I received a free copy of, Christmas Movie Ultimate Trivia Book, by Neal E. Fischer, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. There is something special about Christmas movies, this is a great book for fans of Christmas movies, from Miracle on 34th St, Elf, Home Alone, The Santa Claus, and so many more Christmas movies, with great Christmas trivia questions.
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
Christmas Movie Ultimate Trivia Book is the perfect book for any Christmas movie lovers to do alone or for a fun family/friends evening entertainment. The book features many well loved Christmas movies and a huge collection of trivia questions to test your knowledge and get you in the mood for Christmas. I did this book alone, noting down my answers, but I really enjoyed doing it, but it would be more fun to do with others.
ARC | Difficult to review, as the ARC was in terrible condition | Such a fun idea, and it's only too bad that so very many of the movies are ones that I, a Christmas fanatic, have never even heard of. A significant number of the rest are movies I've heard of but have less than no interest in seeing, and my friends and family have very similar taste in movies to mine, so that limits the fun we could have with the book. I'm sure that people who enjoy more horror and violence in their holiday films than I do will have a wider range of the quizzes they can take. Fortunately, the quizzes for the raunchier movies don't lean into that for the questions, I've seen Bad Santa, and its questions could have been much dirtier, haha! That the answers are upside down on the same page means the person reading the questions aloud will have to cover the page to participate, and it seems that having those answers at the end of the book might have been a better way to go. The main difficulty was how significantly not ready for review the ARC was. Graphics and text were overlaid incorrectly, so that the words couldn't be read. The background of most pages was pixelated. Graphics and text were offset on the page so that they didn't line up as intended. There were instructions for the publishers across a two-page spread. Some text is essentially double printed, causing a blurred look. I hope these issues will be ironed out prior to publication, and would suggest ebook buyers check the sample before purchasing, to be certain.
ARC provided free of charge, which did not impact my review
It is a perfect gift for Christmas holidays! Interesting questions for the Christmas movies and beautiful illustrations. I really enjoy reading this book and I will recommend to my friends! Thanks to NetGalley for reading opportunity of this title!
It took me all month, but I finally read all but ~27 pages of Neal E. Fischer's Christmas Movie Ultimate Trivia Book (disclaimer: I'm friends with Neal and did win a free signed copy he gave away through his trivia podcast, Triviality, however I also bought 2 or 3 additional copies to support a friend and give away as Christmas gifts and you should too!).
The 27 pages I skipped were Christmas films I haven't yet seen but plan to, however, one great thing about Fischer's writing is you still have a good chance at getting the right answers for films you haven't seen! Whether it's game theory in guessing which multiple-choice answer is probably not made up, or knowing enough in the multiple-film challenges to guess at the few you haven't seen, it's not completely impossible even if you are a Scrooge who doesn't like Christmas films (but maybe in that case, this book isn't for you)
The Stocking Stuffer quizzes cover ten random films with one question each, and they often have other trivia ins to get the answer, even if you haven't seen the film.
I think the best use of this book, if you're like me and spend most of December watching Christmas movies, is to pick up the book after a watch or rewatch and see how closely you were paying attention. Some answers are easy even if you haven't seen the film in years, but some can be challenging even if you try answering while the credits are still rolling!
Fischer did a great job compiling trivia for over 100 Christmas movies (of which I've seen ~75%) from animated classics to little-known foreign films. My only complaint (which I didn't realize was one until checking out his Letterboxd list and the index in the back of the book) is the complete lack of any of Shane Black's films. No Kiss Kiss Bang Bang or Iron Man 3 or The Nice Guys or Long Kiss Goodnight or Lethal Weapon?! The guy loves to add Christmas to his films but he seems to have been left on the cutting room floor! I know Fischer had several quizzes removed by the publisher—I wouldn't be surprised if there was an entire "Black Christmas" chapter that had to be cut but maybe it will make the sequel.
Hey there, fellow Christmas movie lovers! 🎄 If you're anything like me, you probably have a soft spot for those heartwarming (or hilariously chaotic) holiday films that come around every December. Enter "Christmas Movie Ultimate Trivia Book: Test Your Superfan Status and Relive the Most Iconic Christmas Movie Moments" by Neal E. Fischer. This book is like a giant stocking stuffed full of festive fun and trivia that’ll get you in the holiday spirit!
So, what can you expect? This book is packed with nearly 500 trivia questions that cover over 180 classic Christmas movies—yes, including the all-important debate on whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie (spoiler alert: I still say it’s not! 😂). The trivia ranges from multiple choice to true/false and matching quizzes, making it perfect for a casual game night or a fun holiday party with friends.
But it’s not just about the questions. The book is beautifully illustrated, featuring colorful depictions of some of the most iconic moments from our favorite holiday flicks. I found myself flipping through the pages not just to test my knowledge but to relive those unforgettable scenes. It really captures that warm, fuzzy feeling we all get when we think about our holiday movie marathons.
As someone who considers themselves a Christmas movie enthusiast, I was delighted to see such a diverse range of films included—from Love Actually to The Santa Clause and everything in between. The trivia questions are genuinely great; they challenge your memory while also bringing back some really joyful moments from those films. Plus, there’s even a rating system and scoring sheet to help you track just how much of a superfan you really are!
In conclusion, if you’re looking for a fun way to spruce up your festive gatherings or just want to test your own Christmas movie knowledge, this book is a fantastic addition to your collection. It's perfect for solo enjoyment or group settings, making it an ideal gift as well. Grab a mug of hot cocoa, cozy up by the fire, and dive into the delightful world of Christmas movie trivia—trust me, you won't regret it! 🎅✨
⚠️This review was written based on personal opinions and experiences with the book. Individual preferences may vary⚠️
As an avid Christmas movie enthusiast who hosts an annual viewing group for classic holiday films, I was delighted to discover this trivia book covering a wide range of festive favorites. My yearly must-watches, including "Love Actually," "Elf," "Christmas Vacation," and "The Family Stone," are all featured alongside many others. The book's pages are adorned with vibrant artwork that perfectly complements the challenging trivia questions, creating a visually appealing and engaging experience for readers.
Fischer's compilation includes 100 "Christmas movies," though some selections may spark debate among purists. The inclusion of films like "Die Hard" (which I personally consider a Christmas movie) and more contentious choices like "Batman Returns" adds an interesting dimension to the book, inviting discussions about what truly constitutes a holiday film. This diversity in selection ensures that there's something for every type of Christmas movie fan.
While the book offers a delightful journey through Christmas cinema, I do have a couple of minor complaints. First, the answers are printed on the same page as the questions, which will make group quizzes more challenging to manage. Moving the answers to an appendix at the back of the book would have easily enhanced the user experience. Second, the difficulty level of the questions is notably high. Almost all require a recent viewing and even then an exceptionally keen eye for detail is needed.
Despite these small issues, this trivia book is a valuable addition to any Christmas movie lover's collection. It promises to elevate holiday viewing parties and challenge even the most knowledgeable fans. As for me, I'm eagerly looking forward to incorporating these quizzes into my annual Christmas movie nights, adding a new layer of engagement and friendly competition to our festive tradition.
A big thank you to Quarto Publishing Group and NetGalley for providing an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book has a red cover that fits its Christmas theme well, it also features a green Christmas tree on it so you definitely know the book is Christmas related.
I have read the ebook version but the book has quite good illustrations which I bet look even better in a physical book.
The book is set out in types of movie, each movie has its own individual quiz on it. First of all, there is the movie information, movie title, year, the director, mentions some of the cast, and a brief description of the movie plot. Each movie is also rated for “Christmas Spirit” symbolised by Christmas Trees, “Warm fuzzier” symbolised by mittens and “Timelessness symbolised by Christmas Lights. I really loved the ratings even though I really didn’t agree with some of them! The quiz is underneath all that information. The questions all have multiple choice answers which makes the quiz a little easier, and so making it suitable for all ages.
At times I did find the font style difficult to read, maybe that would be clearer if you had the physical book in front of you. Personally, I would prefer the quiz answers to have their own section at the back of the book. Though I guess that wouldn’t work as well in the ebook format.
There’s some total classics included in the back such as Wonderful Life which in my opinion didn’t have enough Christmas lights!! There were also some rather obscure movies as well as some included that maybe people wouldn’t immediately classify as a Christmas Movie. I mean if Die Hard and Edward Scissor Hands are included why not include Bridget Jones? Some of the sections the movies were put in didn’t seem quite right either, I would have put National Lampoons under “Dysfunctional Family Christmas” There were some great films were missing such as Nativity, Deck The Halls, and Last Christmas (Ghost/wham).
This book is a fun quiz book that is great for anyone that loves Christmas movies, young or old! The book is perfect for a movie themed quiz at Christmas be that at home with the family or down at the pub with your friends/family. I think this book is a great book for reminiscing about past Christmases, memories of when you watched the movies and who with. The quiz could be a kind of Advent tradition where you do the quiz, watch the movies on the lead up to Christmas. It’s certainly a brilliant conversation starter! I think the book would make a great stocking filler, or fun gift for Christmas.
I enjoyed it though it could be so much better too.
Get ready to have a ball at this year’s holiday parties! Whether you are hosting or showing up to have fun, you will have the perfect party game! Holiday movies draw all types of people, so there is really something here for everyone (just know not everything is family friendly or traditional so maybe don’t leave around for little eyes to read). Have fun with various questions to test yourself or set it up as an all all-out competition. Scoring methods and rules are included! Questions are set up as multiple choice and chapters are broken out by genre. There are fun festive facts scattered throughout to keep it entertaining as well informative. Not sure that I agree with all the Cheer-O-Meters (Christmas Spirit, Warm Fuzzies, and Timeliness) as these are so subjective, but still, it adds a nice touch. I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.
From a girl who is obsessed with Christmas, I can tell you that this is a MUST-HAVE trivia book for anyone who thinks they know everything about Christmas movies. Not only are the chapters broken down into different Christmas movie genres (i.e. action, suspense, family movies, etc) it also has multiple quiz options with a way to score different rounds. The author also conducted a poll to rank the movies within their genre which gives more insight into movies you may not have seen. This is super fun and can be utilized at parties, by your Elf on the Shelf, or just to test your Christmas movie trivia skills. Oh, and the illustrations were super cute too!
In exchange for an honest review, I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity! This was a fun and interactive review!
A fun trivia book about Christmas movies. I was genuinely surprised at how many Christmas movies are covered in the book. It includes several versions of A Christmas Carol, classics, violent movies and obscure foreign films. While I could get correct answers on some of the films I was very familiar with I would say the difficulty level of the questions is high. Most of the questions are multiple choice with some true or false and matching quizzes added. The answers were often upside down on the bottom of the page. I enjoyed thumbing through it and trying my best at the movies I knew. For fans of Christmas trivia. Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group for the temporary ARC and I am leaving a voluntary review.
I love Christmas so I jumped at the occasion to review this book.
There are a lot of movies in this book (some I don't even know), but I feel like they are organized in a bit of a messy way (some can easily fall into 2-3 categories). The questions are not easy, so it's great for adults, but not for kids. The scoring is okay.
I loved the facts and photos you can find in the book as well.
If you love Christmas movies and quizzes, I truly believe this book is great, but if you are more of a casual movie watcher this might be a bit much
Disclaimer: I received a free e-book copy in exchange for my honest review
The title is weirdly clunky, but the book is set up wonderfully - full of vibrant colors and artwork, it really is an ultimate collection of Christmas movies as it’s full of holiday classics and favorite watches, along with many readers may decide to try watching (though it was minus a really big one, imho - Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001) - going by the logic that DIe Hard and Eyes Wide Shut are both Christmas movies), (I mean, how can you forget Bridget Jones??).
This is bound to be an absolutely enjoyable family/friends activity and would make a fun Secret Santa gift.
This is another book that will probably be better as a physical book than as an ebook. The answers are often on another page and flipping back and forth can get a little hairy. The trivia in this book is... amazing. There are So Many movies included in this book. Yes, some of them may be argued as Christmas-adjacent, but the author does address this. There are twelve different categories including thrillers, animated movies, and even a whole section devoted just to Christmas Carol adaptations. It's a fun book with a lot of great trivia. There are even little mini sections in between. Other than the navigability issues, it's quite a nice book.
Christmas Movie Ultimate Trivia Book: Test Your Superfan Status and Relive the Most Iconic Christmas Movie Moments by Neal E. Fischer was a lot of fun to read. I found that there are a lot of Christmas movies I have not seen. I’ve added them to my watch list. It was a challenging variety of questions. This would be great for a holiday get together.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This was a really fun Trivia book. My family loves getting together and playing trivia. My husband and I did this together first then had them over. We had so much fun. I loved the art work through out this book. If you are a Christmas movie fanatic then this is the perfect book for you. This is the perfect book to test your knowledge and get you into the holiday spirit.
Thank you NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – becker & mayer! | Epic Ink for allowing me to read this ARC for my honest opinion.
This "Christmas Movie Ultimate Trivia Book" is a great way to test your Christmas film knowledge. This book is full-color and covers 12 chapters - each one being a category - of infamous holiday films. Examples include "Dashing through the stunts" and "Laughing all the way". Each quiz covers one Christmas movie in that category with 8 questions per quiz, and the answer keys can be found upside-down on the bottom of pages. This would be a great hit at a holiday party or Christmas-themed event to do a trivia contest.
This book is an explosion of colourful Christmas cheer 🎄 The illustrations and the way it has been packaged is fantastic 🎅
A wonderful game for families who enjoy watching festive movies each year. Questions for every Christmas film you can think of. Everyone's favourite, Home Alone, and it even has Batman Returns! I didn't see that one coming! ☃️

I love Christmas Trivia! We host an Ugly Sweater Party every year, and "Christmas Jeopardy" is one of the favorite games played. That's why I was excited to receive this book as an ARC from NetGalley. There's a lot of information here. Unfortunately, I found many, many of the movies to be a bit obscure (The Ref, Violent Night, Anna and the Apocalypse, Black Christmas). And the questions way too difficult. Definitely a book for adults. I was left rather disappointed.
This is a great book for fans of Christmas movies, and yes Die Hard is a Christmas movie. You can have movie trivia night during the holidays with this book. Watch the movie and then answer the quizzes. There are movies for every taste whether your favorite is Home Alone, Elf or even the Christmas Story these and many others are included. You can score your results for bragging rights for the year. Have fun this holiday season.
An excellent book for Christmas, especially to share with family and friends as a game. This covers every genre and the best known of Christmas movies - it may be a good idea to rewatch some beforehand, though, as some of the questions are hard! Very nicely illustrated and great fun.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy in return for an honest review.
This is absolutely darling. The whole layout and feel of the book puts you right in the Christmas mood. I cannot wait to purchase this for family members as a present this holiday season.
I was so thrilled to see some of my favorite classic Christmas movies along with newer ones like Klaus. And Die Hard!
This would make a great gift for any Christmas movie enthusiast.
Thank you Netgalley for the arc. Such a fun quiz book perfect for the Christmas period. Such a large range of questions and films so something for all ages. It also has fun facts and great illustrations. Can't wait to play this quiz with the family
Christmas Movie Ultimate Trivia Book is a fun activity book filled with trivia about Christmas movies. It details everything from Home Alone to Elf to test Christmas movie lovers.
This book has a lot of content for a trivia book, but it could use more direction. Sweet and earnest writing, though the author's commentary and the book's artwork are not as focused on film as some cinephiles might like. I appreciate how many films are covered, and I enjoyed the researched trivia about various movies. The book is written for adult friends or family, as there are no questions written at children-level. The scoring system could use improvement, but it’s easy enough for your group (or yourself) to decide how to play.
