Valour Dunton is not the type to indulge in fanciful notions. To her, destiny is a concept that belongs in the realm of fairy tales, where prince charmings and happily ever afters exist. However, when Val finds her life turned upside down by unexpected powers, not even the fate of the world will persuade her to let anyone or anything determine her future. But, against all odds, Val's neighbor, Zain Darwish, manages to find his way into her life, helping her in ways she never expected. His easy smile and constant teasing have a way of diffusing her fiery temper, keeping her off balance.
A mysterious coded message guides Val to uncover terrifying plots, leaving her desperate to prevent them from happening. With Zain’s help, she delves deeper and uncovers a truth that has the potential to crush her very soul.
As chaos unfolds and the desperate call to return home grows stronger, Val must learn to open her heart. Only then will the Dunton sisters stand a fighting chance against the four men on the hill.

This is the fourth/final book in the Dunton Legacy series. The story of Val (Valour) and Zain has magic, adventure, fighting, death and is a slow burn romance. I really enjoyed this book and watching the main characters relationship evolve. They have secrets and other issues they must work through to make their relationship work. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a slow burn romance with magic and action thrown in.
Wow! What an epic conclusion to this series! This is book 4 in the Dunton Legacy series, and it’s Valour’s story. We finally get the final battle that we’ve been craving! Valour (Val) is the Guardian of Fire. She’s the most fiery (no pun intended) of the sisters. She doesn’t believe in fate and has a wall around her heart to protect her from love. But, as we know, in order for the sisters to fulfill their destiny and defeat the evil that they know is coming, they each have to find their soulmates to help them in the final battle. Enter Zain, who just moved into Val’s apartment complex. Despite his efforts, he has a hard time getting through her walls. Val must learn to trust him and allow her to help him, whether she believes in soulmates or not. Because without all four sisters and their soulmates (or protectors), they won’t be able to defeat the four. Seriously, this was a fantastic way to end the series. Pieces are coming together from all of the other books. We finally get the full picture and have questions answered. And that final battle! We never really find out what’s in the fog or what’s up with the eyes, but we know who the four are and what they can do. Common themes in this series still hold strong. Betrayal, slow burn/little spice, lurking evil. This one adds coded messages and being on the run, too. If you haven’t started reading this series yet, you need to start with Tempest (book 1). I think you could probably read Aftershock (book 2) and Vortex (book 3) in either order, but Firestorm is definitely the last book to read. The timelines in these books are parallel for the most part, but Tempesr has the setup and Firestorm has the conclusion. This was definitely a book that I didn’t want to put down!
