. Cracker, Prime Suspect, Midsomer Murders, Waking the Dead - all came to mind whilst reading it. Suffice to say that I'm ready for Renatus 3 now
