What an inspiring story. I had the honor of hearing Manny speak at a conference and his story tugged my heartstrings. I just had to buy the book and I'm so glad I did.

I had the chance to listen to Manny speak live. If you ever have the opportunity, go. Powerful work.

I have heard Manny's presentation in San Antonio and I was truly moved by his story and the way he talks about it. Truly and deeply inspiring. I was eager to read his book. The combination of presentation + book is very powerful. His story is touching and inspiring. Simply written it's a quick read, I recommend it.

I heard Manny Scott speak in 2015, and reading his memoir now reminded me of what I loved about his presentation. His book was a quick read filled with insight for educators and hope for those wondering how to turn things around.

Whenever we think we are in a bad spot and that the world is unfair, all we have to do is look a bit further to find others whose lives are harder than the ones we are facing. Manny Scott tells the story of his life that stresses the importance of people who take time to reach out and give a hand, hug, or inspiration to those in need.

His stories of how others reacted to his "blackness" and how that impacted his self-esteem demonstrated why he carried himself the way he did. Taking the time to understand the other person and not make judgments is a good step forward in making the world a better place.

Manny's story is compelling and shows that given the right set of circumstances, you can get out of dysfunctional family living and be the person God created you to be.

The 5-star review is more for the way the author turned his life around. The writing is probably a 4; however, his story is so inspiring, his encouragement to help others so motivational, that the book really deserves a 5. If you can get a copy, do so and read it. The man went through so much in his life and became a successful entrepreneur, husband, and father. A true inspiration for everyone.

It is nearly impossible to give this book a rating. How can you “rate” a person’s life? So I️ am giving this incredible man 5 stars for the difference he is making in the world and for challenging me to be a better person and teacher.

So inspirational!! I love this quote from the afterword: “I hope you see that who you are, right now, is enough - enough to change a life, enough to give someone hope, and enough to give someone help.” I pray that my life would help those around me to have hope!

I was able to hear Manny speak a few years ago and bought his book at the time. I appreciate his message a lot. As a person and as an educator I think there are a lot of lessons to learn from his story!

I got to hear Manny's speech on our opening day for teachers. This book gave more details of what he went through and how he got to where he is today. It was truly inspiring and an eye opener!

Absolutely LOVED this book!!! He was amazing to see in person (was the Keynote at Fusion in 2017) and his books are just like "hearing him" on paper.

I had heard Manny Scott speak, so I knew part of his story, but reading the whole thing made me grateful that God came into his life and changed it.

I appreciated Manny telling his story however, the book read like a student had written it. Poor spelling, bumpy transitions, and a lot of repeated sayings.
