In this spellbinding rom-com about a wish gone wrong, two opposites might just get a second chance at love, perfect for fans of New York Times bestsellers Payback's a Witch and The Ex Hex.

Ex-celebrity chef Sirena Caraway has had the wackiest October ever. Her cooking powers are on the fritz, she failed to land a career-saving job, and she embarrassed herself at the town’s Halloween party. Just before midnight, she makes a desperate wish for a second chance to fix her life. The next morning Sirena wakes up and realizes that she’s repeating the entire pumpkin spice-flavored month. Even sweeter, she runs into Gus Dearworth, whose magic leaves her spellbound.

A former reality star, Gus moved to Freya Grove to rebuild his reputation and heal his broken heart, but his restless magic is tempting him to return to the spotlight. And his secret crush on Sirena is making him want to try something dangerous like fall in love again. When Sirena realizes he can help her fix her powers, Gus makes her a deal. If she’ll help decipher a mysterious cookbook in his collection, he'll help get her magical groove back.

Every encounter offers a new adventure—from tasting menus, harvest mazes, and a growing attraction that’s taking on an irresistible enchantment of its own. But as the month winds down and the wish grows stronger, Sirena and Gus have a decision to make. Will their second chance be their happy-ever-after ending or a bittersweet memory?

Soulmates and a lil bit of time travel? Normally 100% my thing, but much like the second book, I just didn't connect to this one the way I did to the first book in the series. I'm glad I finished it though.

It was so nice to be back in Freya Grove, New Jersey! (But, not to worry, this book will work fine as a standalone.) The town is filled with magical people and other magical creatures (like gnomes). Although a fictional town, we are on the Jersey Shore, somewhere near Asbury Park, since the (real) Berkley Hotel is mentioned along the way. This is the third book in the Elemental Love series, which revolves around three sisters and a cousin, all part of the extensive Caraway witch family. This time we are focused on Sirena, a kitchen witch who seems to have lost her touch. When she finds a batch of “wish tea” made by her sister Lucy, she wishes for a do-over of the whole disastrous month of October.

I enjoyed Sirena’s story and adored her love interest, Gus, a famous magician from a family full of magicians, who has retreated from stardom on his family’s reality tv series, and just wants to be the steward of the Freya Grove Historical Society. He’s licking his wounds from a divorce; and now his ex is getting remarried soon and has invited him to the wedding. I loved how Gus admired and appreciated Sirena’s curves. She describes herself as a big girl and she’s fine with it. So refreshing! When she gets her spark back, her food sounded utterly delicious. I also loved how close the Caraway “girls” were and how they supported one another.

Warning: several explicit spicy scenes.

I bounced between the ebook and the audiobook for this title. There were two narrators, male and female: Marissa Hampton and Christopher Hampton (no idea if they are related or not). Both narrators were fine, although I felt I had to speed up the audiobook, as the narration was just too slow for me (especially Christopher’s sections).

Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for the opportunity to read a review copy of this book and for the opportunity to listen to an advance copy of this audiobook. All opinions are my own.

Deja Brew by Celestine Martin
Elemental Love series #3. Witchy diverse paranormal romance. Alternating POV. Can be read as a stand-alone.
Sirena Caraway is feeling lost. Her life isn’t working out and things keep getting messed up. She makes a wish for a second chance and wakes up the next morning starting the month over again.
Gus Dearworth is a former reality star. He does not want to return to the spotlight. When his secret crush, Sirena Caraway, needs a little help, he’s more than willing to help.

🎧 I alternated between an ebook and an audiobook, sometimes reading the two together. The narration is performed by Marissa Hampton and Christopher Hampton, both of whom do a wonderful job with clearly expressed emotions and different voices in their chapters for the main characters. Even though the two never actually talk to each other in chapter or scene, their voices meld smoothly to their personas and for continuity of the book in full.
There are multiple timelines because of the wish and was slightly easier to track in the ebook format.

Steamy slow burn romance and steaming fall tasting menus make this story an enjoyable conclusion to the series. I liked that Sirena had confidence in her self image even while her magical side was being rebuilt, and I admired Gus for his off-stage career decisions even under pressure from family. Two strong individuals that needed a touch of support. A helping hand is not a bad thing and can be life changing.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley and Hachette Audio.

A cute and cozy conclusion to this witchy romance series! This time with a time slip element...

Deja Brew is a small town, witchy romance following Sirena who left her celebrity chef job to come home and take care of family. Now everything feels like it's falling apart, but a wish gives her back the month of October to live differently. And this time, love just might be on the menu.

Gus is a former reality tv star and magician who now lives a quiet existence working for the local historical society. He thinks his love life is over since his ex-wife left him, but Sirena stays on his mint. And what better time to fall in love than in the autumn?

There are delicious food descriptions, fall festivals, steamy moments, and a really sweet and cozy romance. Perfect for the coming season! The audio narration is good, similar to the previous books in the series. I received an audio review copy via Netgalley, all opinions are my own.

This was a cute fall read and I want to read more by this author. I loved the paranormal and time loop/soulmate aspect that was written. The main characters are both going through different things and fate brings them together. The mmc doesn't practice his magic anymore and the fmc is struggling in her career and what she wants to accomplish. I loved that the fmc was a kitchen witch and used her magic to cook lol. The romance is very cozy and there are some steamy moments in it. Overall if you want a sweet/cozy romance perfect for the fall weather you should read this.

Read for:
- Slow burn
- Friends to lovers
- Black romance
- Fall vibes
- Paranormal romance

In all honesty, I DNF this book. The first chapter did not grab me in a way that I like my cozy rom coms to.

The first chapter needs a rewrite. It felt like it was written by a non-author young adult. Once I got to subsequent chapters, the quality was better. The description says that it’s a rom-com, but honestly it’s not funny at all. It’s not ironic, it’s not witty. I longed for some hilarious banter like Emily Henry, Katherine Center or Christina Lauren..

I felt like there wasn’t enough character depth by the 15% read mark. I got the ick from Gus and his “unexplained attraction” to the main character. It happened too fast with not enough background— which in turn makes it weird IMO. I didn’t resonate with the characters at all. I like a good mystery in romance but this isn’t it..

On the upside, I did think that the way the author explains the feel of fall and the aromas and all that good stuff is what kept me going as long as I did. Keep that up!

PSA: BOOKTOK and BOOKTUBE and BOOKSTAGRAM. PUT THIS BOOK ON YOUR FALL LISTS! We need more Black Love cute sexy fall stories and this is one of the best autumnal books I've read to date.

What a PERFECT book for the fall. And I mean- PERFECT. This book is the coziest, cutest, most aesthetic autumnal romance I have EVER read and even though it's still summer as I write this, this book made me LONG for farmer's markets and apple cider and seeing pumpkins on front porches. If you live/love/pumpkin spice latte ADORE autumn like I do, then this book will be a special treat that you will likely want to revisit every year when the weather grows gloomy and you switch out your flip-flops and bathing suits for boots and sweaters. I cannot adequately convey how much this book felt like a warm hug just from the lush autumnal aesthetic alone....

But, guess what? That's not all.

Background: I have read all of Celestine Martin's books to date (I'm a Black, New Jersey native who also loves magical romance as much as she does so her books just scratch a much needed ). However, Deja Brew is absolutely my favorite to date in the series. There's something about Sirena and August that just does it for me. Their love story is SO realistic for two middle children struggling with their identities while also wanting to find true love. I adored the character arcs for both of them and thought the character development was realistic and well executed. I loved seeing these characters learn to trust themselves, their community, and their gifts. The love story was also very swoonworthy. It was clear how much these characters enjoyed spending time together and the backdrop of golden leaves, fall ice cream flavors that had my mouth watering, and cute autumnal dates just made it even better. Additionally, it was nice seeing the other characters from past series in this book! Honestly, I found them even more lovable in this novel!

I don't want to give a spoilery review so I won't give specifics but- I was VERY pleased with the sexy scenes in this novel which is surprising because I am a chronic "skipper over" of all sexy scenes. I loved the romantic scenes because they offered surprises. There were unexpected moments that kept me hooked and each of these moments were infused with love and intentionality that I'd like to see in more romances. The magical components of the novel offered some (ahem) quite pleasing sexy moments as well. Very well done!

A great romcom if you are looking for a book to deliver on fall vibes.

Sirena is a kitchen witch and her magic has been messing up all October so at the end of the month she wishes for a second chance. Sirena wakes up the next day and it’s October 1st all over again.

We follow Sirena try to have a better October this time around by asking Gus to help her out.

This book was supper cute. It has witches, a magician, fall vibes, and a good slow burn. It’s definitely a book I would recommend if you are looking for a fun fall romcom.

This was an audio arc that was gifted to me by the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

Deja Brew by Celestine Martin

Sirena has been putting her life on hold but when she finds a wish tea in her cupboard, one her grandmother must have made, she makes a wish and goes back to the beginning of the month. Meeting Gus and their friendship blooming, Sirena realizes that her life wasn’t on hold, she was holding herself back.

So cute.. too cute. Omg it was so dang adorable. It’s the witchy romance I didn’t know I needed! Small town - check. Opposites -check. Soul mates with HEA.. check! It’s for all the fall romance you need. Well written, well paced and just perfect for any autumn day.

🎃🍂 My thoughts:

Loved loved loved! It’s just the right vibe for autumn! I listened to this book in one sitting and the narrators were fantastic and did amazing with this story. This book is part of a series but can be read as a stand-alone without getting lost or confused. I don’t read enough books with kitchen witches and now I am on the hunt for more. It’s also witch week so I am trying to squeeze as many witchy books in the week as I can. I loved both Gus and Sirena’s characters and felt like this story was light and easy. From the corn mazes to the food, this story was made for this season! Deja Brew is out 10/1/24!!

Happy reading 📖 🎃🍂🎧

If you can tell, this book has everything you need to bring in that October weather with a cozy book. I read the first two books in the series, but you can read this one as a standalone. This was an easy read and had the perfect amount of spice. And I'm talking romance spice and pumpkin spice.

I agree 🐈‍⬛

I was initially drawn to this book because of the dreamy cover! It’s beautiful and screams fall!

This was a magical, fall romance filled with all the things we enjoy about this time of year - fall fairs, pumpkins, yummy foods and witches in a cozy town. It also has a time travel element!

A romance between a witch and a magician? Hmmm… it’s different. I’d sum this up as an innocent read. The romance was cutesy, the characters were sweet… the slight drama was light.

My main gripe was that I didn’t like how much of the story was spent on Gus’ ex upcoming wedding. Why was everyone so pressed for him to attend? Why was his family attending? Why was the ex in here at all? Bye 🦵🏾

Overall I think this is a good, lighthearted read!

"...they watched the ride move and glide, powered by the magic they'd made together."

This book is soooo cheesy. I was not enjoying myself. I liked the premise of her having to repeat October, but lots of pieces didn't flow and I am still very confused by the characterization. This felt like 4 different drafts of the same story were put together and then weren't checked for consistency.

I didn't finish the 2nd book in this series either, but I wanted to give this story a try. I have concluded this author's writing just isn't for me.

DNF at 11%. This has the possibility of being a really cute book. Sometimes authors stuff a book 2 full of extra extraneous material and it almost makes it seem like they're just trying to get their word count rather than having anything to do with the story. And that's the case with this book

There is so much detail about irrelevant events and characters and choices.

This book would need a lot more editing before I would wanna read it. Cute premise terrible execution

"Deja Brew" is a creative, magical read that oozes fall vibes just from the cover alone. There's a town fair, apple cider, Halloween parties, pumpkins, Thanksgiving dinner, leaves falling, all of that!

At times it was like things were pieced together without a flow or explanation. 🥴 This is my first romance read with magical/ fantasy elements to it.  There's a witch, a magician, gnomes, spell books, fae, mermaids (& more) who live in Freya Grove.  I felt a bit out of the loop on who was who. All these characters are mentioned & I had no clue who they were! Then "sister" or "cousin" are revealed. But even then, they weren't really memorable.

I also felt disconnected from the town's magic & everyone's different powers.  I think I figured out (maybe!?) how Freya Grove works, but not enough. This may be because I didn't notice that this book is a part of a series.😬 I may at some point read "Witchful Thinking" & "Kiss & Spell" to see.

The spice happened in spells when I least expected! 🤭 I liked that Gus had a normal body - no abs! I didn't feel like Sirena & Gus really had a strong connection other than Gus not wanting Sirena's "second chance" of finding happiness to be a L. But it was cute.

Special thanks to the author & @readforeverpub for my gifted copy‼️

In book 3 we follow kitchen witch Sirena Caraway as she struggles to get her magic back on track after a string of bad luck. A disastrous night at a Halloween party results in her making a wish for a second chance to do things over. But little did Sirena know this simple wish would push her right into the arms of Gus Dearworth a former reality star/ magician.

I just love the cover of this book doesn’t it give Fall/Halloween vibes? The Elemental Love series has come to an end and I can truly say Celestine put her all into this one. Everything I wanted out of the first two books she delivered with Deja Brew. It was swoony, full of magic, steamy, romantic, and set mainly during the month of October which gave me the fall vibe I was looking for.

I loved all of the magical elements especially seeing Gus work his magic like yes finally a male character who uses his powers. Them both making similar wishes, the connected experience of deja vu, and watching them get lost in time together was so romantic.

Overall, this was a swoon-worthy read‼️ The pacing was great, the chemistry between both MC’s was perfect, and I love how the author also gave us updates on both Lucy and Ursula. She ended this series so well. If you’re looking for a paranormal romantasy series filled with magical elements, witches, and fall vibes add this to your list.

Deja Brew by Celestine Martin is such a cute and cozy read, perfect for fall! I loved the festive October setting and the charming romance between Sirena and Gus. Both characters were wonderfully written, and the Black and plus-size representation added so much depth to the story, making it feel fresh and relatable.

While the magic system felt a bit unclear at times, and I wished Sirena’s connection to Gus as soulmates had been more consistent throughout, their chemistry still made for an enjoyable journey. Sirena’s hesitation in embracing their bond did make it harder to fully believe in their soulmate connection, but I appreciated the slow burn and the way it all came together by the end.

Overall, Deja Brew is a delightful fall romance with wonderful representation, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a light, magical escape!

FINALLY a curvy, melanin blessed witch as the fmc!!!! LOVEEEEEE reading black romance

Deja Brew is a modern day paranormal read and I am HERE for it! I really enjoyed this book and the real life references and historically black phrases scattered throughout the book made me giggle. Living in Australia, I don't really get to enjoy the spirit of Halloween but this brook brought aaall the Halloween goodness! This was the 3rd book in the series but I read as a standalone and everything still made sense. I loved the character arcs and the paranormal aspects kept it so interesting.

Sirena is a kitchen witch with a bad case of bad luck during the month of October and Gus is an ex reality tv star (think of Kardashians but a black magician family). Sirena makes a wish one fateful night and gets a do-over. Sirena and Gus strike a deal and by the end of the month they have a decision to make.

This book was super cozy and just felt like a warm hug (who needs Olaf?). Sirena & Gus 4eva <3

Thank you, Read Forever and Hachette Audio, for my gifted copies.

In the third installment of the Elemental Love series, we focus on Sirena Caraway, who has gotten the short end of the stick when it comes to bad luck and her magic. One night Sirena makes a wish that could only lead her into the arms of Gus Dearworth, a former reality TV star and magician who is healing from a divorce. Together they find more than what they both expected with the help of magic, time, and love.

This book is my favorite out of the series; it satisfied my need for an autumn feel and was super cute. I do wish Sirena's magic was a little bit more complex, but I realize her power is an ode to Black culture and our love for food. This one was very cozy and perfect for the fall.

I'd definitely recommend this one.

If you're wanting a cozy, fall, witchy vibe with a dash of romance, this book is for you! Deja Brew is book three in the Elemental Love series and can be read as a standalone, which is a major plus. Now, I didn't rate this one as high because I felt like the other two in the series had a Disney retelling theme or vibe, and this book didn't have that. This is definitely a slow-paced, slow-burn romance.

Deju Brew is such a feel good, witchy romance that had me ready to grab a comfy blanket and settle in to enjoy. Sirena is a kitchen witch who can't connect with her magic and starts to doubt herself. . . Which I can 100% relate to. I felt that Celestine Martin did a really good job resenting those feelings authentically and respectfully. Gus is so sweet and I instantly fell in love with his sweet and sensitive heart ❤️ Their love story was a fun strangers to lovers with forced proximity and it is a perfect romance for fall 🍁🎃

*happy sighs*

Sirena and Gus were oh so delicious. Like a warm hot chocolate. I truly loved this story, as with the other two books, but idk maybe these two might be my faves. Sirena is a kitchen witch who seems to have lost her cooking mojo. Gus is a magician who left the stage and performing for a different life in the Grove.

They both are trying to get back pieces of themselves and determine who they really are. I loved how they did the work on themselves while cheering the other on and showing support. They were so cute together. And when the finally gave in to the chemistryyy it was magical!

As with the other books I do love how supernatural creatures are just a part of life in the quirky town.

There's a fair share of steam to go along with the sweet in this one!

So grab a hot beverage or cold chiller, whicever works, maybe some yummy snacks and tuck into this one. It's perfect for the October cozy viiibes
