Lyla Redd has just stolen her last precious artifact from the Klamath Bear Clan. The curvy smuggler got away with it before, but she doesn't know serious danger can arrive anytime in big, dark, and very muscular packages.

When werebear Alpha Nick Tunder lays eyes on the voluptuous beauty he's been sent to kill, he realizes the mission is a bust. Taking back his people's treasure is the easy part. Keeping Lyla away proves much harder, especially when she pursues and ends up in his bed for a thorough spanking.

I couldn't really empathize with any of the characters nor get immersed in the story. The plot was really fast, didn't explained things clearly and I couldn't really believe the fated to be together theme because it felt like a big chunk of the story was cut out.

At first they are attracted to each other, then have intercourse and out of nowhere they are each other's love of their life and fated to be together. It just didn't progressed logically to me it was like they met each other and then they just realized they were meant to be together, even if just a couple of months past, they were practically in love and meant to be together for eternity in a couple of weeks.

Even though I liked the underlying story I felt like it was all over the place and could have been better. The ending was too rushed although predictable but it just didn't do it for me.

Not a book I'll personally recommend but anyone interested in a short werebear shifter story are welcomed to read it. For me, it just didn't worked out.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first A.T. Mitchel book and I thoroughly enjoyed this story. As a larger framed woman I enjoy seeing others like me in stories because it gives me more to relate to besides a love of shifter stores.

This is a spicy story involving Lyla a thief of bear artifacts and Nick the bear sent to retrieve the artifact. I enjoyed how A.T. brought this pair together and how the story evolved from there.

I don't know if A.T. writes stand alone or serial books but I would love to see more of this bear clan.

So if you enjoy shifter stories, hawt explosive sex then this story is for you.

I don't know if it was a case of not having enough information because I didn't read book 1 (I kinda didn't realize this was the second in the series until I was a way into it. Oops.) or something else, but I struggled a bit with this book. I enjoyed the underlying worldbuilding, but I never quite connected with the characters or the reasoning behind some of their actions.

Frankly, the bulk of the bear clan were dicks who went along with what their elders told them to do WAY too easily. Add Nick's quick turnaround about killing Lyla (based on her looks alone, apparently) and his sudden refusal to do the clan elders' dirty work and I found myself wondering MIGHTILY about the dynamics of the clan as a whole. (and, yes, some of that was addressed later in the book, but I honestly had several moments where I wondered if ANYONE in the clan was likeable and not prone to being a mindless puppet who would kill if they could get away with it.)

A revelation is thrown in toward the end about how Lyla got involved with procuring clan artifacts that was a little too convenient for my tastes. While I can get behind someone leading her in the direction they wanted her to go, the fact she said nothing about ...(pause to consider how to phrase something that could be spoilery)... a certain something to Nick when she had plenty of opportunity to do so rubbed me wrong.

Bottom line: I didn't hate the book, but I didn't love it either. The worldbuilding was intriguing, but the characters didn't do much for me.

This is a stand-alone, paranormal, BBW romance story.

This was a fun paranormal read. The first time I’ve read of were-bears (and it definitely won’t be the last). There were some minor issues, but otherwise I really enjoyed this story and I’m glad the author contacted me and asked me to read for him. I hope he will contact me for future stories.

I also haven’t read many BBW books, mostly because I am BBW and can be a bit sensitive to what words are used. I had only one line in this book that bothered me. One line isn’t enough to turn me completely off – so it is excused. If the author wants to know which one, he can contact me.

This book needs some serious editorial services or a really good beta reader who will assist the author with grammar and word usage. Unfortunately, the improper word usage did interfere with the story flow and pulled me out of reader head-space and back into the real world to figure out what was meant. It is that loss of head-space that pulled this to a four crown read instead of being a five.

I would love to read some more from Mr. Mitchell and hope that he will again invite me when he next releases.

Werebear Nick is tasked with getting a stolen artifact back and killing the theif, but things don't go quite as planned when he sets his eyes on the curvy Lyla. He leaves her alive, but takes the stone back home with him and that's that right?

No Lyla isn't leaving without her payday, and every wrong she can do to those murderious shifters is a good thing in her book. But when she tries to take the artifact back from right under Nick's nose, so doesn't expect what happens when the sparks fly between them.

Now with both caught by the councel they have to decide where their loyalities lie and why. And what is so important about that stone?

Curvy, Lush, Full figured ok Lyla is a big girl, but she's happy with who she is and I love that. She's fiesty and not afraid to be who she is and accepts life as it is. Nick is you typical Alpha Male and it's fun watching him TRY to control Lyla. He doesn't run from fate even if it's the easiest thing to do he is a guy that does what's right for everyone else before himself.

The story line is interesting even though it is difficult to follow at times bcause you have to fill in missing pieces. With a little mystery and an even more mysterious old man you get a good short read outa this one.

What happens when a werebear alpha is sent to kill a voluptuous beauty? The readers get a mesmerizing and thrilling erotic adventure romance that keeps reader’s shivering in anticipation.

This fast paced plot keeps readers on their toes with action, suspense and romance. The author brings the story to life with well orchestrated events and action, vivid imagery and details and strong enchanting characters that capture the imagination. The tension builds as the reader follow the unlikely couple as the go on the run from the elder council and find a destiny that changes everything the werebear was raised to believe.

The attraction between Nick and Lyla radiates lots of heat from every page and the sex scenes are scorching hot and leave the reader singed. The relationship starts off with a bang and the spark fly throughout as this couple work through their emotional drama as well as what fate has in store for them. The reader can certainly relate to each of their issues and can’t help but be become captivated by their journey.

This is an intriguing and enjoyable novella with some fascinating characters with some twists that I didn’t see coming. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more books in this werebear world.

I remember turning away from animal shape shifting romance books. I thought how can this be? But it's authors like A.T. Mitchell that create something so magical and powerful then put it into a novel. I am so glad I changed my mind about fantasy and paranormal genres. Books are supposed to transform us into an alternate reality that places us inside the book we're reading. Bear King's Curves takes you deep into the woods where only the strongest of beasts dwell. Where legend of men turning into huge powerful grizzly bears and back into powerful men that exude sexiness, manliness and an Alpha presence only to assimilate into human society for a moment. Our two main characters Nick and Lyla are initially wary of each other and each event that occurs only draws them together page by riveting page. Sex in the forest you can almost smell the earth, the pine trees and nature. Realistic to complement the scenes and draws you in with each turn of the page. Before you know it you're hooked, rooting for the pair and praying they make it to the end. I loved this story and look forward to reading more of Mitchell's work.

' I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review '

Lyla is a thief. She steals from the werebear shifters of the Klamath clan. They are the only people that she steals from and there is more to the reason why then just the money that she gets from selling the items that she steals. When she meets Nick she is highly attracted to him.

Nick is training to be Alpha of the Clan. The elders send him on a mission to kill a human girl that has been stealing artifacts from them. No matter what she did he doesn't feel right killing her. So when he doesn't she comes to him all hell breaks loose.

What will Nick and Lyla do with information that they find out about the latest artifact that Lyla had taken?

My opinion: I enjoyed this book. The book is very well written and the characters are great. They draw you in and keep you engaged. I read the book within a couple of hours. I really liked this story and found it hard to put down. I definitely recommend reading.

Lyla the girl sure doesn't beat around the bush, "hi, I'm Lyla Redd. Do you always gawk at women this way, or are you just drunk?" Nick that boy has no filter either, "I just take what I want. And right now, I want to get every last inch of your sweet curves naked, sweaty, and pressed up against my chest. I want to see your a* shake while you're grinding above, below, and everywhere against my body." These two when together are very naughty, "I whimpered. He squeezed me so hard I rolled toward him, feeling the growing bulge between his legs pressed against my skin. "Oh! You're effing hard..." My voice withered low, husky with need. "Do you want me to see how much harder I can make it?" I pursed my lips, moving my tongue slowly and visibly across them." Nick he knows how to mark his woman his, "Nick grunted, gently lowering my legs. He rolled off me. I reached between my legs and felt for the steaming mess trickling out of me. Absolutely no doubt: he'd planted his seed deep."

Nick a very powerful bear shifter in line of being Alpha has been asked to take out a female human for stealing precious artifacts from his clan! Then he meets her in person and his world is turned upside down! Layla is a very curvaceous human female has hated bear shifters and Nick's clan for many years now for what happened to her father. When they finally meet the chemistry is so strong that neither can deny that they want each other. Then Nick & Layla are forced on the run and what they find out on the run changes the destiny for Nick, Layla and the whole clan.
Very great story told with a lot of detail of how Nick's clan and his ancestors have lived over the years. Several scenes were very intense and had me on edge! Also many hot scenes that will having you fan yourself! All in all a great story and I definitely look forward to reading more!

Different Take on Bear Shifters

What do you like?
I liked that the heroine was a strong character and that there was a HEA with a baby on the way.

What do you not like?
Both the heroine and the hero were too easily manipulated, even at the end. He should have taken the scrolls to his mate rather than burn them. It would have been nice to have been able to find out if there was a way in the old laws to make the H/H more compatible. Also the heroine rec'd nothing but scorn for being a human and stealing but much wasn't said to condemn the bears who massacred the humans.

Recommend to a friend?
It was a good read with interesting concepts. I like reading about bear shifters and it was an interesting take on how leaders are picked to lead, different than what I've read before.

This was a fantastic read! Lyla and Nick
had amazing chemistry, you could almost feel the heat between them! Nick set out to kill Lyla as he was ordered, but couldn't hurt her after meeting her and seeing her lush curves.

Together they triumphed, finding out about his birthright, and healing each other's wounds along the way. A sassy heroine, that's not afraid to speak her mind, and a hot, sexy werebear that loved her curves and her mind!
I could not stop reading this awesome shifter romance! This was my first A.T. Mitchell book, but now I'm hooked, and will read everything by A.T. that I can get my hands on.
I very highly recommend this book, so what are you waiting for?! Go get your own copy, and fall in love with everything this story has to offer, as I did! I'm so glad I picked up this book, I'm sure I'll read it again!

Werebear Nick Tunder is sent on a mission by his clan elders. But retrieving the previous artifact stolen becomes more complicated when he is also ordered to kill the thief Lyla Redd. One meeting is all it took for him to realize he couldn't kill her. Instead he steals back the artifact and returns home. Lula is not giving up that easily. She follows Nick back to clan lands where the adventure of a lifetime begins for both of them. Secrets will be revealed, conspiracies will be discovered and a true king will be found.
The story line was intriguing. I wouldn't mind more about the clan history.

Nick and Lyla meet under trying circumstances: she has stolen something precious from his werebear clan and he has been sent by the clan’s elder to get it back and kill her. When Nick is unable to off curvy Lila, his clansmen find out and take them both prisoner. That’s when their romantic adventure begins.

Steamy sex, fantastic werebear action, mystery and intrigue – this authentic shifter romance has it all. The author does an amazing job of creating vivid characters and telling a story that moves along at the perfect pace, neither too fast or two slow. I loved the chemistry between Nick and Lyla and enjoyed how their relationship unfolded, even as secrets were revealed.

I liked most of it, lots of action, some steamy scenes, the Indian lore thrown in and woven into the story, and the plot itself has plenty of action. Plus having a love interest that wasn't ridiculously petite and impossibly skinny and fresh out of high school was a nice bonus. I wasn't crazy about the ending. Felt that Nick was way, way hasty in destroying the parts of their history. Rash and stupid actually. Since no one even knew 90% of what the clans history was really about, felt he should have taken all of it to the inn keeper and gotten his help in deciding what could/should be done. But that's just my opinion, and since it's MY review...

This book had appealed to me since I first saw the cover. Yes, it was the cover that made me want to read it. That plus the name of the book. I'm glad I read it, I adored the story and thought it was worth the read.

I found this to be a quick, addicting read, I couldn't put it down and it only took me four hour long sittings to devour the entire book. As a slow reader, finishing any book in a matter of hours is an amazing feat for me.

I loved this story and can't wait to read more novels by A.T. Mitchell!

Apparently I like werebears and I like the way this story introduces them. I haven't read a lot of werebear books so I'm not too sure how much in here is original or not, but a lot of it is new to me and that is always a plus when I am reading paranormal books. The heroine doesn't take any flak from anyone, including the hero and she starts out in the book as the 'villein' who is a thief which was quite a change from the usual para book. I will be trying out more of A.T. Mitchell's work as I had fun reading this.

This story is also available in the 'Fated Mates' set of books.

Original and entertaining
I love an original story line and this story has it. I read a lot of paranormal romance novels and at times have a hard time finding original idea in the books. This author did it and did it very well. The story was well written as well as flowed extremely well. Kept my interest and was a very quick read. I loved the twists at the end. Great job on the story telling to the author. Keep up the great work. I received this book as a ARC from the author.

I was lucky enough to get this as an ARC read. I loved this book and the people in it.

Nick is the alpha in training. Lyla is a thief. Nick is sent to kill her and return what she has stolen. Nick can't do it.

Nick and Lyla cause all kind of trouble together. In all of this they fall in love and help each other. Nick has to fight for his birth right. Lyla stands by his side the whole time. I love that shifters like real women.

This is a fairly yummy read. I generally like the characters and overall plot. The flow didn't really work for me, it felt disjointed. The beginning had plenty of action in the story and the steam. It was later that things get loose. The feeling come too quickly with out enough explanation.

I would be interested in seeing more from this author. I do love yummy bears, so I am willing to see what else she has to offer.

I like shifter stories

I haven't ever read about bear shifters, so it is different than the wolf and cat ones. I think A.T. Mitchell got the bears persona right. The only thing is that I would like to see a little more about the bears themselves.
When Nick meets Lyla it is a little lacking in the richness of the characters. It was mostly about sex love. I'm not sure how to put it into words, but it still was a good read.

I am not sure how to say this without giving a spoiler so here goes.

Lyla is a thief for good reason in her mind. She is a curvy girl and danger arrives in her fated mate Nick what is a man to do? You will have to read the book to find out what happens as there are tons of surprises on the way.

I enjoyed this book and read more from this author as this was my first.

This one is fast paced and keeps giving you a little more of the action. From the beginning no time was wasted on jumping right into the story. It has a great amount of heat keeps you focused on the drama. It left a lot of unanswered questions of what was taking place and the future but that could lead into another book or two.

Bear King's Curves was okay. The storyline was good and for the most part the characters were good too. I wasn't in love with it because I felt some parts could have had more focus and others less. I more than likely will read more of of these.

I am looking for an amazing bear shifter story. Uh, this wasn't it. I didn't really like the main characters. And other than lust, I didn't feel like I got the sense of why they liked each other. And I got the feel that the author was going for a BDSM angle but that fell flat, too.
