We line in times where both violent and nonviolent traumas are unfortunately ever present and on the increase. For example, violent acts involving guns in our schools are on the rise across the country. Young children are not immune to such acts of violence. They may be surviving victims, witnesses, or have watched a real life event on television that is overwhelmingly frightening. In addition to violent trauma, children can also be traumatized by nonviolent events.
A really cute, sweet book on how to really talk to anyone (not just kids) about trauma and how it affects them and, most importantly I think, that they are not alone in the situation. This book goes over various feelings and situations that are common place for any and all people who have gone through trauma and emphasizes that ones experiences after a trauma are not unique, they are normal, and their is always help and support.
A great resource. Explains how trauma processing and grieving work to children going through it, without ripping the scabs off the poor child's emotions. Good for almost any age child.
