I’m in debt up to my eyeballs. School has drained everything, including part of my soul. Now that
I’ve graduated, the economy has turned and there aren’t enough jobs available. I have to figure
something out before I drown. My friend Alyssa may have been joking about going on television for a
fast cash infusion, but it’s starting to look like a viable option. A new season of Stranded is looking for
next season’s contestants and the pay is more than fair, even if I don’t make it to the end. Sending my
submission off will be easy. I probably won’t be chosen because I’ve never so much as camped in my life,
but my father was a survivalist. There must be some of his tenacity in my veins, right?

I’m so off-grid even my past can’t find me. That’s the way I plan to remain. Until the end. No more high-brow, heavily
guarded lunches, meetings that drone on into the wee hours of the morning or dealing with people.
That was, until today. I stumbled upon a brunette bombshell practically in my backyard. A backyard I
paid a fortune to keep empty. Winter has only just begun. As I watch her, I assess that she’s not going to
make it. She knows nothing. She’s going to die out here. For some damned reason, I can’t let her.Captor
and captive begin a battle of wills during one of the worst winters on record in the Pacific Northwest.
There will be heat and blood. The question will they both survive?

Plot ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

This book was SO MUCH MORE than I thought and a great introduction as it was my first K.M. Mixon book. The “daddy” k!nk was freaking chefs kiss people!! I loved the dynamic between Slate and Brynne, their banter and chemistry was off the charts. Brynne is definitely a brat driving Slate insane, good thing he’s 100% Dom and knows just how to handle her. Brynne is a strong willed, independent, sassy woman who even though she’s got her struggles isn’t willing to give up on herself. Slate is running from his past pushing down his demons but when he comes across Brynne those demons start crawling back to the surface.

The plot of this story had me interested and hook from the start and by chapter 3 I was completely invested in these characters lives. Brynne needs money, her life has been a struggle since her father disappeared years ago and her mother became a shell of her former self. Taking a chance she signs up to be on a survival TV show, she’s got some knowledge as her dad taught her what he could before he disappeared. Unfortunately once she’s dropped off she gets caught in a storm and ends up off track and lands right in Slate’s path. Slate watches from afar but it doesn’t take long before he becomes obsessed with Brynne and she becomes his captor (and that is only a fraction of the story).

There is definitely dark themes to this book so if dark romance isn’t your thing keep looking. However if you like your MMC morally grey, obsessed and totally unhinged, like wanting to peel off his captors skin to see what’s underneath kinda unhinged, then this book is for you.

A true dark romance with plenty of spice. For me, it was like The Sopranos meets Survivor in a way. The story starts when an independent and determined MFC meets an unhinged MMC with a tainted past and then things get heated. There’s a lot of twists and turns and plot building. Lots of spice. And this book takes daddy kink to a whole other level. 😂

One of my favorite parts - Chapter 36 page 300

Favorite Characters: Slate, Brynne, Dante, Celine, Alyssa

Least Favorite Characters: N/A

𝐌𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬:
It was beautifully written. The kink, the twists, the passion, the way Slate (MMC) would tend to Brynne (FMC) - so much excitement while reading this story. 𝙏𝙖𝙡𝙠 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙠𝙧𝙮𝙥𝙩𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙚 😏. Brynne was such a force. She was strong, brave, fearless and full of surprises. So much happens and you never want it to end. To top it off, the mix of Italian and French, 🥵spoken in moments of passion, oh my… this book is perfection. I finished this in two days and it was 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 because I had work lol. I was on such a thrill reading this, buckle up folks because you’re in for a wild ride! 🖤

This is the third book in the authors Dark Corruption series (𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘴 🤭 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯’𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩, 𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘤𝘬 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘸𝘰 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰!). Each are stand-alone books.

I was kind of made to read the book and went in only knowing it was a dark romance and while I, for some reason, expected something completely different, I was definitely not disappointed!

It's neither the darkest, nor the smuttiest book I ever read, but it does have a good balance of dark to some lighter moments, to (sort of) romantic to inferno.

There were some twists and turns I didn't fully expect and KM kept me on my toes and reading, so if I had had more time to read, I would have probably finished it in a day or even less. The story has a good flow and the characters are great.

I'm looking forward to reading more from KM Mixon and am happy I (got) stumbled upon her.

I would have probably done a 3.5, I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it. This one was just ok for me. The storyline was great and it was well written by the author. For me personally I felt it was a bit slow for my liking. The last 20% was the best part. I did enjoy the twist and the fun dynamic that brought to the storyline.

Good thing it was dead at work because I was not working and reading this instead! The sexy banter back and forth between Slate and Brynne was top notch. She can be such a brat! But had some Dom tendencies that drive Slate crazy like no other.

Brynne stumbles onto Slates property when she’s trying to film for a wilderness reality TV show. He is immediately fascinated by her. She haunts his thoughts, Brynne has some survival skills, but he still feels compelled to provide and watch over her.

They have a run in while Brynne is out foraging and she injures Slate. Of course he’s going to teach her a lesson.

He captures her and brings her back to his cabin. Where they fall into easy sub/dom roles. She’s his. He’s not letting her go.

Unfortunately, Slates past decides to come crashing into his new found happiness. They both end up back in the real world and have to face their pasts. Some very uncomfortable truths are uncovered on both sides but our unlikely duo find a way back to each other.

The spicy spice is so hot! If you don’t already have a Daddy kink, your about to develop one. The dedication page says it all, Daddy Slate is top notch. 🫠 He’s also an obsessive primal who speaks 4 languages and will talk dirty to you in all of them 🫠

Brynne, our feisty FMC, she is stronger and more resilient then she knows. Slate is able to bring out another side of her. We watch her go from a dejected shell of a person just holding on and barely scraping by to an authoritative confident partner for Slate.

A great read, do mind your trigger warnings as there is some graphic torture.

4.5 ⭐️ no spoilers ⬇️

Strong and independent FMC (Brynne).
Morally gray and misunderstood MMC (Slate).

All he has been known for is enforcing his family’s rules (mafia). All he’s ever wanted was to take care of someone. 😭🖤

All she wants is to make her departed father proud, and get herself out of debt.

It took me a few chapters to really get into it, but once I did I had a hard time putting it down. Especially once the main characters met. There were so many twists and turns, and actual jaw dropping moments for me while reading.

I loved how strong and independent the FMC is, but I also love that it doesn’t stop our MMC from wanting to take care of her himself.🥹

There are a few twists that I absolutely did not see coming but I feel like they made the ending even better than I had anticipated.

The characters have a ✨daddy✨ kink 😉 Open door spicy scenes throughout the book🌶️ Slate also has the cutest nickname for Brynne 😭

There are definitely dark themes, so check out the TW before diving in.

If you don’t like dark romance, the kinks listed in the TW, morally gray men, mafia men, or kidnapping and murder in your books, then this isn’t for you.

Absolutely an 18+ read.

Strange and eerie

I read and appreciated the trigger warnings. So I thought I'd try something different with this book. The beginning was very realistic with the situations and the dialogue. However it started to go down the rabbit hole pretty quickly. Why did she not use her Panic radio when he came after her? I had to put it down when the torture and knife play started. I came back I did finish it. The editing and the writing was good but I just don't care for sex clubs I like the guy who says look at her and all cut your eyes out. This book was a little weird for me. I'm not sure if I'll read the next one. Thank you author for sufficient trigger warnings.

This book was spicy, it was mysterious. And I really liked it. There was a lot of spice and not a lot of plot though. In my opinion. But I liked the spice because it’s hard to find authors who write spice like this. 🥰

Captor by KM Mixon is an intense, pulse-pounding romance that grips you from the very first page and refuses to let go. The author’s writing is nothing short of masterful, weaving an intricate story filled with suspense, passion, and unexpected twists that leave you gasping at every turn.

One of the standout aspects of Captor is how well-written it is. KM Mixon creates an immersive atmosphere, blending just the right amount of tension with deep character development. The pacing is spot-on, and Mixon has a way of pulling you into the minds of the characters, making you feel every bit of the emotional highs and lows as if you were right there with them.

The twists and surprises in Captor are truly what set this book apart. Just when you think you know where the story is headed, Mixon flips the script, leaving you breathless and desperate for more. Every reveal is carefully plotted, and the shocks feel earned rather than forced, making the experience all the more satisfying.

And let’s talk about the spice—it’s incredible. The chemistry between the main characters is electric, and the tension builds in such a way that when things finally explode, it’s both steamy and intensely satisfying. The spice is well-balanced with the plot, never overshadowing the story but enhancing it. Mixon doesn’t hold back, delivering scenes that are both sensual and emotionally charged, leaving readers craving more.

Lastly, the male main character’s (MMC) dirty talk is absolutely top-notch. It’s not just about the words he says, but how he says them. Every interaction is dripping with heat, and the way Mixon writes the dialogue feels natural, adding a whole new layer to the characters’ dynamic. It’s seductive, powerful, and makes the connection between the leads feel even more authentic.

In conclusion, Captor is a brilliant, seductive thrill ride that combines suspense, romance, and spice in the best way possible. KM Mixon delivers a well-written, twist-filled story with unforgettable characters and explosive chemistry. If you’re looking for a book that will leave you breathless, Captor should be at the top of your list.

Another good read from this author! I will always seek out her books, she doesn't just do well in one genre or with just one trope. K.M. Mixon has the ability to immerse you in the story and make you feel what the characters are feeling.

Now for this book 4.5 🌟
I was intrigued at the idea of the FMC going on a TV show and winding up in the middle of something she had no idea about. Brynne was sassy and ready to take on the world even if she doubted her ability to do so. I really liked her character a lot and was able to relate to her..

The MMC was one that I struggled with liking throughout the story. I enjoyed his POV's and seeing his character development over the course of the story. He was someone who cared deeply when he let himself care for someone.

I don't want to give too much of it away, so I'll just say this one had me on the edge of my seat for the majority of time I spent reading. It was a bit slow to begin but it does pick up and when it does you won't be able to put it down. This book is part of a series but up to this one they can be read as standalone books.

4/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️( spice )
3/5 🖤🖤🖤( darkness )

This was such a pleasant surprise! This was my first read by K.M. Mixon and it WILL NOT be my last. This MMC was so unhinged! He wanted to peel her skin back to take a look at what’s underneath and honestly…SO ROMANTIC! Our FMC isn’t some helpless damsel either and she knows what she wants, even if he is a homicidal lunatic who leaves her skinned squirrels so that the wilderness doesn’t have a chance to kill her before he does. She sees the same green flags I see! Our man is DEVOTED. I love also how this is a survival/ one bed situation and also tosses in some mafia trope. Honestly, it could be a Stockholm love but whatever…I’ll never knock anyone’s happiness. I will say K.M. Mixon does a great job at getting me to second guess my hard stance of, no camping anywhere cold. I mean if there’s a chance a big burly New York Mafia enforcer ends up stalking, kidnapping, and hanging me from his basement ceiling while doing naughty things to my kitty cat…I might just give it a go.

This felt like a book of two half’s. The first whilst in the cabin and wilderness was an absolute 5 out of 5. I would have loved more of a twist with the TV show but this storyline and their time in the cabin was truly an elite aspect of this book. I would have enjoyed more here before they left the island.

The second half of the book was slightly more disappointing- whilst I enjoyed the times in New York I was lost slightly by the speed in which she discovers she is part of a Mob family herself and then takes over the family with no power struggle even though she is unknown to the family members. I found this element unrealistic for the world and storyline the author had created. I did however enjoy the merging of the families. I assume the final chapter from the friends perspective is to set the scene for following book however I would have loved a final chapter from Slate regarding the now mother of his child.

The scene setting and character development was strong throughout. Overall this was a satisfying read, new to the genre and the trope I enjoyed this as an introduction.

This is my first read from KM Mixon and it definitely isn't my last (I read The Love Wager and I'm almost finished with Enforcer from this series as well!).

I was unsure going into this book, but the FMC struggling to pay student loans... yeah, I can relate. Personally, I couldn't hack it on a survivor show but kudos to Brynne for doing that and then meeting Slate. The whole premise for this mafia romance (FMC goes on survivor type show to pay student loans and ends up on mafia MMC's property by accident) was fresh and done really well by Mixon.

And the chemistry... holy s**t. It's hot and it grabs you by the throat. I know other reviews have stated there's a lot of "daddy" used but for the dynamic between MCs, it works for them and doesn't feel out of place.

It was dark, gritty, and romantic from the get-go. Mixon only amps that up throughout the book to the very end. I've already reread this in order to read Enforcer and it held up for me just as well the second time!

Daddy kink has been rekindled lol thank you for the arc!

This definitely was a fun hot read.

There's kidnapping, several kinds of kinks plus a hint of mafia world? sign me up lol

I honestly thought it was going to be just a kidnapping by a wildman type of book but I was pleasantly surprised with how this turned out in the end. Always love when there's twists and turns when I read and I don't expect them.

Brynne is struggling and when her friend suggests she signs up for a survivalist show and possibly win two million dollars, she thought 'why not?' What's the worst that can happen?
That was apparently her being kidnapped by an Italian mountain man who owns the property she stumbled upon. And this Italian brute? He was an enforcer for one of the biggest crime families in New York who happens to have several dark kinks and isn't afraid to have her play with him.

Slate ran away from New York needing to be away from the darkness of being part of the crime family. He's been alone in isolation for 5 years and has never felt better. But then this 'little bunny' has stumbled upon his home and the need to own her is pushing the 'beast' to come out. The same beast he has tried to stop being for the last 5 years. But if she wants to play too then it should be fine right?

ALWAYS MIND THE TRIGGERS WHEN READING

This book has you on the edge of your seat!
It starts off with a struggling woman, Brynne, whose best friend convinces her to go onto a survivor show in the wilderness. It's there she "meets" Slade, her stalker x kidnapper.
From there, it's a whirlwind of romance, confusion, blood and heartache. It keeps you on the edge of your seat, especially once they finally emerge from their isolated cabin.
Brynne learns more about herself and her familial ties that bring the whole situation together perfectly.
Despite this book being marketed as dark romance (which it definitely is), it had a good balance of dark and light moments that kept you feeling happy and made this a quick and easy book to read!
Definitely recommend if you're looking for something new, and cannot wait for Dante and Alyssa's book!!!

This was an… INTRIGUING read. Which is to say, the smut was pretty damn decent. Although the first half (when they were at the cabin) was by far my favorite part, and I honestly wish we had gotten… I don’t know, just MORE of that?

The plot was pretty feeble. The whole concept of the survival show could’ve just been thrown out, honestly, and the first few chapters where all that was being established were just pointless. Also, that’s a pretty major plot hole- she goes missing, while she’s supposed to be on a TV show, and… no one comes to find her? Or they don’t find her, despite the fact she’s in a (seemingly not very well-hidden) man-made structure on an ISLAND? And then once she gets back, that whole part of it is just never explained. Really could’ve been left out.

So… yeah. Liked the smut lol.

Where are my Daddy's girls! You have to read this book. Slate is so hot. Did I also mention that he is Italian and has a stalkerish side to him. After reading this book, I feel the need to find myself "lost" in the woods with a tall, dark stranger to keep me company.

I love a fierce woman and Brynne fits this description. Yet at the same time even fierce women had to kneel to a Daddy. Slate commands this. Him feeding Brynne while she sits on his lap and calls her "bunny"! Or when he feasts on Brynne. There are so many HOT scenes between these two.

This series is getting darker and darker and spicer and spicer and I am not leaving. I am here for all of it. The series name is perfect as these books match my dark soul and I have become corrupted by K.M!

Ok, to be honest, I would easily give this book a 5-star review if there had been less of "daddy" mentioned in it. I just LOLed every time, and it kinda made the book less enjoyable. I felt like I was in the comedy club, not in some kind of dark setting of a dark romance novel. Also, I wouldn't mind if there were more dark elements in the book; at this point, I feel like mafia romance is a better description.
Nevertheless, I find the story entertaining and the two main characters rather engaging. I loved the plot twist and especially how FMC rebuilt herself after the whole ordeal. I loved the secondary characters and the sneak peek into their developing love stories.

Please check trigger warnings!

Y’all… I swear KM Mixon knows how to write dark romance!! Daddy Slate is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 He’s primal, possessive, and positively the most hottest character there is!

🖤When he makes her sit on his lap naked and hand feeds her…
🖤When he makes her address him a Daddy….
🖤When he tells her that she’s his, and if she runs he’ll just catch her and drag her back…

Although it started out slow, pace picked up at around 50%.
I wish Slate was more unhinged or at least had more scenes of his unhingedness. I felt like his whole inner and outer monologue was professing his dark monstrous side but we never really got to see it. I do however loved how smitten he was with Brynne. The pet name, the dirty talk, daddy kink… all of it.

Brynne had the most character growth but some points it felt like it came out of left field. It was like a switch flipped and I was reading a completely different character. But I really liked her character at the end.

I enjoyed the twist, it tied everything in nice neat bow.

Original twist for some great characters

This had me hanging on from the time the helicopter dropped her off on the island until the very end!
Slate ran from his life to an uninhabited island and was happily alone until a TV show drops Brynne on his land to survive alone.
When Slate decides he has to have her, he literally takes her from her camp and keeps her in his house. But how can you tell if it’s Stockholm Syndrome or if what you’re feeling is the real thing?
So much more to this that I don’t want to ruin but really was a great story with a twist that I couldn’t figure out the finer details of, but I just knew…something was going to happen.

The book surprised me in the best way, in the beginning I was confused because it is unlike any mafia romance I have ever read. The wait was worth it to see Slate and Brynne meet. I loved the daddy kink, primal play and blood play! I didn’t see the twist coming at all, I had my doubts but it was so far fetched before it was explained that my brain couldn’t even think of it as a possibility but boy was I proven wrong. I love that she wasn’t s damsel in distress but like every woman if the man can truly lead and take charge we love to surrender and that’s what Slate was to her! I am so excited for the next book🙌🏼

We meet our down on her luck FMC Brynne who’s just trying to survive everyday life struggles. Her friends convince her to go on a survival show where she’s left stranded and has to film herself. She definitely is in for so much more than she thought she signed up for!

And Daddy Slate!!! I have no words other than thank you for this fictional man 💜

Captor is a dark mafia romance full of unexpected twists, betrayal, and spice. Check trigger warnings before reading as the list is pretty extensive from torture to kinks. Brynne and Slate are drawn together out in the wilderness and despite both of their intentions things quickly spiral out of their control. This would have been an easy 5 star read for me but ultimately I felt some of the plot points and twists were just too convenient.

WOW WOW and WOW!!!!!

I could not put this down. This is so much more than the e blurb lets on. Brynne finds herself in Slates darkness and Slate finds himself in her. Lord it was a dirty, twisty suspense. I devoured it!!!

Let’s talk about the “daddy” kink. Usually I just roll with it(but it’s def not my type of thing). I loved it!!! Honestly they even address is it and it made me laugh. Like yeah, don’t ask me why but I like it and need it. 😂

I picked this book out of random and I’m so glad I did. Absolutely loved it!!
