This was cute, I guess. The secondhand embarrassment was unbearable at times, but there were moments that worked.

Smith was insufferable for the first half, throwing tantrums like a child, and it dragged the story down. The other characters were fine, but nothing about them stood out.

Nothing too noteworthy overall—I wouldn’t really recommend it unless you’re already into omegaverse (and even then, probably not).

I don’t even know what this is about, but it looks entertaining. Plus, it can’t possibly be worse than what I last read 😭

Why Choose Omegaverse

“She’s mine. And no one is going to stop me from finding her and making her mine.” Well, that sounds healthy. Doesn’t some fairy tale start out like this? A horror movie? Close enough.

I liked book 1 more but still enjoyed this as well.

“I want to take you home. The same way I wanted to take you home every single day when neither of us had one.”

I have a problem with the males in the pack

The story is written well.

My issue is with the primary pack alpha's behaviour in the beginning and the rest of the pack.

The only difference between being beaten and barked into submission or compliance is the bruises. While I understand the author was trying to demonstrate a bully to mate dynamic. For me the actions weren't something a few nights in Training could address. She should have run.

As the rest of the pack knew of this behaviour and did nothing to stop it or to keep her safe their assertions of how much they loved and wanted and worshiped her blah blah were worthless. They stood by and watched it happen, this passive acceptance is tacit endorsement and just as reprehensible. As long as they got what they wanted they were happy to let the bad times roll.

…mainly because I disliked Smith for so much of the book, and the hormone demons really kicked up a fuss about it.

🛡️ Audiobook Review: Knot Her Shot

Series: MVP: Most Valuable Pack, #2
Genre: Reverse-Harem Sports Romance / Omegaverse
Narrators: James Cavanaugh and Brooke Daniels

🦸🏼‍♀️ Heroine Spotlight: Remi

Remi’s story begins with heartbreak — abandoned as a baby and raised in the foster system, she learned early to mold herself into whatever version of “wanted” she thought might earn her a family. But no one ever chose her. That ache for belonging shaped her into a people pleaser, even as she grew up in a group home. Everything changed the day she discovered she was an omega — a revelation that led her to a specialized omega-only home, where she met Meg (heroine of Knot Her Goal). Before that shift, Remi had a quiet crush on a broody future alpha in her group home — a boy who would later reappear in her life in the most unexpected way.

🦸🏻‍♂️ Hero Spotlight: Smith, Cassian & Damon

Smith and Cassian are brothers bound by tragedy and resilience. After losing their parents young, Smith stepped into the role of protector and provider, eventually building a business empire that supports not just Cassian but their third packmate, Damon. Cassian, the gruff goalie nicknamed “Beastly,” and Damon, the charismatic center of the Orlando Timberwolves, are hockey stars with very different vibes. Damon’s charm draws puck bunnies like moths to flame, but lately, the spark has dimmed — he’s craving something real. Smith, ever the strategist and alpha, decides it’s time to find their omega and turns to a high-end matchmaking service to do just that.

📃 Plot Pulse

With wealth, stability, and a newly renovated home, the pack is ready to welcome an omega. Remi, weary of enduring painful heats alone and longing for the kind of love Meg found, agrees to try the matchmaking service — especially since Meg’s pack offers to cover the cost. But Remi’s nerves spike when she learns she’ll be matched and meet her pack immediately. The twist? One of the alphas is her childhood crush. The joy of reunion is quickly complicated by the presence of Smith — someone she remembers for all the wrong reasons. Sparks fly, but not all of them are romantic.

💘 What Hit Home

• The pack’s dynamic is beautifully balanced — each man distinct in personality, yet complementary. Their differences make them stronger together and perfect for Remi.
• Smith may be polarizing, but I found him compelling. Yes, he’s abrasive at first — a control freak shaped by years of responsibility — but his growth is subtle and satisfying. His restraint, his quiet recalibrations, and his effort to listen rather than command made me root for him.

🧐 What Fell Flat

• Remi’s fearfulness felt inconsistent. Given her tough upbringing, I expected more grit and street smarts. Her vulnerability made sense in the context of longing to be loved, but her frequent tears didn’t quite align with someone who’s survived so much alone.

🎧 Narration Notes

Told through dual POVs, the audiobook features James Cavanaugh and Brooke Daniels. James brings a warm, masculine tone, though his character differentiation could use polish — it was occasionally tricky to track who was speaking. Brooke Daniels, on the other hand, is a standout. Her voice fits Remi perfectly: expressive, age-appropriate, and effortlessly immersive. She doesn’t sound like she’s reading — she sounds like she’s living it.

📝 Final Takeaway

This story blends emotional vulnerability with pack dynamics, second chances, and the ache of finally being chosen. While not perfect, it delivers heart, heat, and healing — especially for listeners who love layered alphas and heroines who find their voice.

This is my first original Omegaverse novel, but it isn’t my first OV everrrr. I remember reading about OV in it’s very early days in Harry Potter and Supernatural fanfiction (I even distinctly remember the author crediting someone for creating the A/B/O dynamic. Yes, I’m old, I know.) It is very interesting to see where things have evolved from the OG werewolf fics to what Ali writes in her novel.

This novel is a great intro to OV, and also would make a great palette cleanser with it’s low angst, high swoon, and good spice.

I fell in love with each of our characters and their drastically different personalities:

🥐 Damon is our neurospicy golden retriever forward, who is worried about never being good enough or contributing enough to the pack, but in reality, is probably the smartest of them all and if pack dynamics played a bigger part in this book I would put him in a beta position - the mediator, the protector. The way this man went out of his way to learn about the things his mate loved with his audiobooks, was heartwrenching and warming all at once.
🍫 Cassian “Bear” is our quiet, introverted goalie. Built like a brick house with a gooey centre, he gets a second chance with our main girl and does everything he can not to squander it.
☕ Smith is our head alpha and starts off really unlikeable and comes off as an alphahole. He does his fair share of grovelling and learning and probably has my favourite character development of the whole pack. Smith is always well-dressed, right down to his special pocket squares 😏 He might also be the most… creative, using hockey sticks in a way that I kind of hope appears in more hockey romance novels cause it was 🥵
🍯🪻 And last we have Remi… Remi thinks she needs to be the quintessential Omega (translation; a 50s housewife) and watching her come out of her shell, and learn how to be her true self with her guys was really special.

Special thanks to: Author Agency for providing this copy.

A weird overuse of polished and glossy to describe EVERY fucking wood tone. Also they refer to doors as portals several times and that’s just so interesting? Kind of bugs me when unique words are used in multiple characters internal dialogue because it makes me realize this is a written book and possibly an author word quirk rather than the characters quirk.

Anyway…

A huge amount of fade to black was used in this one that I don’t remember as much in the first. And I don’t mean a fade to black in bedroom scenes… just like normal everyday relationship building moments. Chapter ends and we’re onto a new day or week. A bit of a bummer if I’m being honest. We get a great moment of growth and then just jump to being told that they’re closer after XYZ. I’d rather get those on page plzzzzzzz.

I knew we would get a callback to the prologue with one of the alphas and I’m happy we did!

But to be honest what the actual FUCK was the reason to make Smith suuuuuch an awful person at first? WHO talks to service industry workers (let alone anyone) like that?? His own damn employees too!! There’s no way to come back from that in my mind. Like sir if you treated your own mate who was a barista like subhuman garbage, how are you treating everyone else? Is the valet getting gutted because someone else’s car was moved first? Is your server getting a plate smashed on their head? Wowow Smith is lucky I’m not Remi because I would have noped out of there and taken Cassian and Damon for myself without that douche.

I was so sure I was going to dnf this book that I’m honestly surprised that I didn’t. I’ve got to say that I’m proud of myself, it took me forever to finish it, but here we f*cking go.
We have some m/m action in this book as well as in the first one. It’s very mild and if I remember correctly it’s only in a scene, but it was hot tho. So idk, I guess it’s an MFMM kind of situation in here too.
Tbh I didn’t like any of the characters all that much, but it got slightly better in the second half of the book, so there is that.
I still don’t know if it was boring or if it was just me not being in the right mood for this reading.

I was enjoying this at the beginning, but after a while I was over it. Remi was a bit annoying so it made it difficult for me to connect with her.

And don’t get me started on smith. At one point I forgot he was even in this book, he was awful and he didn’t grovel enough for me tbh.

This book also had no business being this long, I made it to 70% before I mentally checked out and just skimmed to the ending.

This was honestly amazing. It was so warm and sweet and full of emotional growth and you know🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

This book is a perfect example of don’t judge a book by its cover.

Like if you are looking for a hockey omegaverse, this is my #1 rec 🤍

* a few things to note:
-reluctant mmc was a bit rough for most of the book

-really didn’t enjoy the “world” aka the characters from the first book in the series. This is always tricky, but because I didn’t read book 1 (and have no desire to. Football? No thanks), I had no connection to the original characters and therefore found it very cheesy and cringe. I mostly skimmed those scenes tbh.

One of these days body betrayal will stop being shoved down our throats as readers.

I actually liked this one far more than the first book. I liked the alphas a lot more too, but sadly the FMC's personality suffered for it.

I hated one alpha for much of the book, but he redeemed himself and turned into a wonderful, caring character. I just wish that she wasn't so ready to accept him so easily. Don't get me wrong, they don't get together easily at all. But that's because HE feels guilty and puts up a boundary to learn how to take care of her before he ever tries to progress to the next level. SHE wanted him immediately and would have taken him however he presented himself to her because .×.body betrayal.×.

I hate that because we saw so much of his internal agony over how he treated her, we're expected to accept less grovel and apologies on his part. This happens often in books, and it's not enough for me. They need to show the character (not me) that they won't act that way again through their actions, but often that isn't the case. BUT this one was in the middle. It is mentioned that he changes the way he interacts with her after taking his classes, and over time, she becomes more comfortable with him. And then once they're together he treats her so, so well.

The other alphas were adorable too. I love that they all helped each other grow in different ways, and that their fractured pack was stitched back together because of having her in their lives.

Also the one alpha subconsciously waited for her for 10 years. *Le sighhh*

Good smut lol.

Really good, sweet pack bonding moments in the second half. I almost made this a four star rating for that alone, because I'm a sucker for that stuff, but then I remembered the body betrayal and lack of full grovel. 💥

I hate men that abuse service staff. This omegas sits there and takes the abuse from a man that threw boiling hot coffee at her, keeps barking her into submission. It’s awful. This book is plugged as low angst - and for women that are content to be abused and walked all over because “love”, then yeah, this is low angst.

The fact that her other alphas allowed her to be bullied so badly by another pack mate made me sick to the stomach.

This book upset me.

This was really good. It was a bit more angsty than the first in the series. The FMC has a poor first impression / initial interactions with the alpha pack leader, making finding her scent-sensitive match much more complicated. I really liked all of the main characters, and loved getting to see snippets of the how Meg and her guys were doing as well. Each main character was very different and added their own flavor to the mix. The forever love of Cassian was heartwarming and sweet. The golden retriever love of Damon was adorable and pure. And the agonizing, fearful love of Smith was beautiful.

This story is definitely a journey and here are a lot of difficult times for the FMC and MMCs, as Smith figures his sh*t out. But, as they should, they get their HEA eventually. Also, love the references to the Great British Bake Off! 🍰

4⭐️ THIS is the type of grovelling I was expecting from book 1!!

The pack alpha in this book starts off being such an a-hole!! Seriously, so, so bad! But then about 50% into the book we see the steps he takes, and the massive amounts of grovelling that should happen when one acts as such and still expect some reciprocation of feelings from the FMC, you know.

I feel like this was exactly what was missing in Meg's pack. Her absolutely grade A a-hole alpha did zero grovelling and things were just fine??? Mmm I don't think so.

My first Omegaverse read and Ari exceeded every expectation I had!

Remi is an Omega who was orphaned at birth. All she’s ever wanted is a family. A pack of her own, and people who truly WANT her. As a last resort, she goes to a scent matching clinic to find her perfect pack.

Enter our Alphas.
🥮Damon: Our golden retriever Alpha with his flirty, goofy demeanor but secretly struggles with feelings of not being good enough.
🍫Cassian: Our grumpy bear Alpha, all broody and reserved. He knew Remi before in the group home they used to share growing up after his and Smith’s parents die.
☕️Smith: Our pack leader and Cassian’s stepbrother who first comes across as an Alphahole but we learn has the world on his shoulders, trying to give Cassian and Damon a better life.

I adored Remi and her relationship with each Alpha.
I loved seeing the way Damon and Cassian immediately dote on her and how they protect and give her everything she’s ever wanted. I loved seeing her relationship with Smith, which started out rough, grow into
something so beautiful.

Remi is a STRONG FMC, giving her alphas everything they need to become a stronger pack together.

There's a lot to like about this author's writing and the story. There's great consent, everyone gets to learn and grow, the spice is spicing, and it's minimal tension. One of the alphas is even a virgin and has been waiting for our heroine!!

However, I wasn't a fan of being reminded of the manwhore ways of another alpha nor of how terribly the pack alpha treated her before knowing she was his. It makes me distrust him as a person that he could treat a stranger and subordinate so poorly. I think the story dealt with it okay for their relationship but I just don't trust him as a person.

Still, it's a really nice chill story and a nice break from using my brain. I even cried at some of the backstories.

I enjoyed this book so much. It has a little bit of everything. There's second chance romance, found family, great character development, and so much delicious spicy.

First, we met Remi an omega, who has had a very lonely life outside of her best friend Meg. She longs to find a pack of alphas who would love and cherish her and never let her go. Unfortunately that hasn't happened, so her best friend who has already found her pack suggests Remi try a Scent-matching service to find her pack of alphas that her friend Meg is willing to pay the 10k fee for her to do. She initially rejects the idea. But fear of going through another heat alone and just the weight of loneliness gives her the courage to give the Scent-matching service a try. Not only do they find her a pack that matches her, but the pack and her have the highest scent match possible.

The pack consists of three alphas. Smith who is the oldest and the Pack Alpha, his stepbrother Cassain, and Damon. Two of the three have encountered Remi at different points in their life. Which makes the story even more intriguing. There are many bumps in the road to happiness for Remi with one alpha in particular but in the end his love for her is one of the swooniest. High recommend this book.

Book one was really good, but now that I read book two, I’m scared this one of the series in which every single books feels the same. I mean, the characters felt kinda different but the MMCs could have been written a lil better. Only Cassian truly felt different from the MMCs from book one. He was sooo sweet, I loved him! Smith on the other hand…… I’m not sure we’re supposed to care abt him? I mean we are but the author did an awful job with him sadly. We should have had more of his POV for us to truly start caring or understanding him. The third one, D, well.. I already forgot his name so there’s that.

The first 50% was good and the other half of the book felt VERY similar to the last half of book 2…… so I have mixed feelings, despite still enjoying the ride !

Next book’s plot seems different enough, so I’ll give that one a try ; but if it isn’t, I’ll be dropping this whole series.

This was my first Omegaverse and I love how she explained it in the beginning of the book. I love all the characters, it took me awhile to like Smith but loved him by the end, I wanted to smack him so many times but still. I don’t know who my favorite guy was, Damon had me laughing a lot but Cassian was just everything. Remi is a lucky woman and she deserves all the good with the life she was made to live. This is such a good book and it has everything and is spicy once it gets to the spice anyways. I definitely recommend this one.

I think I would’ve gave this one more star if a couple things would’ve happened. Like making him work harder for your affection after the way he treated you. One other thing would be to give me a little more into the characters, I feel like I just got the same thing over and over with just a few words changed. Especially when it came to their past, I wish I would’ve gotten more.

Anywayyyyyy, Ari Wright is the author that got me into “omegaverse” so I will always read each and every one. I’m kind of scared to look into more books like this because I love hers so much. She makes very lovable characters for the most part anyway, of course you always loving the others after their redemption.

I came across this book on TikTok. I have been on an Omegaverse binge, and when I saw a teaser for this book, I knew I had to read it. Then I found out there was a whole series, which meant I had to read the first one, obviously, lol. I was obsessed with all the Alpha's as well as Remi's story. I absolutely loved Knot Her shot. This was probably my favorite out of the 3 I have read so far in this series. I love how well the guys immediately take care of Remi even though she doesn't think she deserves their love. Bear, IYKYK, was my favorite character, but I also enjoyed the other Alpha's as well! As for the spice, oof, this book had me panting like I was in heat for the first time. If one of these Alpha's told me to get on my knees and lick the mess off the floor I would have said, "Yes, Daddy," and happily obliged.

Most Valuable Pack #2: Knot Her Shot
By @ari.wrights.romance

This was my first Omegaverse read and I wasn’t sure how I was going to like it, turns out I loved it. Remi and her Alphas hooked me and I fell in love with every character in this book. I truly enjoyed the way they all love each other in their own ways and help each other which truly shows that love comes in all shapes and sizes.

This is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone. Now that I fell for Remi I have to go back and read Meg and her Alpha’s story.

Thank you @theauthor.agency and @ari.wrights.romance for the opportunity to read an ARC of this book!

I can’t say this book was *bad*. But it wasn’t great either. I struggled for weeks to finish this because I could never bring myself to pick it up. There wasn’t much going on after they all three got with her. It just felt stagnant, and took my way longer to finish this than I normally take with books.

This was such a good book!! I binged it last night!

I loved this book and the previous one in this series!
Remi was such an amazing character and I love the alphas. Some of course were not my favorite in the beginning but I grew to love them more as I progress in the book!!

I love how everyone played a role. Cassian knew a lot about her and was grumpy. Damon knew what everyone needed and was such a sweetheart. Smith was a tough cookie but he understood the details, her style.

I am so glad they were all able to grow together even if it took a while. Yes there were misunderstandings but it was great when they figure out it out together!

Excited for the third book!
*UPDATE*
Reread this book for the second time and it was just as good as the first time! I loved all the characters all the same! Loved the friendship of the fmc with the fmc from the first book! I highly recommend the audiobook for this series.
