This Reader, now in its revised second edition, combines passages from the scriptures with classic statements from major thinkers and institutions, ranging from the Bhagavad Gita to John Lennon and Martin Luther King.
It's a good overview of the essentials of each religion (judging from the "Christianity" chapter), and found the first chapter, "Secular Humanism," to be an intriguing addition.
Although, I don't think the editors were entirely fair to Islam (Why would you include a piece from Osama bin Laden, condoning violence, when you claim to be representing what is beautiful in each religion?).
