The Immortal Essence series continues in Dovetailed. Venus is a new goddess and still doesn't understand all of her powers and her real parents, Ith and Aetha (gods as well), left the planet. It was now her job to take care of Kelari. One of her new powers includes putting souls back into their bodies if they have not already left to where souls normally go. And she is newly married to Michael, the halfling. He is an all new breed, one that has never been seen before, and has powers all his own. Unfortunately he is the only one who can get what is needed to help defeat the huge monsters about to invade Kelari. King Antyon is determined to become supreme ruler over Kelari and then Earth. But he is not the type of ruler they want and will destroy Kelari to get what he wants. The beasts being set loose can even kill the immortal Kelvieri. Amberlee, the fifteen-year-old girl that Venus thought was her younger sister until now, is being queened before she even goes through becoming a Kelvieri and immortal. With both of her parents dead, due mostly to her betrayal of them, she is now the natural heir. However, she was never groomed for this position because her parents had spent all of their energy on Venus. Amberlee still struggles with jealousy of Venus as well as the guilt of her betrayal. Now she must get her people to believe in her and do what she can to help them. The rebellious teenage girl must become a leader. Then there is her boyfriend, Palmo. He is King Antyon's son and not to be trusted. Instead of just explaining that to her, Venus lets Amberlee figure it out on her own.
I love reading this series by Rashelle Workman! It is all about immortals, huge scary beasts, deceit, love, and betrayal. Amberlee must go through her own people trying to reject her because of her betrayal of them to King Antyon. And her boyfriend is not who she thought he was. Going from rogue princess to the queen and leader of her people is quite the journey for her. Venus goes through the stresses of early marriage to Michael and the constant danger everyone around her is in now that they are under attack. Michael learns of the powers he has and how they can help him save everything he loves and cares about.
I had the pleasure of reading this book for the author. Before I could read this one I had reacquaint myself with the first two so I read them all back to back. Dovetail is the final installment of the Immortal Essence Series where everything you have read about is all pulled together in this one. Venus has learned that she is a goddess, one that is meant to save Kelari. With the help of those she trusts and those she’s unsure, Venus finds the power within herself to accept who she, what she needs to do to make sure it happens, seek help from those around her and trust in her decisions.
Going into this series I really wasn’t too sure about them since I’m not into the otherworldly type of books but I wanted to keep an opened mind. I am so glad I did, I ended up getting pulled into what was happening on Earthy and why Venus was there to her travels back toKelari and then her trials once home. I loved how the author described each character and creature that was Kelari, it made it so easy to picture them in your head thus enjoying the story even more J I loved the storyline and how it all panned out in the end and still think there could be more to this (her sister, etc.). There is a great mix of action, suspense If you are looking for a great story, something out of this world, than pick up this book today (as well as the first two if you don’t have them), you will not be disappointed.
what do you do when your country your planet is at war with someone who believes they are a god . what do you do when you don't know who you are . and what do you do when your daughter is taken and what do you do when your heart is breaking, and what do you do to rebuild all that has been taken . and where do you go to get away from the pain of loss , and do you finally be with the one you love / find this and so much more these questions can and will be answered i know the answers but in order for you to know well you got to read the book to find out . this i bought no one sent this to me the whole series i had bought no one else so until next time ZAREN'S STORY IS NEXT .
I've been waiting for this book for quite a while and it was worth it. While it took me a chapter or two to get back in the groove of the Kelari world, once I got going the story drew me right in.
The book begins with a world in shambles about to be hit by a devastating war. Both Michael and Venus are coming to terms with who exactly they are without really the help of others to assist them with their new duties and powers.
The plot line follows the struggle of the Kelari people of Alayeah as they come to terms with new royalty and new deities. I could foresee future novelettes stemming from this series.
I TAKE BACK SAYING "Zaren and Venus > Michael and Venus".
I enjoyed and love the book. In Dovetailed RaShelle Workman ameliorated the mistakes in Beguiled and even made up for that, however, this book is not even close to how good Exiled is. If she kept up Exiled's standard in both Beguiled and Dovetailed, Immortal Essence would have been a masterpiece. She could have done so so so much better- she has it in her.
Nonetheless, like I said before, homage to Workman's originality and creative thinking! Not for a bit am I disappointed I read this.
I love this world, the characters, the technology, everything! I can never get enough. Yes, everything was wrapped up nice and pretty, with the option of continuing on with side stories, but I still want more of Venus & company.
I loved this series. I did fill bad for Zaren in the end, but I'm happy that he has his own series. I hope he finds a happy ending. This is a must read.
