For Civil War historians this is a story you will rarely find, but is important. And for those who follow American politics in the 21st Century, this book concerning the Northwest Conspiracy lays out the story treason by members of the Democrat Party in the states of Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, and Maine. Horan did alot of research and is an excellent writer. Published circa 1960 it is before PC. I strongly recommend it.
Excellent "reads like fiction" account of a little known Confederate hero, Captain Thomas Hines, and his involvement in what is known as the "Northwest Conspiracy." An fascinating glimpse of Confederate covert operations during the Civil War emerges from the narrative. Meticulously researched.
Excellent book about the Confederate Secret Service and their exploits. They were based in Bowling Green Kentucky. Handsome gray hardback, 1954. Crown Publishers NY.
